Who in CC can be trusted with my eyebrows?

I haven't had my brows waxed in the years since I moved here because I am too distrustful to just go to a random place and roll the dice. I was considering maybe trying Sephora? But Chestnut St is closed for renovation.

Please help me. They're trying to merge with my hairline. I'm emotionally prepared to be vulnerable again.

Why are daily expedition rewards so low?

I'd love to do them like a daily puzzle -- especially as a break after, say, failing a gold seal run by only five seconds, which I'm definitely not crashing out about right now -- but the "rewards" are on par with failing a regular level, even though their conditions seem to be relatively challenging. I have tried them once or twice but it feels like a waste of time. Anyone know why the daily expeditions are set up this way?

My first base!

It took some time to get the hang of things, but I'm officially hooked! I need the shady license to make my ship bigger, right?

Northeast WLGs

I've listened to the whole WLG catalog so perhaps I am forgetting, but have we gotten any WLG episodes that "take place" in the NE? I've been reflecting on this since I noticed that I often incorrectly think of WLG organizations and groups and individuals as flourishing *elsewhere*, meaning predominantly in the Midwest and South. I'm not familiar with local stories or histories on the same scale and depth as what Molly covers in WLG episodes, but those stories certainly must exist (and my ignorance of them is obviously not pure coincidence).

American white supremacy has strong ties to Southern history, obviously, but I grew up around white suburban NE racism where all my great aunts and uncles treat the city of Philadelphia as an apocalyptic wasteland where you can be stabbed for making eye contact with a Black person, but swear they're *totally* not prejudiced.

I feel like, at least in my own public school education in PA, the curriculum diverted attention away from the North's own racist history by emphasizing the North was a "safe" place for enslaved people to escape to. We were the good guys, we won, the South did Jim Crow things until they weren't allowed to anymore, end of story, not taking any further questions. And modern racism, especially when blatant enough to rise to WLG level, is the domain of the South, except for a few bad apples up here. None of which is true.

So what are northeastern neo-nazis up to? Do they function differently from Southern or Midwestern WLGs? What about PNW WLGs? Are their histories, compared to Southern WLGs, branches of the same tree? Do they rhyme? Or are they mostly parallel with key intersection points? Is rural/urban/suburban a more useful distinction?

My first work bento in like a year

My work bestie who I usually order takeout lunch with left the company last Friday. :( So, anticipating a bittersweet lunch alone tomorrow, I made myself this crab salad bento to have something pleasant to look forward to! I'd like to add avocado but ours aren't ripe yet.

Omw to try and save the park parakeet

I have a birdie backpack, nutriberries, millet in the hopes it recognizes the treat, food pellets to attract birbs, a kitchen towel for retrieval. Gonna play budgie calls on my phone. I'll be the lunatic bird lady in a black dress if you want to come canvas the area.

Update: I've searched around Logan, Sister Cities, and Aviator and cannot locate our exotic friend. It's well past noon now, so little buddy is likely hiding/resting. I can't come back out at twilight today and I work during the week, but if there is another sighting, I will make time! Sorry, folks. Wish I had a happier update.

East Texas and Black/White Monday

I used to live in the town of Greenville, Texas, 40 mins east of Dallas, and Molly's tangent this week on White/Black Monday reminded me of the sign that hung in town until the 1960s. I personally spoke with residents who, to this day, defend the sign as not racist, because whitest just means nicest and kindest and best and it's best not to think about that too hard, of course. Greenville is also infamous for the 1908 lynching of Ted Smith. You can read more about it here: https://easttexashistory.org/items/show/300

Philly Zoo Ale Fest?

It is supposed to thunderstorm tomorrow, and the Zoo has responded to FB comments that the event is rain or shine so we'll just hide inside if there are any shelter in place warnings. However, the Zoo is closed today due to air quality, and it is possible that air quality will not improve tomorrow -- so what then?

I talked friends into getting tickets, which were $85 a pop, so if this gets cancelled due to air quality with no refunds, I'm going to be pretty upset.

I'm so thankful these two get along!

Tuesday, the parakeet, was an unexpected rescue. When she first met Pepper (the green cheek), it was challenging because they did not have any sounds in common. But they both learned the kiss noise from me, then used it with each other to communicate friendship!! 🥰

Every morning, the first thing they do is swap cages and eat from each other's bowls. So thankful for these silly goobers.

Chances Regional Rail just melts tomorrow/Thursday?

There are already delays due to mechanical failure when it is 95 degrees out. Not SEPTA's fault, but I'm anxious that I'll take the train to work in the morning and by the afternoon, it'll all be shut down due to electrical or mechanical failure. Not sure if that's a legitimate reason to ask to WFH or not.

Extreme heat recently melted a tramway track in Leipzig, Germany at 106F, and my phone keeps reminding me it's going to "feel like" 110 with humidity... 😬

A dent bigger than my thumb. Safe to eat?

It doesn't look like the seal is compromised but it is dented pretty significantly. Safe to eat? This is the one I was most looking forward to! It was recommended to me on here after Jose Gourmet disappointed me. Featuring bonus pics of my first ever haul from RTG!

Where is our Mamdani?

I've lived in Philadelphia for going on three years, but I am not clued in to local politics. How do I become clued in? When is Parker up for reelection? And do we have any prospective candidates or council members or whoever with stances and vibe similar to Mamdani? If so, I'd like to support them. Philadelphia deserves similar initiatives and that infectious joy.

They were just okay.

I've been looking forward to these for like a month (that's how long they took to get here), literally dreaming of them all day at work. They were good but not worth $13. Kind of disappointed. I fell prey to a YouTube video that made them look amazing so that's on me.

Summer birdie chop ready to go into the freezer!

This was an entire pasta pot of food and should last 4 months, so I'm relieved they like it! Contains cooked quinoa, cooked brown rice, cooked navy beans, canned chickpeas, spinach, beet greens, beets, cauliflower, green beans, radishes, butternut squash, and zucchini. Served with different spices each day plus, of course, pelleted food. Into the freezer they go!

How do you think superheavy armor will work?

slenderman, chestplate eyeholes, fetal position, or piggyback ride?

Edit: I'm an idiot, it's not mech-sized and the apron confused me
