Leasing question

I have a 3 year lease that is ending in about a year. I would like to extend the lease by a year or 2, ideally at a lower monthly payment. I tried their chat line but useless script-readers. Does anyone know if this is possible? Because of the glut of EV leases now and only getting worse, I though dealers/leasing depts would be interested in this rather than getting them back and wholsaling/auctioning them.

SPID questions

Hi, I have been recognized by the court and have received my Estratto di Nascita (with QR code) from the comune. Also have my CF. No AIRE or passport yet but have applied. I tried to get an SPID from Namirial but they will only accept an Italian passport for proof of identity. Will any of the other SPID providers allow alternate ID?

Second question, if an Italian citizen I know already has SPID and CIE access, can they look at anyone elses information, or only their own? Thanks!

T-Mobile service in Azores?

Hi, We have T-Mobile service and while it's great for international travel in many countries (where the have negotiated agreements with local carriers), it's not everywhere. Has anyone got experience with this? We can get an eSIM if there's no coverage but it's a waste if there is.

Trains between Porto and Lisbon

Hi, We're visiting Porto and Lisbon this summer and want to take the train between the cities. We're staying in city center and I'm seeing conflicting advice. The CP web site allows me to book from Sao Bento to Rossio but guides say intercity trains don't go to those stations (but you get free transfer to local train). Which is correct? What's the best plan (we have luggage) to train station transfer would be tiresome; prefer taxi or Uber in that case)

AIRE/Passport question - US consulates

Does anyone know if AIRE registration needs to be complete before a passport appointment at US consulates? Or does the AIRE application only need to be filed and in process? Is this consulate-specific or is there a uniform position? Some consulates are backlogged on AIRE.

End of EV lease coming

I'm coming up on the end of my 3 year Nissan leaf lease. The price in the lease agreement they will sell it to me is far above what I can buy the same one used. I took good care of it and it's low mileage and I know the history. Can I just turn it in and then try to buy it from them as a separate arms -length transaction? Would they do this if I ask, or refuse? In general do dealers keep their turned in leased cars to sell or send them off somewhere?

Help with post-recognition process

Hi all, I was recognized (ATQ) last month and today I received my Estratto with the digital signature (QR code). When I apply for my passport and CIE at the Boston consulate, do I need an "original" paper copy of the estratto or is the digitally signed copy enough? Also, I applied for AIRE via Fast-It account after recognition but before my Comune had registered me. How long should it take for AIRE to be approved? And do I even need a CIE, or just passport (they are separate appointments at Boston Consulate)?

Help me debug solar hot water problem

House built in 2017, solar hot water panel on roof, and small solar PV panel next to it. PV runs the circulator pump when the sun is up. Worked great for years, and now it runs for an hour or so in the morning and then stops. Pump runs fine with 12VDC power supply (hence not an emergency) that I now turn on/off morning and evening. I had maint guy check the PV panel for dirt or damage (none) and replaced the connection in the attic from the built-in PV panel cable to the longer cable to the utility room. OCV is 18VDC in the utility room even when it won't run the pump. Stumped. Thoughts?

Yellowstone/Grand Tetons NP trip review

Yellowstone and Grand Teton review

Hi all,

This is not intended to be a rant, it is intended to provide info to others that may be planning a visit. These are just my experiences. YMMV.

Just visited YSNP and GTNP in early June. Flew into Jackson, overnight there, then to Canyon, Mammoth, YS Lake and Signal Lodge in GT.

Some items to note:

We have T-Mobile. It hardly worked anywhere. And yes, that's what the coverage map says.

Food in Jackson was great; shoutout to Abulelas. Price for breakfast at Bunnery was outrageous. Recommend getting a cheap cooler and stocking up on food and beverages at Albertson's in Jackson.

Food in Canyon was meh. Mammoth was better, and you can drive to Gardiner. YS Lake was meh except for the nice dining room, and food was great at Signal.

Canyon had VERY slow (1M) WiFi. Yellowstone Lake Hotel had NO WIFI in the hotel ("historic building" my a*$) so you have to drive to the Lodge (1 minute, but still...). Mammoth and Signal had good WiFi.

Hotels had in-room mini-fridge except Yellowstone Hotel but they had an ice maker to keep the cooler charged.

Early June there was not much traffic and weather was nice except for snow 1 day, which shut down some roads. Saw lots of bison, elk, brown and black bears. Shoutout to "Hollywood" at Signal.

Rangers were extremely nice and helpful. Their guided walks and lectures were excellent. Some good films at the Visitor Centers as well as displays. Float trips and horseback riding were good - book in advance or take what's left.

Grand Prismatic, Old Faithful, Lamar Valley, Tetons all worth seeing.

Ranger walks/tours in Yellowstone?

Hi, we'll be in Yellowstone next week and I don't see any free ranger-led walks/tours on the NPS app. Are they being offered now? They were great last year at Grand Canyon and Bryce NPs and we were looking forward to them in Yellowstone and GTNP.

What to do with stamp collection?

Hi stamp collectors. Back in the '70s, I collected stamps. Fell away from it in college and never resumed. Have a large 3-ring binder of stamps as well as 4 more books. Nobody in my family is interested in this. I'd like to give/donate this to someone/organization who would want it. Thoughts? Do teens today collect stamps? Could post to neighborhood lists if anyone has kids/grandkids interested. Would Senior Centers have any use? Any charities that would be interested? Thanks!

My wife and I have been receiving mail addressed to 2 people (same last name) we have never heard of. Commercial mail, Not first class mail. Put some back in mailbox marked "addressee unknown" but it has continued (several months). Is this a scam of some kind we should be concerned about? Just an error maybe? Take to post office to discuss or ignore? Thanks!
