Thoughts on Only child ?

Hi! I feel like I’d more than content with only 1 child.
My baby is 6 months now and my absolute life and I can’t image having to split my attention from him.
The reason like most that I think about having more than one child is because I would love for him to have a sibling and have somebody there for the day that I’m not here. I have two older sisters that I have no relationship relationships with. So that’s not even a reliable idea to just have it for that reason cause there’s no guarantees.

For those of you who only had one child, how did it go for you? Is there a part of you that still wanted another child? Is there a part of you that regretted having only one child? Or are you so damn glad you had one child? Would love to hear your experiences with us, please :) thank you!

Getting pregnant again before baby turns 1 ?

Hi! If you got pregnant again before your baby turned one how did it go? How was the pregnancy? How was dealing with your current baby while pregnant? Did you feel more prepared in the pregnancy or did you feel other issues? If you were breast-feeding, can you still continue to breast-feed while pregnant? Any other information you wanna give me on this I would absolutely love it and appreciate it. Thank you so much!

Tumble Matt vs 1.5 memory foam matt for playpen

Hi! So I’ve been stressing because my current play Matt setup I feel is too hard of a surface for baby now that he’s rolling, practicing sitting up and very soon standing ..
I have house of noa playmatt under my play pen and then the regular thin Matt that came with the playpen on top.
I was thinking about a tumble Matt but none fit the dimensions of my playpen.. I saw the new 1.5 inch cushioned rug Matt’s but is that too soft? I was thinking of putting one of the regular Matt’s on top of that to have wipeable surface.. I just don’t know if that is going to be too soft of a surface for crawling/standing/walking.. any feedback/experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thank you 🙏

Birth control postpartum

Hi everyone! I’m 6 months postpartum and still not on birth control because of how freaked out I am to make that decision … when I went to the doctors he was really against Paraguard because of the patient satisfaction rating, legit told me 50% of his patients remove it within 3 months..
thinking about the Mirena or the mini pill. I’m exclusively pumping so those are my options..
what have you guys done?

Safe clean lubricants to use postpartum that won’t affect breastmilk

Hi! What vaginal lubricants are we using?
Something that is safe to put in your body that won’t transfer to breast milk?
Sex has been super painful because of how dry breastfeeding has made me. Need a good lube but I’m scared picking one 🤦🏻‍♀️

full MIL rant. If you’ve ever dealt with family comparisons, favoritism, or boundary issues after having a baby… this one’s for you 😅

My MIL has always had this nasty habit of comparing people in order to elevate her daughter, herself, or her “favorite” family members while subtly putting down her son (my husband) and me.

A couple examples for context:

We went to a party once where one of my SIL’s friends was openly flirting with her boyfriend all night and staring at him nonstop. Later that night everyone was talking about it, and my MIL says to me:
“Yeah, she was looking at him (SIL’s boyfriend), but she was ALWAYS looking at yours too.”
Like why even say that? Why create unnecessary drama just so your daughter doesn’t look “less than” in a situation?

When my SIL had her baby and was struggling postpartum, my MIL tells me:
“She’s dealing with a little postpartum… YOU’RE going to go through the same thing.”
Why would you even put that energy on someone?

When her elderly mother was in the hospital:
“She has heart failure because of age, it’s normal… YOU’RE gonna go through that too one day.”

It’s CONSTANTLY this weird “you’re gonna go through that too” thing and it’s honestly so irritating and negative.

I’ve always treated her respectfully. We’ve only ever had one major fight, and that happened during wedding planning because she was personally offended that during COVID we couldn’t invite all of her friends due to venue restrictions. Restrictions eventually lifted and we accommodated anyway.

Small side note:
My in-laws are VERY well off. During our wedding planning they basically said paying for the wedding was my father’s responsibility and they wouldn’t help because their daughter would be getting married in a couple years and they needed to pay for HER wedding. Fast forward and they spent over $200k on my SIL’s wedding. Insane.

Now ever since I had my baby, things have felt extra weird.

My SIL had a baby a few months before me and EVERYTHING is a comparison between the kids. No one can say anything nice about my son without my MIL immediately bringing up the other baby too.

Example:
My sister on Mother’s Day says:
“Aww isn’t (my baby) so cute?”
And my MIL immediately responds:
“Yes, and SIL’s baby is too.”

Like… okay??? What does that even have to do with the conversation? Why can’t one grandchild be complimented without turning it into a comparison?

My husband and I have always been homebodies. We don’t party, we don’t go clubbing, we don’t constantly go out to expensive restaurants. That’s the complete opposite of my SIL and their family dynamic.

Since having my son, I genuinely WANT to be with him all the time. He’s only 3 months old. I don’t have this desire to constantly leave him with people so I can go out. I enjoy caring for him myself. I LIKE being with my baby.

Meanwhile my SIL regularly leaves her baby overnight with grandparents, goes out with friends, parties, has her MIL make all the baby’s meals, and both grandmas watch the baby constantly during the week and weekends.

And that’s HER choice. I don’t judge it.

But what annoys me is the constant criticism toward MY parenting because I choose differently.

I constantly hear:
“You need to get comfortable leaving the baby.”
“You need to go live your life.”
“Leave us the baby.”

And honestly… no. I like my child. I love my child. I WANT to be with him. I’m not wrong for wanting to care for my own 3 month old baby myself.

What makes it worse is I’ll hear comments from my MIL and then later hear the exact same opinions repeated by my SIL, so clearly they sit around talking about us.

Then recently things got even weirder with Facebook.

My husband and I had both expressed multiple times that we didn’t want solo photos of our son on Facebook. I personally didn’t want any photos posted at all, but we compromised and said no solo pictures.

She did it anyway.

When my husband confronted her, SHE BLOCKED ME ON FACEBOOK.

I texted her about it and she ignored me. Then my husband confronted her and she laughed it off and said she never blocked me. She even showed him her blocked list and by that point I magically was no longer blocked, but also no longer her friend on Facebook.

Then she texts me:
“Haha maybe YOU blocked me because I didn’t block you.”

Like ma’am… are you seriously gaslighting me right now?

At this point I’m exhausted.

For the sake of my husband I’ve tolerated so much because at the end of the day that’s his mother, but my entire dynamic with her has changed. I stopped answering right away, I keep conversations short, and I no longer entertain the nonsense.

The saddest part is that her behavior has genuinely affected how I feel toward my nephew, which makes me feel horrible because NONE of this is his fault. But when someone constantly creates this weird fake competition between two babies, resentment starts building whether you want it to or not.

And honestly that’s what scares me most:
This behavior is eventually going to affect the relationship between my son and his cousin.

She’s dividing the family with this constant comparison nonsense and it’s so unhealthy.

I also know I need to be smart about it because no one likes hearing someone trash their mother, especially a son. My husband is genuinely such a good man and I hate how she’s treated him over the years too, but I know I need to stop venting so aggressively about her to him because it hurts him.

Anyway… it’s 3am, I’m pumping, hormonal, irritated, and needed to vent. Thanks for reading if you made it this far lol.

Breastfed baby — random tiny speck of blood in stool after 2 weeks dairy-free?

About 2 weeks ago, my breastfed baby had tiny bright red specks of blood and some mucus in his stool for about 2–3 diaper changes. He was also very gassy at the time. The pediatrician suspected a dairy sensitivity and told me to cut out dairy, which I did immediately.

After those few diapers, the blood completely stopped and he had been fine for 2 weeks. Then today I noticed one speck of bright red blood again in his poop and now I’m anxious all over again.

Has anyone experienced this where things improved and then there was one random diaper with a tiny speck again? Could this still be part of the gut healing process even while dairy-free? Or could something else minor cause it?

He otherwise seems okay and it was only one speck this time.

We sleep with the ac at 72 and right now use a similar sleep sack to the kyte brand along with a magnetic me onesie underneath. Heard about the regulating fabric of the woolino and am curious. Has anyone used it and would you recommend in the Florida heat?

Baby has started to become more vocal and then today while playing I started hearing him start to like click a tongue like that loud like snap sounds you could make by clicking your tongue. He’s almost 3 months old and he was doing this just randomly while playing. He did it for like a little bit and he stopped and then he’s done it like a couple more times since.
I read online that this is like a milestone between four and six months. Is this true? Has anybody else seen this?
