I need to replace the battery in my cal 22. It has an outboard engine only and doesn’t connect to shore power, its only purpose is to power running/steaming lights and a couple cabin lights.
What would you recommend as a dependable, quality option? Can I get away with a car battery?
Bonus if it’s reasonably lightweight for racing :)
Planning a passage from Portland to Astoria and wanted to ask if anyone has done this. In particular, are there recommended moorings/docks along the way? How many days should I reasonably plan this taking? Any advice for the return upriver back to Portland?
I have to reseal the windows on my 1985 cal 22. Someone suggested if I were to use 3M 4200, I’d be doing the job again in a couple years.
Thought? Is there an alternative I should consider to seal the plexiglass window to the fiberglass hull?
I have a plexiglass window that needs to be replaced. Where can I take the existing as a template to have a new one made? Ideally cast acrylic (Plexiglas brand) or polycarbonate, 3/16” or 1/4” thick.
Any plastics or hardware store that can do this?
I have a new sailboat and need people to sail with. Where are the river rats among us who are looking for a ride on a chill boat for fun daily sails?
I have a new to me Cal 22 that I’m excited to get out sailing on the Columbia. My issue is that I need to find people to sail with. I posted on sailpdx but it’s a pretty slow drip. Any sailors in the PDX area here want to get out on the water?
This weekend looks particularly great.
Any Jamaican/Caribbean specialty store you know that stock Ting? I’ve got some Wray & Nephew and want to have myself a holiday this weekend.

Wanting to learn a bit more on dehumidifier types and uses. I have a 22’ boat that I’ll keep in the water year ‘round. I don’t have a sink to keep a compressor dehumidifier running when at dock. Is the Air Dryer with fan a viable option for the summer? Other strategies I should consider to control moisture?
Planning a passage on the Columbia, my first time on those waters. Can anyone share more detail about shipping lanes to be conscious of as I head up river? I’m used to sailing puget sound and those lanes are much more obvious on maps.
Appreciate any insights navigating from sauvie island to Hayden island and how to not piss off any freight traffic and avoid sketchy scenarios!
Newer sails, solid engine, and dry. Purchased on west coast for just under 5k. Tell me she’s pretty, tell me I’m dumb, and any other advice you might have.
