Thoughts on General Grabber ATX for daily city driving and occasional cross country trips?

They’re not as aggressive as Toyo or Falkin but 275 is as big as I can go right now and don’t think 10-ply is necessary or preferred for long hauls which is how I ended up here. I’m in the north so snow, ice and wet roads will be a regular occurrence

Best tires for stock TRD OR Hybrid — dry freeway, snow, ice, rain, dirt, and mud?

I live between the north east coast and Michigan so there is a full spectrum of weather / road conditions. No level kit or lift so not sure what to get or what size. Heard nitto grapplers are not great in the snow or rain but curious your guys’ thoughts are for what to throw on the stock wheels

Safest practices to leave a non-smart home vacant for 30 days

I’m asking this regarding all the things that come into concern with leaving a home vacant for an extended period of time — security, electrical, flooding / water, weather, landscaping, HVAC, mold, pests, etc.

Curious to hear what people practice to prepare their homes for extended periods of vacancy to ensure the safety and security of their belongings and the structure itself (I.e. setting thermostat to 79 degrees, leaving a light on, turning off certain breakers, etc.).

Thanks!

Solutions for constantly sweaty hands

Before I explain the issue, let me preface by saying this has been an embarrassing insecurity of mine for as long as I can remember. I have palmar hyperhidrosis which means my hands are pretty much always sweaty unless I’m outside in below 30 degree weather. This has mostly been an issue for meeting new people and shaking hands but sometimes becomes an issue with gripping things. Anything without a very aggressive texture becomes slippery and wet, like 95% of handguns.

I am in search of something that can negate this issue with my CCW without interfering with my holster setup or creating new issues. My HD pistols have talon grip tape on pretty much all surfaces, that is essentially just sand paper. They also have red dots. I don’t have an issue racking these even with sweaty hands because of the aggressive texture and the secondary option of using the optics as a point of leverage — completely removing the need for friction. Problem is, I cannot put this sandpaper texture all over my CCW without it absolutely destroying my clothing and skin IWB. I also would really prefer to stick with iron sights for my CCW as well.

I know there are “charging handle” add-on options but most of them will not work with most holsters. There is a soft loop-style charging handle but to be honest, it looks ridiculous and I can’t see myself relearning how to clear malfunctions or something as simple as racking the slide to be pulling on this backend loop thing.

Anyone else deal with this or ideas for solutions within the parameters I’m trying to work with? I recognize that I may need to change my setup to accommodate but figured I’d ask the crowd first, thanks.

My nervous system is destroyed

I was laid off 2.5 months ago from a leadership position at a company I had planned to be at for the rest of my career and have been aggressively working towards new employment nearly all day everyday. I’ve applied to roughly 200 positions with tailored resumes, cover letters and portfolios for each of them. Non stop connection searching and relationship development, vigilantly selling myself in hopes of referrals in every message. I’ve had close to 100 interviews at this point, answering the same questions over and over. Some processes for a single company being over a dozen interviews before receiving rejection. I’m now entering the “final stage” for a couple companies that I have been talking to for nearly this entire stretch of time.

I am completely fried.

I simply cannot take a deep breath. My heart rate will not come down. My palms are clammy and hands constantly trembling. My anxiety around this all just continues to climb and has finally reached a point where it’s constant. Not just before interviews, not just when applying, all day everyday.

I feel ridiculous that this is how my body is reacting — I objectively am doing well, all things considered. There is just something about this process that’s destroying my nervous system and starting to get worried that if I don’t land a job soon, I will start to see a significant drop in my ability to sell myself effectively.

I don’t know why this is eating me up but I have also never been in this type of situation before — the carpet was pulled out from under me and reality is starting to set in.

Do all holsters that fit the TLR-1 also fit the Harbor Freight Braun 1000?

I know it’s a clone but want to be sure that it’s an exact fit when it comes to holsters.

Thoughts on the Taurus 856 as a first revolver?

Not new to firearms but have never owned or even shot a revolver. Also not a fan of Taurus but this price is pretty unreal for a wheel gun. I’d prefer to stay on the cheaper side because I am not in need of any more HD or carry guns, this would be more for becoming familiar with the platform and adding something different to the collection.

Do you have a different CCW for around your house / property?

Listen, I love my M&P Shield in 9mm but it’s not something I would consider “so comfortable it’s almost like I don’t even know it’s there.” And I need to wear certain clothes if I want to carry it effectively. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how I should be carrying at home, even if there are firearms nearby. The reality of home invasions and violent crimes are that there is no way to anticipate when or how it happens. I may not have the luxury of “retrieving” a weapon and I may not even be home to protect my family in an emergency situation.

Long story short, I’d like to get something micro the the purpose of carrying around the house at all times because despite having “carry” pistols, it’s annoying and uncomfortable enough for me to not want to.

My thoughts for at-home carry options are:
- KelTec P32
- Ruger LCP
- Bodyguard 2.0

I’m not very versed in tiny handguns so open to other suggestions or to hear your side of at-home carrying

Am I missing anything for joint and muscle inflammation / soreness?

I (32M) have been an athlete for my entire life and have destroyed my body in the process. Team sports year-round, extreme sports as hobbies, combat sports for a handful of years, many concussions, hard falls, and injuries throughout. After about 20 years of sports, I transitioned into bodybuilding and powerlifting. All of this came to an immediate end when I had a major kidney emergency that left me bedridden for roughly 6 months with multiple surgeries through my abdomen and back. I suffered significant muscle atrophy and the lifetime of physical damage to my joints, ligaments, muscles and spine started to show themselves. Multiple disk herniations, early-onset arthritis in my lower spine, degenerative disks, and an abdominal hernia all presented with my loss of muscle and bedrest. This happened about 3 years ago and I have been in constant pain ever since. It hurts to stand, sit, lay, walk, or basically anything that’s not floating in water. My joints are always inflamed and past injuries that I thought healed decades ago have come back. I can’t really exercise and have been glued to a heating pad. I’ve tried physical therapy but it didn’t really do much because this is an entire body issue. I’m desperate to get back to normal and have since started supplementing anything I can to reduce the inflammation and constant soreness / tightness without taking ibuprofen every 4 hours. Please let me know what your thoughts are on this supplement stack and if there is anything else I can add or try to alleviate my symptoms.

Any legitimate reason anyone would choose the Kel-Tec RFB over a IWI Tavor 7?

I’m not sure if I’m missing anything when comparing the two but the Kel-Tec seems to be slightly more expensive than the IWI. Given Kel-Tec is typically a budget option and IWI has a fantastic proven track record, I’m confused why anyone would get the RFB instead of the Tavor 7 unless I’m missing something

Correction: looks like there are some options for the Kel Tec that are marginally cheaper, but generally the same price between the two as of now

OTC options amid Adderall shortage?

Hoping some people on here have some first hand experience with alternative non-prescription options that behave similar to ADHD medication (e.g. DHMA, Eria Jarensis, Sabroxy, PEA, ALCAR, Citicoline, etc.).

I’m growing increasingly concerned with the shortages and restrictions around ADHD medications, as it is getting harder and harder to find stock to have my prescription filled. I recently lost my job due to mass layoffs and it is not a time where I can be taking a “med vacation.” I have been rationing my 15mg Adderall XR to stretch 2 months at a time but it’s still cutting it close each time I need a refill. It’s also unfortunately not an easy task to switch medications to other options like Vyvanse or even find out if a pharmacy has stock if they’re out of Adderall due to the sensitive nature of the drugs. I’m often times treated like an opioid addict “trying to get my next hit” when searching for solutions by doctors and pharmacies, so I’d rather play it safe and not involve them at all if I can. Any alternative drug/supp experience or unorthodox practices you all have figured out to get through this?

Appreciate the insight in advance.

Favorite complete AR10 options that don’t look identical to an AR15

This is kind of a silly way to describe it, but if I’m investing in a nice AR10, I don’t want it to be “just another” AR15 in my safe that just happens to be chambered in .308. Hope you guys catch my drift because it makes sense in my head. Examples being sig tread and DD5V3

A week into ownership of my first 4Runner

Just some of the first customizations. Air dam delete, window tint, emblem blackout, custom fit liners, and grill lights. Planning on beefing up the turbo and putting on a level kit to run slightly larger tires. Maybe a resonator delete too!

DIY solution to dip in driveway where water pools up?

My driveway slopes and dips towards my garage and it regularly will have roughly 4+ inches of water trapped up against the garage, causing damage. I cannot raise the area because it’s currently flush with my garage floor, would something like drilling holes through the asphalt help drain the water? Would that make it worse?

Are these gates adjustable?

This fence is about a year old and cemented into the ground. Over the lifetime of the fence the main gate has started to sag and drag / get caught on the ground beneath it. The door is now not plum and makes it difficult to lock and unlock the latch. Question is, are these adjustable?

I thought I had it in the bag

Really just a vent.

I have been interviewing for a high level creative position at top fashion brand since early April. Just last week they called to inform me that they wanted to fly me out to the headquarters to meet the rest of the team — this was after roughly 4 interviews and a mock campaign project (which is illegal where I live if unpaid, but I did it anyways because of how badly I wanted this specific role). I received nothing but praise throughout the entire process, even getting extra “meetings” scheduled because of how impressed the senior management was and they said they simply just “had to meet me.”

Today, I received an email with information about the trip, stating that this person was going to be in charge of scheduling all of my interviews while I’m visiting the headquarters. I responded professionally with asking for more information on what exactly to expect with these interviews, considering I’ve met the full chain of command for this role. I received a response essentially saying it would be easier to talk about the trip over the phone and we scheduled a quick call.

The call was not what I was expecting. They informed me that I didn’t get the job and that they wanted to let me know in advance so I wouldn’t be wasting my time flying out to meet everyone only to be met with a rejection.

What gives? What could have possibly happened between the company praising me, asking for flight preferences and this impromptu phone call? Why would the rejection come NOW? It just doesn’t make sense to me.

My most recent interview was with the top in command of this role and the entire call was essentially telling me that I was the only candidate that had actually done the mock campaign project well, that I was the only candidate who seemed to understand the brand and had what it took to move them forward. So much so, that my project was nearly identical to the new way they wanted to be presenting their creative. I was told I had the perfect background to take this role to the next level. To sign off the call, they said “I can’t wait for you to meet everyone else, it’s going to be great.”

It all just seems so fishy to me and has me seriously whiplashed. I didn’t receive any ounce of doubt from any point in the process that I wasn’t going to be the one moving forward.

Anyways, I sent a “final note” thanking the two senior management members for their time and asking if they could share any feedback on what I could improve.

Really at a loss and feeling completely defeated after such a lengthy process. Not really sure what to do at this point.

Stock 2026 4Runner TRD Off Road leveling question

If I put a 1.5” strut spacer on the front suspension, what size tire / rim could I comfortably run with no cutting or trimming? I’m assuming 34” but also curious about what I could run without adding any wheel spacers. Crash pad and mud flaps are fine to remove, assuming those would need to go

Also, I see a lot of people doing 1.5” on the front and .75” on the back. Is that true level or is that just preference?

Bull bars, are they bull or a waste of money?

Any vehicle I’ve modified has been owned but I’m currently leasing a 4Runner TRD Off Road and want some extra protection without removing / replacing the bumper since I don’t technically own it. From what I understand, these just bolt onto the undercarriage without needing to remove or cut anything that might be an issue with the dealership upon returning. I’ve always had steel bumpers with stingers and push bars but that’s obviously not a realistic option in this situation. So, are bull bars worth it in terms of extra protection or is it just a flimsy piece of steel that will cave if I bump literally anything?

Lighting ideas for room with no switch and difficult to access outlets

We recently had cabinets built into our closed patio and didn’t consider how dark the room would be at night. Prior to install, we had very bright dust to dawn activated “night lights” in the outlets that lit the room plenty. The switch for the lights are inside the house and cannot be accessed from the room itself, meaning that when we come home and enter this room, it’s very dark. There are 2 outlets in the room that unfortunately were covered by the cabinets. I want something automatic that turns on at night like the nightlights but unsure about options as I’m not really seeing any dusk to dawn strip lights that I could put on top of the cabinets and run the cable behind them into the outlet. Additionally, it seems like most dusk to dawn adaptors are for near the plug, which would always be dark because it’s inside the closed cabinet. Any ideas?
