I’m looking for ARC readers for my epic fantasy releasing this October!

It’s a multi-POV epic fantasy with a strong romance arc, set in a world that has forgotten the fae kingdoms exist. When humans start disappearing and a dormant power begins stirring beyond the human border, a blacksmith hiding behind a stolen identity, a grieving duke trying to hold a fracturing empire together, and a girl searching for her missing best friend are drawn into the return of the fae after generations of silence.

If that sounds like your kind of read, I’d be happy to share more details!

Hey, bookstagrammers! What actually makes you stop and want to buy a book when you see content on Instagram?

Is it reviews? The cover? The blurb? Videos with the author in them talking about process?

Any Sanderson, Hobb, or Abercrombie fans out there interested in being an ARC reader for my book?

It’s a multi-POV epic fantasy with a side of romance, set in a world that has forgotten the fae ever existed. When humans begin disappearing and a long-dormant power stirs, a blacksmith living under a stolen identity, a grieving duke struggling to hold a fracturing empire together, and a girl searching for her missing best friend are drawn into the return of the fae after generations of silence. The decisions they make could change the world as they know it. Let me know!

Any other indie authors out there have a book that's more epic fantasy than romance, but the romance plot technically makes it romantasy, but it's not a true romantasy, as romantasy readers would think about it?

I would love to connect on how you are approaching marketing. I have tried both romantasy angle and epic fantasy angle - I don't feel either are true. My book is also multi-POV and a little moody.

What was the turning point?

Question for indie authors whose IG was growing slowly for a long time then suddenly saw momentum pick up… What did you do differently? Was it a certain post? A change in content type that led to traction? Appreciate your advice and thoughts!

Critique My Book Teaser, Please

I’ve been having the worst time on social media, honestly. If I had known how hard marketing would be for my book, I would never have written it 😅😭

I’ve tried so many types of content and hooks and strategies and at this point I need someone to HONESTLY tell me WHY it’s not working. Can you take a look at this teaser and just absolutely tear it to shreds so I can improve? Thank you!

(I swear not book promo… my book isn’t out yet, I’m just trying to understand Bookstagram and Instagram Marketing).

Link to Sign-Up Here!

When a blacksmith's desperate battlefield lie spirals far beyond his control, a grieving duke, a merchant's daughter, and a girl searching for her missing best friend find themselves pulled into the same growing conflict. As tensions fracture the human empire and the fae emerge from generations of silence, old stories, dangerous loyalties, and impossible choices collide in a war that could reshape the world.

I will send ARCs this summer.

Hi, indie author here! Asking Bookstagram for help to grow

Hi! I’m a relatively new indie fantasy author on Instagram and still trying to figure out how Bookstagram works.

I’ve been working on my debut epic romantasy for years and recently started sharing content about the book. I’d love to connect with more readers, reviewers, and fellow book lovers. If you enjoy fantasy, romantasy, worldbuilding, character art, or following an indie author’s journey to publication, I’d be incredibly grateful if you’d check out my page.

I’m here: @authorireneedwards

Thank you so much for any support or advice you can share 🤍🤍🤍

Advice for faceless author Instagram, please.

The backstory: I just wrote my first book and am self-publishing later this year. I've created an Instagram to help with marketing because that seems to be the thing to do. Aside from it being an absolute slog to grow organically, I'm doing myself no favors by being faceless... I just really prefer to maintain my privacy as much as possible and keep my content about the book. The issue I'm seeing with this, though, is that authentic human content really does perform better. What's a girl to do??

I've tried to character-driven content (working with designers on character art). I've tried world-related content. I've tried teasers on plain backgrounds. I've tried random footage and teaser text over it. I feel very stuck, ranging at 50-300 views per post. Granted, the book doesn't even have a cover yet (currently working with designer on this) and not available for pre-order... so, my options are limited and I'm probably a little early (though, I will say, I don't regret starting early because I'm learning A LOT).

All that said, any advice for content that might resonate for a faceless author account just trying to get their book out there? What would make you stop and want to follow along? Who have you seen do faceless well? Appreciate any and all honest thoughts here.

I'm including a link to my account here, but no pressure to look. It's only if you want to check it out and be brutally honest with me about what's not working. https://www.instagram.com/authorireneedwards/

Can I get honest opinions on the concept for my book cover?

I’m self-publishing my debut novel later this year and currently working with a design company on the cover. They’ve shared this concept with me, and I’m just not sure how I feel about it. Something feels off? Hoping to get honest opinions. Thank you!

For context: the book is an adult epic fantasy (with a side or romance!) following a fractured empire on the brink of war, where political unrest, ancient faith, and rising tensions with the long-forgotten and isolated fae begin pulling the world toward catastrophe. As old powers stir beyond the mountains, a blacksmith’s desperate lie and a duke’s struggle to hold his people together become tangled in something far larger than either of them realizes.

It’s so hard to find a community.

Hey, fellow debut & fantasy authors! I have found it to be very lonely and tough out there. I would love to build a more of a community (I’m just starting out). Let’s connect on IG and/or TikTok? Comment on one of my posts so I know you found me through this message & I’ll support you with a follow back and engagement on your posts! Can’t wait to see your journeys & hear about your books 🖤

Why does one IG hook work for some people but not for… me? 😅

There’s all this viral advice out there… just find a viral video and change one word to keep the hook that works but make it your own twist! LOL so I have. I’ve copied the same hook, minimally changed the content. FIVE VIEWS in 3 hrs when my videos usually get 100 in that time 🤣 how is it possible that some hooks work for some accounts but not others? It makes no sense! I’ll grant you that it’s possible my content is sub par. But 5 views vs a viral video with the same hook sub par? It’s actually kind of hysterical, this algorithm is. Had anyone else experienced this? Is the advice to copy viral hooks just a scam?
