How far is reasonable to travel for a hospital referral?

A friend's GP has given advice, said to get a referral to a specialist at a hospital. Current options are all over 1 hour drive or nearly 3 hours on public transport. Is this normal? Is the problem that we're on county borders? Is there anything that can be done to push back for a more practical option? Should we seek private support instead?

Feels wild to expect sick people to travel that far for the help they need. I know the NHS is suffering but this feels absolutely mental! We are in the countryside but within an hour of several cities. Just want a sense check and any ideas that might make this easier to deal with.

Hi-Tack Permanent Fabric Glue not drying or going tacky, help?

Trying to recover an IKEA lampshade with new fabric, I was gonna sew it onto an existing fabric shade but the shop assistant recommended Hi-Tack Permanent Fabric Glue instead, the instructions on the bottle seems simple enough and figured it might save me some time.

It's just not sticking or going tacky enough for me to move onto the next seam. I've had to use a bunch of cans to hold the fabric down which it dries. I've reapplied a couple of times to ensure it's thoroughly coated but now I'm worried I've ruined the fabric and the lampshade base.

I appreciate that the glue shouldn't be completely dry for 24 hours but should be dry enough that I can move the piece to continue working. Have tried ironing to speed things but but that's not compatible with the plastic coating on the lampshade even with some greaseproof paper in between and risks warping the frame.

Does anyone have any tips for me please?

Does anyone else hate that lingerie defaults to lace?

I get that it's supposed to be pretty and feminine and it's historically been the go to material for many reasons, but I just really hate lace. There are some exceptions if the design is unique or the quality is high but I'd say that in my opinion 80% of lingerie lace is awful.

I don't like how it looks, I don't like how it's usually synthetic fabric so therefore not as comfortable, I don't like how it shows throw some clothing, I don't like the texture on my skin for prolonged periods of time. I don't like how it makes the cost of a garment higher because of the complexities of manufacturing lace. I feel like a total freak because most underwear is lace.

As you can imagine this makes it incredibly difficult to buy nice underwear. So I have two questions:

1- does anyone else share my aversion to lace?
2- can anyone recommend any brands available in Europe that don't default to lace?

I'd love to find some lovely simple designs in fun colours (nude and pink can also fuck off) ideally in natural fabrics but I'm ok with stretchy synthetics if it's soft and washes well. Does my ideal underwear brand exist or should I just learn how to make my own!!?

This lipstick ad is stalking me and it's driving me mad.

1- I'm not 40+ yet and can't believe I'm being talked to like I'm a grandma already.

2 - they say 40+ women prefer nude lipsticks and this is different when all I can see is another boring nude lipstick it just had a tiny swirl of gold in the bullet.

3- they say 40+ women should wear red lipstick but the ad creative is for nude (they do have a red but it's just a normal red you could get anywhere)

4 - why are we talking to age 40+ women like they are done and old when this generation of 40+ women are nothing like the previous. We grew up with MySpace and alternative fashion and the Spice Girls, it's not the same as previous generations.

If you want to get your individuality back at any age you don't need a brand targeting your age group you just need to decide what you like. Go try on things and if you want blue or green or red lipstick you have so many to choose from!

Signed, not quite 40+ yet and currently obsessed with Unearthly Cosmetics Menacing Metals, today's shade is basically sparkly black.

Anyone else annoyed by this sort of marketing?

I'm so annoyed. I've spent a lot of time last month listing stuff for sale in a bid to clear up some space and then this week I've had a message saying that half my listings are hidden and I'm banned from selling or listing new things for a week (annoyingly right over pay day when I likely would have sold more!!)

They're saying I need a pro account cos the sorts of things they've hidden make it look like a professional shop. I challenged this and asked for clarification but they just sent me the same message they sent originally. No help at all.

Some of the items are personal items that were unwanted gifts, some are unused craft supplies from an old Etsy shop I had and some are handmade jewellery that's been listed on Vinted for over a year without an issue. So I understand their complaint a bit but don't see it as a Pro account level of need, I've made about £60 last month so barely entrepreneur money and half of it I spent on other items on Vinted!!

They're now saying I have to sign up to Pro account or remove these items. I don't want a Pro account, I not planning on making more than the UK personal allowance for resale items and once I've sold this batch of things I don't have anything else to list in the foreseeable future.

I'm so annoyed, like I'm being punished for being too good at Vinted as was selling fast and getting great reviews.

Has anyone successfully appealed this or should I just temporarily set up Pro just to get things moving again?? Any other suggested route to appealing that won't just get a copy and paste repeated reply??

Started planting petals to complete this mission, it said there was 1500 petals more than enough to complete this quest and then I'm 4 short. I am so annoyed. How can I reliably plan these things?
