Leasing a car in FL

Do they do a hard credit inquiry when you apply to lease a car in FL?

I have 700 credit score so I don’t want to knock it down since I’m right on the brink.

What are the costs associated with buying a car in Florida (registration/title etc)

Hi, I’ve never gotten my own car before. My old car was from my parent and I have it registered and titled with license plates in FL. If I wanted to get a new car, what extra fees could I plan to budget for and how much are they? I wanted to keep my license plate and transfer it to the new vehicle. How much are the extra fees and costs and what are they for?

Thanks!

Any progressive agents/claims specialists for bodily injury claims? (Auto insurance)

I am the insured working with a claims specialist on a bodily injury claim. For the settlement agreement of $50k the full coverage I have of bodily injury coverage, the other party’s firm is requesting two clauses be included in the general release for their willingness to settle. I need the two clauses they are requesting removed to protect myself because the clauses requested by his firm leave the door open for exposure in the future. It was a fender bender and he was fine after the accident, but that is beside the point at this time.

I’d like to ask an insurance claim specialist/agent/adjuster how likely an auto claims specialist would be to work with this/push for this and succeed. I can’t call my insurance agent/company until they are back in town tomorrow and would like to be prepared for the call.

The two clauses to be removed from the General Release are:

  1. Reservation of First Party Benefits
  2. Reservation of Claims

Thank you for any help or insight.

Bodily Injury Claim (I’m at fault)

can someone answer the part about the two clauses and how that leaves me exposed to further litigation after the settlement from progressive*

I received a letter from my insurance agent, with the attached letter from the other party’s law firm claiming herniated disks (he was fine and healthy after the accident, smiling walking around and it was 15mph his car was barely damaged but mine was, no airbags deployed). He says he’s in pain now and has had injections/PT/and possible recommended surgery for $150k but he’s keeping his options open. I can’t call my insurance agent to ask until next Tuesday when she gets back. I don’t know if he’s truthful.

The letter from the other party’s lawyer is asking to settle for the bodily limit from my insurance $50k and then states with the General release is must include the two clauses 1. Reservation of first party benefits and 2. Reservation of Claim(s)

Does that mean that even with the settlement from my insurance of $50k he would sue me later? What do those two clauses mean? can I ask my insurance to drop the clauses with the settlement? Why are they trying to keep those two clauses with the settlement?

Also—- the other party’s law firm/lawyer is claiming total economic and non-economic damages of $4,700,000.00+ (saying a jury would side of his verdict for $113k per year for the rest of his life). Is this true? Are they going to try to sue me even after the settlement with the insurance for the $50k bodily limit?

I’m broke and alone I’m a 32 (F) just finishing school doing an unpaid internship. I have no money. I’m also unemployed outside of the unpaid internship. both letters from his attorney and my insurance company say (the damages claimed by _____ could exceed the bodily limits and you could be held personally responsible for any verdict above and over your coverage) if one were entered against you.

The other party’s firm says they do not want to move to litigation and prefer to settle for the $50k with my insurance company and keep the two clauses above (reservation of first party benefits and reservation of claims). Is that so he can sue me later if he decides his back gets worse? They mentioned something about a $150k surgery and chiropractors. I feel like he’s just trying to get money but I don’t know— the entire thing was a small mistake and fender bender. What is likely to happen and can someone explain the clauses to me— why his firm is pushing for them in the general release? Should I hire a personal injury defense lawyer? I’m broke/have no assets. The other party asked for my employment status although it is optional. I don’t have a job I’m doing an unpaid internship.
