they did a hell of a job with this one, best build in awhile

repurposed the metal gear diorama set and feeling it much more
this is the engine look for now.. working on starboard side this evening. trying to design a stand that will display the ship at an angle similar to when you first see it in the game.. but this thing is already heavy! the mass is incredible. so far I’ve been able to assemble it holding it in one hand, but now I have it on the edge of a table to tackle it from top and underneath!
I appreciate the modularity of SgtBlackDeer’s core design because the decisions I am making now will be able to be tweaked once it is done
going for maximum accuracy but there is only so much reference material out there
lighting and sound will be added last, which is counterintuitive, but there are plenty of options to install wiring at the end with little disassembly
more updates to follow
Figured I’d install an engine first before settling on an appropriate rib design… and did it all without having to order more parts! SgtBlackDeer’s design with certain modifications. Engine 1 80% done
the “ribs” need to start just at where the elements under the prow end…they need to maintain a constant arc.. and they need to reach high enough above the ship to capture that enclosed skeletal sense of dread
building on SgtBlackDeer’s original design I am tweaking the them so that they attach to each arm in the lower portion, staying true to the game design
will probably go with this design, but still playing around with different options
need to get it right before I order the parts for 17 more 👍🏼
I may bring the rib height a single stud higher before I construct 17 more.. each rib will have the correct, corresponding support arms as indicated by the game reference images
👍🏼
making good progress on the USG Ishimura - did some Lego “kit (brick) bashing” tonight and trying to capture that Dead Space visual language
Full credit goes to SgtBlackDeer for his *incredible* USG Ishimura MOC
I am following his build instructions but making certain modifications from his design and choosing a different color palette. Really happy with the progress so far and will update this post when done. Re-created his design in Studio software to get the colors looking right and ordered parts are starting to trickle in
Make us whole
Arq made an absolutely incredible U-Boat MOC so full props to him.. genius build, truly
I’m going for an ultra-gritty, Das Boot style modded MOC and will be adding lights to it at the end
it’s about 85% done and I’ve been chipping away at it for several weeks
will post the finished thing, but here it is so far! (missing parts are under construction) - interior is modded from what Arq did, but mostly follows his directions..will make updated post at very end (hull is removable to reveal exterior)
easter egg: in pic 1 if you look in the mirror you can see that there is an “action build” representing a torpedo launch, complete with air bubbles and upward torpedo tilt!
We’re Star Wars’n now boys!!
goal is to get every last accurate detail possible into this build… lifelong dream of mine that I have finally started
will have light and sound
will be painted, weathered and distressed
x-wing will be grimy gray with flecks of white popping through
aiming for museum quality if I can attain it
