What happened to adult swim?

Not Adult Swim the cartoon program…. I was in a community pool yesterday and since it was my second time visiting this particular pool but in both visits, I didn’t observe a single whistle from the lifeguards for what I remembered being called “adult swim.”

All kids would get out, leaving the pool available for adults (often those without kids) to use the pool unobstructed. IIRC, the cadence was 20 min of adult swim every hour.

My friend said it might be bc because we were at a community pool and not at a subdivision pool, that this distinction might be the difference between having adult swim or not.

Adult swim seemed like part of the social contract. And now as an adult, I have not received the benefit of that social contract that I previously upheld.

Mexican Food: check out Chilanguita Mexican Kitchen

The Cheesecake Factory of South City Mexican restaurants — all the way down to the spiral bound menus. Marco was a wonderful host for our first of many visits here! The patio is a great vibe and they even have a Barbie margarita to match the pink walls.

TEED @ SMARTBAR July 18

Hello Chicago!

I am an absolute IDIOT and ended up buying tickets to see TEED at Smart Bar on July 18th but I unfortunately can’t make it from STL that day due to work obligations.

If anyone is planning on going to the show and hasn’t bought their tickets yet, I would gladly sell you mine. I don’t know if ticket sales are permitted on this subreddit, if not please direct me to where to go!

Might just have to eat the cost but I was so looking forward to taking the train to Chicago for this one.

If this is your first time hearing about the show, please take my word as an on-air radio DJ that it’s one I’m sad to miss.

Stay stellar,

~Ace

PS: TEED at Movement for tax

Re: Opera

Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure Opera is a BIG DEAL bc France funds opera specifically.

Surprise! STATE FUNDED ARTS

Found this tidbit out when speaking to figurative artist Shane Wolf and his fascination with Carmina Burana

How do we feel about passion projects + submarines?

Article titled: While other billionaires are busy launching rockets, Gabe Newell has quietly dropped $815 million on a 531-foot deep-sea research vessel that will carry 130 crew and scientists, dual submersibles, and a 15,000-meter lifting system to map never-before-seen parts of the ocean

Ace’s Live Concert Radar 5.11.26

Happy Monday from your morning radio host! Just wanted to chime in about a few shows coming to St. Louis that I’m stoked for!

Tuesday May 12th:

From Indian Lakes @ Old Rock House

Mdou Moctar @ Off Broadway

We hate a conflict but you can’t go wrong with either of these. From Indian Lakes might be a bit more high energy and Mdou Moctar is a solo performance so there is a clear difference between the two.

Saturday May 16th:

Purity Ring @ Delmar Hall

Saturday May 30th:

Vinyl Williams @ Sinkhole

Kevin Morby @ Delmar Hall

Taking a look ahead:

July 24: Death Cab For Cutie & Nation of Language at The Stifel Theatre

October 13: DIIV opens for Interpol at The Factory

Just got back from EMC2 Festival and preparing for Movement Festival in Detroit over Memorial Day weekend — what’s on your live music radar?

I host Fresh Start every Monday morning on CRSTL.fm so feel free to tune in! It’s an honor to share in music discovery each week, I hope you get a chance to listen in!

Stay stellar,

~Ace
