Are there European in NTU

I am wondering what the student community is like.
Are there many Western European students studying at NTU as full-time undergraduate students, or are they relatively rare?
I’d also love to hear about your experiences:
How easy is it to integrate?
Do European students mostly socialize with other international students or with local Singaporean students?
Is there a noticeable European community on campus?

Applying to less selective/less popular majors at US universities ,does this actually improve your chances

I recently got conflicting advice about US college admissions and would be interested in hearing from people with actual experience.
A college admissions consultant advised me to consider applying for less selective or less popular majors rather than highly competitive ones, arguing that this could significantly improve my chances of admission. He even suggested some very niche subjects (for example, something like Classical Anthropology or other relatively obscure fields) where there might be less competition.
However, my school’s college counsellor strongly disagreed and said this is basically nonsense , that at selective US universities, applying for a less popular major generally does **not** give you a meaningful admissions advantage, especially if the university admits students holistically.
So who is actually right?
Does applying for a less competitive/niche major genuinely increase your chances at selective US universities?
Are there universities where the intended major has a significant impact on admissions?
has anyone here actually seen this strategy work in practice?
I’m particularly interested in experiences with highly selective US universities (Ivy League and similar schools), rather than general advice from admissions consultants.

Applying to less selective/less popular majors at US universities, does this actually improve your chances?

An admissions consultant advised me to apply for less competitive/niche majors at US universities (e.g. obscure humanities subjects) rather than highly selective ones, saying this could improve my chances of admission.
My school’s college counsellor, however, says this is complete nonsense and that US universities generally don’t admit students more easily just because they choose a less popular major.
Who is right? Has anyone actually seen this strategy work at selective US universities?

looking for a tutor to help me prepare for the TMUA

I’m looking for a really good tutor to help me prepare for the TMUA. Ideally, someone who has extensive experience with the TMUA specifically and understands how to prepare for a high score, rather than just general maths tutoring.
If you’ve worked with a TMUA tutor yourself or know someone you would strongly recommend, I’d really appreciate any recommendations or experiences.
Thanks in advance!

Experiences with admissions tutors andapplication consultants?

I’m interested in hearing from people who have worked with an admissions tutor or am application advisor for UK university applications.
If you’ve had this kind of support, how was your experience? Did you find the feedback on your application and personal statement genuinely useful? Did it make a noticeable difference to your application?
I’d also be interested to hear if there are any tutors or advisors that people here have had particularly good experiences with.
Thanks in advance for any experiences or advice!

Has anyone used Profs Tutors? Are they worth the cost

I’m considering using Profs Tutors . But they are very expensive.
Has anyone here worked with them? If so, what was your experience like?
Did they genuinely improve your application and grades?
Was the advice personalized, or did it feel generic?
Do you think they were worth the money?
Would you recommend them, or are there better alternatives?
I’d really appreciate any honest feedback, especially from people who have used their services

Looking for a Tutor/Consultant for Application Strategy & Personal Statement

I’m looking for a tutor or admissions consultant who can help me with my application strategy and personal statement for top universities in UK
I’ve looked at several well-known consulting companies, but they seem very expensive. Unfortunately, I also had a disappointing experience with a professional consultant during the last application cycle, so I’m hoping to find someone who is experienced, honest, and provides more personalized guidance.
I’m mainly applying to highly selective universities for Economics (UK ), so experience with those applications would be a big plus.
If you’ve worked with someone you would genuinely recommend, or if you know an excellent independent tutor, I’d really appreciate your suggestions. Thank you!

Do undergraduate Economics research papers actually help with UCAS applications

I’ve been told several times that writing an independent Economics research paper can improve my chances of getting into top UK universities like LSE, Cambridge, UCL, or Imperial.
However, UCAS doesn’t seem to have a place to upload a research paper, so I’m wondering:
Do admissions tutors actually consider independent research papers?
If yes, how do they see them?
What kind of research is considered valuable (e.g. published, supervised, competition entry)?
Is writing a research paper genuinely worth the time, or is this just a common myth?
I’d really appreciate hearing from applicants or anyone familiar with the admissions process.

preparing for the TMUA

Hi everyone,

I’m preparing for the TMUA and would really appreciate any advice from people who have taken it before.

What was the most effective way for you to prepare? Are there any specific resources, books, websites, or practice strategies that helped you achieve a high score?

I’d be very grateful for any tips, recommendations, or lessons you learned during your preparation

Do small differences in offer rates actually matter

Hi everyone,

I have a question about the offer rates for different LSE courses.
Some courses have offer rates that differ by only around 3–4%. In practice, does such a small difference actually make a meaningful difference to an applicant’s chances?
Or is the quality of the applicant pool more important than the published offer rate? For example, could a course with a slightly higher offer rate still be just as difficult to get into because it attracts exceptionally strong applicants?

Bocconi Test vs SAT ,Which is the Better Choice for Admission

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to apply to Bocconi University next year and I'm wondering which admission test you would recommend: the Bocconi Test or the SAT.

Which one do you think gives applicants the better chance of admission?

For context, I'm quite strong in mathematics and I'll also be taking the TMUA around the same time.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has taken either test or has experience with Bocconi admissions. Thanks in advance for any advice!

During May, the majority of results sent out are rejections, a harsh truth . Offers tend to be issued earlier, in March or April; consequently, any applications that remain pending in May lean heavily toward rejection. This represents the historical trend, even if there are exceptions. The closer we get to May 13th without having received a decision, the worse the statistical chances become, simply because the strongest candidates tend to receive their offers earlier. This is a historically consistent pattern I checked in posts of the last years here and on TSR . It is certainly possible, that offers come, though it becomes less likely the later it gets, most of the rejections will be issued shortly before May 13th. I know, that it is hurt, the factual reality remains, the mere fact of still waiting is not a good sign. Furthermore, and this is also worth noting, Office Holder Day on April 29th has now passed; by that date, nearly 90% of all Office positions had been filled.
