4 failed IUIs - moving to IVF and scared

i’ve had 4 failed IUIs. it’s really disheartening as expected. im wondering if there is something wrong with the donor sperm im getting. my clinic keeps telling me i look perfectly fine! i am preparing for my next cycle which is going to now be IVF and just wanna know what i can do or if anyone has any advice on donor sperm. i used the same donor for rounds 1-3 and a new donor on #4. I called Create (fertility clinic in toronto that does IUI procedures) they said all the post sperm counts were “good”. i’m hearing contradicting things which sucks. anyways.. im starting IVF soon and im really feeling scared. i really want it to work. i’m hoping to hear some success stories. i’ve started acupuncture and im doing everything in my power to make me as healthy as possible. here are all of my results from previous IUIs:

IUI #1 (Natural Cycle) – March 2026
Left follicle: 18 mm (1.8 cm)
Estradiol (E2): ~1,197 pmol/L
LH: 16.11 IU/L
Endometrial lining: Clinic said it looked good
Post-wash sperm count: 4.35 million
Motility: 29%
Started progesterone after IUI
Blood test 14 days later:
β-hCG 11.92
48 hours later dropped to 6
Outcome: Chemical pregnancy

IUI #2 (Natural Cycle)
Post-wash sperm count: 5.38 million
Motility: 36%
Pregnancy test: Negative

IUI #3 (Medicated Cycle)
Clomid
Ovidrel trigger
Crinone progesterone
Hormone monitoring included:
FSH: 9.97
LH: 17.6
Estradiol values increased appropriately throughout monitoring (I have values including 1,118, 1,536, 2,236, and 5,609 pmol/L from that cycle’s monitoring, but not tied to specific days anymore)
Clinic only reported follicles once they reached ≥1.5 cm
Sperm count - 4 million @ 31% motility
Outcome: Negative pregnancy test

IUI #4 (Medicated clomid cycle)
Post-wash semen count and motility (minimum 1.5Million) = 4.63M AT 31%
Estrogen = 7921
LH level = 16.91
Right ovarian follicle(s) = 1.79
Left ovarian follicle(s) = 2.8 2.28 2.14

Overall Fertility Testing
AMH: 3.8 pmol/L
AFC:
Right ovary: 4
Left ovary: 6
Total AFC: 10

please let me know if anyone has any advice for someone newly starting IVF❤️

did my first fertility acupuncture today - does it help?

i’ve made a few posts about my couple failed IUI attempts. my first two were natural and unmedicated. the third round was done on clomid with the same donor from the first two rounds. the fourth iui we switched donors and did a round of clomid.

my clinic recommended trying acupuncture for fertility - so i did my first session today. i wanted to know if acupuncture helped anyone else in their IUI/fertility journey?

4th IUI failed - looking for advice before my August cycle

Hi everyone,

I just got the call today that my 4th IUI was unsuccessful, and I’m feeling pretty defeated.

Here’s my history:
IUI #1: Natural cycle → Chemical pregnancy
IUI #2: Natural cycle → Negative
IUI #3: Clomid cycle → Negative
IUI #4: New donor + progesterone after IUI → Negative
My clinic has told me that everything on my end looks good. After my first three IUIs, they thought the original donor may have been contributing to the lack of success, so my fiancée and I switched to a new donor for this cycle. (i’m in a relationship with a woman for context)

One thing that worried me was the post-wash motility, but my nurse told me that lower motility after thawing frozen donor sperm is common and expected, and that my doctor isn’t concerned that it’s the reason this cycle failed.

They’re now recommending that I consider injectable medications for my August cycle.

While my clinic is closed for the next couple of weeks, I’d love to hear from people who were in a similar situation.
Did anyone have success after 4+ IUIs?

Did switching from Clomid to injectables make a difference?

Did you do anything between cycles that you feel helped (diet, exercise, supplements, acupuncture, naturopath, etc.)?

Is there anything you wish you’d asked before starting injectables?

I know there’s no magic trick, but I’d love to hear what helped you physically or mentally before your successful cycle.

Thanks so much. ❤️

12 DPO Negative easy @ home test

Feeling so defeated. this is our fourth IUI and tested negative this morning at 12 DPO. I thought all my stats looked really good going into it, though i think the sperm count was in the lower side even after changing donors. is there any way to know if a donor will have a good sperm wash? this is so frustrating and becoming money down the drain :( i’m just so sad.

10 DPO Negative Test

hi friends, feeling very defeated. i’m on my fourth IUI and got a negative this morning at 10 DPO. did anyone get a stark negative on day 10 but get a positive later on? i really thought i was pregnant this time around.. and IUI is likely my only option as IVF is expensive. Any advice would be helpful

9 DPO IUI TWW Symptoms

hi everyone! so i’m on my fourth IUI and my history of IUIs are as follows:

  1. natural iui, got pregnant but ended with a chemical

  2. natural iui, didn’t take

  3. clomid cycle, didn’t take

the first three IUIs was with one donor. my doctors say everything looks great with me and that the donor may have been the issue - so my fiance and i switched to a new donor.

with that being said, i wanted to know for those who have had successful IUIs.. did you get pressure in your abdomen that feels like it’s on your bladder? it’s not necessarily painful but .. pressure! i’m also experiencing heaviness in my boobs and horrible fatigue.

and i know i know, im symptom spotting and also am on progesterone but wanting to know if anyone else who had successful IUIs experienced the abdomen pressure???

IUI reassurance stories

i’m on my fourth round of iui, here’s a breakdown of how they went

  1. natural iui, got pregnant but ended with a chemical
  2. natural iui, didn’t take
  3. clomid cycle, didn’t take

the first three IUIs was with one donor. my doctors say everything looks great with me and that the donor may have been the issue - so my fiance and i switched to a new donor.

i did my fourth round of iui last week and am currently 6dpo on progesterone. i’ve been feeling off on and off and feel pressure in my abdomen.. not pain.. but pressure.

anyways, i wanted to know if anyone had multiple iuis with success. i am worried because i read you’re most likely to get pregnant within the first 3 tries and odds drop significantly after that. thoughts??? below are mine/donors results

my results:

Estrogen = 7921

LH level = 16.91

Right ovarian follicle(s) = 1.79

Left ovarian follicle(s) = 2.8 2.28 2.14

donor post wash results:

Post-wash semen count and motility (minimum 1.5Million) = 4.63M AT 31%
