Which palm looks better?
I like the way the areca palm in the first one matches the manzanita, but also really dig the contrast in the second photo

I have 11 violet corydoras and I never see them! Ever since I upgraded to this 40b from a 29 gallon they are extremely skittish and always hiding in the undergrowth.
Is my tank too well planted for them? How can I make them feel more comfortable coming out? Before I upgraded tanks they were my absolute favorite fish and always out and about. Now its like I don't have any at all.
I also have 16 pygmy corydoras that are super bold and swimming around all day, which is ironic since I hear they are usually more shy.
EDIT: I removed all of the pearlweed in the front and they immediately started coming out! I saw 8 of them within 10 minutes. They are still skittish if they see me move but come out pretty fast once I sit still.
People like this should be banned from having pets
He truly lives up to the name "peaceful betta." He lives with a huge colony of shrimp, and a whole bunch of nano fish and bottom feeders. The only time he gets mad is when he builds a bubble nest and starts strutting around the tank flaring at everyone. Other than that, he spends most of his time stalking through the undergrowth hunting worms and microfauna. He always comes out to investigate whenever I enter the room, and loves hanging out with me by the glass :')
I've gone through almost an entire bottle of prazipro 😒
Home to orange eyed blue tigers and a single yellow amano named Doris
5 gal bowl that will house shrimp once it establishes :) Currently home to a few ramshorns. The big rock is temporary to weigh down the wood. Currently only has a heater, but I have a tiny sponge filter running in one of my seasoned tanks that I will add before I get any shrimp.
Had to completely tear down and restart the tank because the soil became anoxic and started creating a bunch of hydrogen sulfide...
Attempt #2: Planted a random assortment of plants (mostly crypts) to see which ones grow best. Anything I can do to improve? Decided to forego any hardscape because I don't want to risk poisoning my tank again haha.
1 inch pond soil / 1 inch sand
Last attempt the sand all turned black, all of the plants dropped all of their leaves and turned black, and the smell was so bad I almost projectile vomited while cleaning out the tank. Thankfully all inhabitants were unharmed! I suspect it was due to too much hardscape on top of the substrate + not planting heavily enough.
She lost some of her pink, but you can still see it in the light. My petco baby girl is all grown up! She is quite feisty; the tyrant overload of her snail minions.
Pygmy corydora and shrimp for scale
I have four of these guys being delivered today to help sift the sand in my dirted tank. However, I am now seeing some posts saying that they can only survive in brackish water and always die off in freshwater. Does anyone have any experience with these guys?

I have a group of 9 CPDs from Aquatic Arts that I've had for a few weeks. I went to my LFS on Friday and picked up 6 more from a local breeder.
I woke up to a dead one the next morning. One more died Sunday, and a third Monday (last night). All look healthy aside from being noticeably paler than my original batch. They are engaging in spawning behavior and eating fine. They just... keep showing up dead.
Today, one of my CPDs (actually a hybrid that was accidentally mixed in) is rapidly declining. Clamped fins, trouble staying upright, lethargic, generally unwell. Not sure if something infectious has been introduced, or if it is unrelated to the ones that have been dying since those ones had no symptoms.
Video is of the newly sick fish. Photo of one of the pale new fish in the comments below.
Ammonia/Nitrite/Nitrate: 0/0/10
Temp 75
pH 7.2
No other tank inhabitants showing symptoms
TLDR: mystery deaths in new batch of CPDs, no symptoms. Established CPD now showing signs of illness and rapidly declining.
The last photo is from day one. Super happy with how all of my plants are starting to grow in! Already had to trim the rotala and ludwigia. Using a Week Aqua L900 for 8 hours a day, no algae at all so far.
$5 per snail. Most are about 2-3 months old, sexed males and females available as well as younger unsexed. I have about 12 ready for new homes right now! Last photo is of their mother (shell pitting from before I got her).
Picked up 10 Kuhli loaches today. I was expecting them to go straight into hiding since I keep reading about how shy they can be, but they are already acting like they own the place! They couldn't care less if I go up to the glass; my corydoras are more afraid of me than they are 😂
