Anyone using birth control for perimenopause symptoms? What has it helped?

I’m 40 and considering trying birth control to help with my symptoms. I also have PMDD and ADHD.

My biggest issues are mood changes, extreme fatigue, brain fog, and difficulty with executive functioning.

For those of you who have found birth control helpful during perimenopause:

Which birth control are you taking?

Which symptoms has it helped the most?

How long did it take before you noticed an improvement?

If you considered HRT too, what made you and your doctor choose birth control instead?

Has anyone had success treating PMDD with birth control, especially around perimenopause?

I’ve been considering trying birth control for PMDD. I’m also in perimenopause (just turned 40), so I’d especially love to hear from anyone around my age or who has dealt with both PMDD and perimenopause.

My biggest symptoms are mood changes, extreme fatigue, and brain fog. I also have ADHD and CPTSD and the symptoms from both of those increase during luteal.

For those of you who found birth control helpful:

Which birth control are you taking?

Which symptoms did it help the most?

How long did it take before you noticed an improvement?

Were there side effects or an adjustment period?

If you’re in perimenopause, did that affect what your doctor recommended or how you responded?

Is there anything you wish you’d known before starting?

I know everyone responds differently, but I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, including which types/brands worked for you.

Another house sitter taking over before the owners return- anything you do differently?

Is there anything you’d recommend doing to make sure there are no issues? I was thinking about taking pictures or a quick video of the house as I leave to send the owners, just so there’s a record of how I left everything. Is that something you’d do, or does that seem like overkill?

Does anyone else feel uncomfortable house sitting for wealthier clients?

I’ve been getting more house sitting opportunities lately, and I’ve noticed I can really get in my head and anxious when I’m in particularly nice homes, both during the meet & greet and while I’m actually staying there.

I grew up working class and am going through a period of financial struggle myself, so I sometimes start feeling out of place or worrying that I come across that way. I’m also a poc, and these clients and neighborhoods are predominantly white, which I think adds another layer to how self-conscious I can feel.

They always tend to mention how close-knit their neighbors are, which probably isn’t meant this way, but sometimes makes me feel like they’re subtly telling me I’m being watched.

The clients themselves have all been really nice, and I want to keep taking these kinds of jobs. I’m just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and has any advice for getting out of your head and feeling more at ease in these spaces and interactions?

Please recommend your favorite yoga channels on YouTube

For people that dislike Yoga with Adriene. Something about her commentary I can’t stand but it’s always recommended.

Owners - what are the things that really make you want to rehire a sitter?

Or to sitters also, what are the things you’ve been told you do that often gets you rehired?

What has been your go-to facial sunscreen this summer?

I’m in the market for a new one.

Thinking about trying Eucerin Age Defense SPF 50 if anyone can comment on that one in particular, but open to suggestions!

I’m looking for movies that portray financial abuse well

I’m looking for movies that depict financial abuse in a relationship. This could include controlling access to money, preventing a partner from working, creating financial dependence, or using finances as a form of control. Any recommendations?

I’m looking for movies or tv series that portray financial abuse well?

I find this topic isn’t shown very often. I’ve already thought of MAID, but would love to hear any suggestions you may have. Thanks!

What are the less obvious signs on someone’s profile that people haven’t had a good experience with them?

I’ve been seeing posts on here about how people will leave nice reviews because they’re scared to say the truth and face any consequences- I’m guessing it’s mainly about wanting to be rehired?

But then someone sits for the dog, has an awful experience, and ends up feeling confused why no one warned them.

I have a sit coming up that I was on the fence about taking, but the sitter feedback made me think it would be ok. But checking it again, I did notice that while they all said he was sweet, not one said they’d watch him again.

So I was wondering, what are some “read between the lines” signs in sitter feedback or in general on someone’s profile that make you hesitate before accepting a booking?

Is this an automatic red flag?

When people say their dogs don’t like strangers, and so they need you to come by multiple times before the sit so they can get comfortable with you. Do you think that’s an automatic red flag?

Especially considering that the owners would be there on the visits but then who knows how the dog would do when it’s only you for the actual sit?

I’ve been getting a few requests like this recently and would love to hear others thoughts on this.

For those who pet sit outside of Rover, do you have a website or social media presence?

For those of you who also pet sit independently, do you have a website, social media accounts, Google Business Profile, business cards, or something else?

I’m curious about what you’ve found worthwhile for building your presence outside the platform.

Have you found a website to be worth the effort, or have business cards been enough?

What would you do in this situation?

I accepted a boarding for 1 night. They booked it a month ago. I just got asked to housesit for a week that would overlap the boarding night.

For the housesit they requested that I spend every night there but they don’t mind if I’m gone during the day.

Im not sure if I should just cancel the boarding (I know it’s not the professional thing to do) or let the owners know I could still do it if they are ok that I wouldn’t be there over night.

How long before the service can you cancel without it getting flagged on your profile? I also worry that even if they say it’s ok, they might leave a bad review because of the situation.

I’m having a hard time because I really hate letting people down- they would only have 9 days to find a replacement, but I also need the income.

What does your routine look like for your neck?

I’ve noticed some crepey skin on mine and so a few months ago I started using the Gold Bond Neck and Chest cream for it. I put it on in the morning after I shower and then apply sunscreen throughout the day. I haven’t been doing any thing to the area at night.

I haven’t noticed any changes though so I’d like to change things up. Please let me know what you’ve found that has made the biggest difference.

How do you deal with male clients that give you creepy or uncomfortable vibes?

So this guy has messaged me a couple times about wanting me to come over to cuddle with his dog, which just felt odd to me.

He also lives close, and after seeing him near my home since then, I’ve started feeling on edge about the situation.

I’m mostly wondering how other women handle situations like this while still trusting their instincts and protecting their sense of safety.

I recently accepted a boarding request (after a meet and greet) for a 15-year-old Chihuahua mix. During the meet and greet, I noticed his legs were very shaky when standing, his eyes were cloudy, and the owner said he mostly stays in his crate and needs help getting outside (and sometimes has accidents in the crate).

At the time, it seemed like something I could manage, but now I’m starting to second-guess if I should cancel the booking or not. The owners didn’t seem to think he’s end of life though, didn’t mention it and even said it’s fine if I leave him by himself for awhile. So perhaps I’m over thinking it.

For those with more experience:
- Do you take bookings like this?
- What factors do you consider before saying yes to an older dog with higher needs?
- Would you cancel even though it will hurt your profile?

I’d really appreciate any advice or perspective.
