Valheim vs upcoming survival games — what are you most excited for?

I’ve been following a few upcoming survival/crafting games lately, and each one seems to be taking the genre in a different direction.

Valheim vs Forgebound vs Light No Fire

Valheim is already the classic reference — exploration, survival, co-op progression, and that simple but addictive loop.

The others are all still upcoming and in development:

Forgebound (Amilcar Technologies - my solo game) — a medieval fantasy survival game focused on building, crafting, survival, and large-scale progression. It takes place in a war-torn world where players gather resources, construct settlements, manage supplies, and expand their influence while facing hostile forces. It's like Age of empire + Valheim + bannerlord

Light No Fire (Hello Games) — a massive survival exploration game set on a full planet-scale world. It focuses on discovery, traveling across huge diverse landscapes, survival systems, and building your own path in an almost endless fantasy environment.

How can we better support African game development?

Hi everyone,

I'm an indie game developer from Tunisia currently working on a medieval survival strategy game called Forgebound.

It got me thinking: Africa has so many talented developers, artists, musicians, and storytellers, yet we rarely see African-made games getting the same visibility as projects from Europe, North America, or Asia.

As Africans, what do you think we can do to better support game development across the continent? Is it simply a matter of buying the games, wishlisting them, sharing them with friends, or is there something else we're missing?

If you're curious about what game development looks like in Tunisia, I'm happy to answer questions about the process and share my experience.

And if you'd like to support an African indie project, checking out or wishlisting Forgebound on Steam would genuinely help a lot.

I'd also love to discover other African-made games, so if you know any, please share them!

Is the EU moving toward product-level carbon footprint requirements, or will company-level reporting remain the main focus?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to understand how EU climate policy is evolving around emissions tracking and reporting.

I’m part of a small tech company working on carbon accounting tools that measure both:

  • Company-level emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3)
  • Product-level carbon footprints across full life cycles (materials, production, transport, use, end-of-life)

Our system is based on frameworks like the GHG Protocol and ISO 14067, and is designed to support regulatory reporting concepts like CBAM and corporate carbon disclosure requirements.

From what I’ve seen so far, EU climate policy strongly focuses on:

  • company-level emissions reporting (CSRD / ESRS)
  • carbon pricing mechanisms (ETS, CBAM)
  • supply chain transparency (Scope 3 reporting is increasing)

However, I’m curious whether there is a longer-term direction toward product-level carbon footprint requirements within EU policy.

So my question is:

Do you think the EU is moving toward requiring or standardizing product-level carbon footprint reporting, or will company-level reporting remain the main regulatory focus?

More specifically:

  • Could product-level carbon data become part of future EU regulation beyond CBAM (e.g. for manufacturing, textiles, batteries)?
  • Or is it likely to remain voluntary / industry-driven through supply chain pressure?
  • How do you see this evolving alongside CSRD and the European Green Deal?

I’m asking from a research perspective to better understand how EU policy is expected to evolve in practice.

Would really appreciate any insights from people familiar with EU climate policy or sustainability regulation.

Forgebound — the first medieval survival strategy game from Tunisia 🇹🇳

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a small project I’ve been working on called Forgebound.

It’s a medieval survival strategy game where you build, craft, manage resources, and grow your settlement in a harsh, war-torn world. You don’t just survive — you expand, organize, and lead your people while shaping how your kingdom develops over time.

This is also the first survival strategy game being developed in Tunisia, which is something I’m really proud of as an indie developer.

The game is still in active development, and I’m sharing progress early to get feedback from survival/strategy fans so the direction can evolve with real player input.

If it looks interesting to you, you can wishlist it on Steam — it really helps a lot at this stage and supports the project more than anything else.

Thanks for checking it out 🙏

How are product-level carbon footprints being used in carbon credit systems and compliance markets today?

Hi everyone,

I’m part of a small tech company called Amilcar Technologies, and we’ve been building a carbon accounting platform focused on emissions tracking and product-level carbon footprints.

The system calculates:

  • Organizational emissions (Scope 1, 2, 3)
  • Product carbon footprints (cradle-to-grave lifecycle)
  • Supplier-level emissions contributions
  • Reporting outputs aligned with frameworks like GHG Protocol, ISO 14067, and CBAM-style regulatory structures

I’m trying to better understand how product-level carbon data is actually being used in real carbon markets and compliance workflows.

So I’d like to ask:

How is product-level carbon footprinting currently used (if at all) in carbon credit systems, compliance markets, or voluntary carbon reporting?

More specifically:

  • Is product-level carbon data actually considered in carbon credit methodologies, or is it still mostly organizational-level accounting?
  • Do buyers or registries value granular product-level emissions data when evaluating projects or offsets?
  • Is there any movement toward linking supply chain/product footprints with carbon credit verification or MRV systems?
  • Or is this still largely separated from carbon credit markets today?

I’m asking from a technical and research perspective, trying to understand where the industry is actually heading beyond company-level reporting.

I’m happy to share more about our methodology if relevant, but my main goal is to learn how practitioners in carbon markets are thinking about this.

How are Swiss companies preparing for product-level carbon footprint and supply chain emissions reporting?

Hi everyone,

I’m part of a small tech company called Amilcar Technologies, and we’ve been working on a software platform that helps companies calculate and manage carbon emissions and product-level carbon footprints.

It covers:

  • Company emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3)
  • Product carbon footprint across full lifecycle (materials, production, transport, use, end-of-life)
  • Supplier-level emissions tracking
  • Reporting aligned with frameworks like GHG Protocol, ISO 14067, and EU CBAM requirements

I’m trying to better understand how this topic is evolving in different countries, especially Switzerland.

So I’d like to ask:

How are Swiss companies currently dealing with carbon reporting requirements, and do you see product-level carbon footprint tracking becoming important in Switzerland in the near future (especially for exporters or industrial sectors)?

A few related questions:

  • Are Swiss companies mainly focused on company-level emissions reporting today, or is product-level analysis already being adopted?
  • How much pressure comes from EU supply chains vs local Swiss regulation?
  • Are SMEs involved in carbon reporting, or is it mostly large corporations?
  • Do you see tools that improve supply chain transparency being widely adopted or still niche?

I’m asking from a research perspective to better understand how different regions are approaching this transition.

If anyone is interested, I can also share more details about how we approach product-level carbon calculations, but my main goal here is to understand the Swiss market perspective.

A Game Built by the Community - Forgebound on Steam

This game is being developed by one person, but it's truly being built by a community.

The idea is simple: everyone can help shape the game. Whether it's a gameplay idea, a feature suggestion, a quality-of-life improvement, or even a small detail you think would make the game better—your opinion matters.

If your idea is implemented, you'll be credited in the game's credits as one of the people who helped build it.

I want this to be more than just my game. I want it to be our game.

So if you've ever wanted to leave your mark on a game, now's your chance. Share your ideas, challenge existing ones, and help create something together.
