CR 6 (XP 2,300; PB +3)

Traits

Prismatic Antimagic Reflection. The Euhedral has advantage on saving throws against spells, and any creature making a spell attack against the Euhedral has disadvantage on the attack roll. If the Euhedral succeeds on its saving throw against a spell or a spell attack misses it, an additional effect might occur, as determined by rolling a d6:

1–2. If the spell affects an area or has multiple targets, it fails and has no effect. If the spell targets only the Euhedral, it has no effect on the Euhedral and is reflected back at the caster, using the spell slot level, spell save DC, attack bonus, and spellcasting ability of the caster.

3–4. No additional effect.

5–6. The Euhedral's crystals converts some of the spell’s energy into a burst of destructive force. Each creature within 30 feet of the Euhedral must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw, taking 4 (1d8) force damage per level of the spell on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Piezoelectric Discharge. Whenever a creature within 5 feet of the Euhedral hits it with a Melee attack, the attacker takes 4 (1d8) lightning damage and must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target loses its Reaction and its Speed is halved until the end of its next turn.

Actions

Multiattack. The Euhedral makes two Resonance Strike attacks or two Prismatic Shard attacks, and Harmonic Blast (if available).

Resonance Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 3) slashing damage plus 4 (1d8) lightning damage.

Prismatic Shard. Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 60/120 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 3) piercing damage plus 4 (1d8) lightning damage.

Harmonic Blast  (Recharge 5–6). The Euhedral emits a high-frequency, resonant sonic wave in a 30-foot Cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 27 (6d8) thunder damage and is pushed 10 feet away. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and isn't pushed. Nonmagical crystalline structures, glass, and stone objects in the area automatically take maximum damage.

Bonus Actions

Prismatic Refraction. The Euhedral refracts ambient light across its faceted body. Each creature of the Euhedral's choice within 20 feet that can see it must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or gain the Blinded condition until the start of the Euhedral's next turn. A target can avert its eyes to automatically succeed on the save, but attacks against the Euhedral before the start of the target's next turn are made with Disadvantage.

Running Empire of Ghouls before Deadfall

Lots of Spoilers of Empire of the Ghouls (and some for Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall), bail now if you plan on playing in either:

I'm planning on running Arcana Unleashed Deadfall, which starts at level 11, but want to start at lower level (1~3). I was thinking of Empire of the Ghouls, and converting it to Faerun since that would be easier for me rather than trying to convert Deadfall to Midgard.

Obviously in this changing, it would replace King Lucan with Szass Tam, and was thinking of using Mulhorand instead of Krakovar, the next heir to the throne of the god-king of Amon-Re who was captured instead of Avgost, and then playing up the gods aspect more, with the finale being Radomir trying to summon an avatar of Vardesain (or maybe Doresain, haven't decided) to actually consume Amon-Re and his piece of Divinity. Then, after completing that task and hopefully splitting the alliance between Nicoforus (I am definitely porting all the Ghouls and their underground locations underchanged) and Tam, the heroes go on to try to overthrow Tam in Deadfall thus enabling a quick rebellion and freedom in Mulhorand.

I've picked up bits of FR lore from playing a bunch in the setting since the launch of 5e (I've played since 2000, but never tried FR before that), but know basically nothing about Midgard. Does this sound reasonable to anyone here who happens to know the lore of both?

3PP requests

Not really sure if there is a better place to put these, but! As a DM, the thing I want more of in DDB is monster books and modules. In that spirit, can we please get the Monster Manual Expanded?

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/567090/monster-manual-expanded-5-5e

Also, I'd love the Monsters of Faerun book cowritten by Ed Greenwood. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/569781/forgotten-realms-monsters-of-faerun?src=also_purchased

And for adventures I would *love* to have ported over from the DMsGuild, #1 has to be the whole Doomed Forgotten Realms saga. Maybe combine the original Vecna adventure trilogy with the Gazetteer's subclasses and whatnot: https://www.dmsguild.com/en/product/398215/doomed-forgotten-realms-sword-coast-gazetteer

https://www.dmsguild.com/en/product/385544/rise-of-vecna

Then, outside the DMG I love Goodman Game's 5E products. The Dungeon Denizens line would be fantastic:

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/511499/5e-dungeon-denizens

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/575402/5e-dungeon-denizens-2

They have a *ton* of great adventures; I'd especially love to see Against the Thieves Guild, Sailors on the Starless Sea, Dark Tower, and Caverns of Thracia on DDB, but they have a lot of 5E content and while I haven't read it all, what I have read has yet to reveal a dud:

Thanks!

Are any of the 2025 organized play modules still available online? I'd like to start running some DCC organized play or other modules at my FLGS, but right now I see only one module for the current campaign online.

Planescape Megagame

Kind of an odd idea, I know, but I have an idea and I'm curious what others think. The Diplomacy boardgame discussion got me thinking of the idea of a "meta-game" or maybe just "meta-plot" level for a shared campaign. Sort of living a "living" campaign in that elements are shared between different tables, but instead of it being the same modules different players can play in, it would be the same story arch and lots of different parties reacting to it.

Perhaps the best way to explain is with the first example that came to me. Common estimates put the population of Sigil at about a quarter million people. Imagine, one day, somewhere in the endless primes, Somewhere a world experienced a massive, world shaking danger... and the forces of good lost. The Demonweb Pits expanded by another devoured world, the far realm ate everyone's brains; whatever. But before they did, the heroes of the world were able to at least evacuate a few remnants of their world to Sigil: Three million people.

I picked that number because it's slightly below what estimates I could find for the absolute maximum number of people that could fit in Sigil square mileage, if it had the same population density as the Kowloon Walled City, and could be fed by 11 full sized sailing ships a day arriving via The Ditch.

But just imagine the adventures that could be gone on, trying to source all the new food and water the city would need imported. Suddenly all the places that *could* be the source for a boat full of food that could make its way up the Bridge that Spans Worlds, need to searched and shopped dry. So that's a ton of exploration. The Rock of Bral connects to the Bridge, so now you've can also introduce a ton of astral exploration and secondary routes. All of this activity becomes targets for Githyanki (and other!) pirates and need protecting. Back in Sigil, they need people trying to organize the dockworkers (and resist corruption skimming needed relief). You need to deal with a million points of friction as the newcomers try to find a place to sleep, the factions fight over the biggest recruit pool in millennia, and the old cutters try to peel them for all they're worth.

Then you have the process of finding a long term home for them. What kingdoms, prime or planar, would take them in? Or could you find unclaimed space to build new realms together?

These are all problems that a hundred (or, to be realistically hopeful, a dozen) different tables could all try tackling at once, and never run out of things to do. The DMs of the tables in the "Megagame" would have a discord or post thread, and just update each other every month or so on what's going on. "Hey my table has convinced the Planar Trade Consortium to finance the purchase of fifty boats full of food; they're now hiring anyone who wants to be the privateers trying to make a profit off finding, buying, and getting one of those back to Sigil safely can, or if no one wants to we can just roll to see how many the Githyanki pick off and if enough ships make it through to prevent a famine. Then next month we post missions to guard the ships."

Every month or so, we look at overall progress, if more tables had successes or failures, what interesting complications popped up, and decide how to move the event forward.

What do people think, neat, total pipe dream, both?

Repeated actions with spells that cause saving throws

So I'm not running the full DC20 Experience yet, but I wanted to steal the way actions work immediately for my 5e game. One question I had was, if repeatedly attacking causes disadvantage on latter attacks, does casting spells that cause a save get around that, or does it grant adv on the save or something else? Thanks!

Planescape Artists Among Us?

I'm pretty happy with how writing up my players adventures across Arcadia into a playable format for others is going, and I'm looking into commissioning some covers and possibly maps (both battle map scale and larger, reference scale). I'm curious if we have anyone on the subreddit here who'd be interested in participating. I will find an actual, non-insulting payment and royalties, but this would be my first project so scale expectations accordingly.

New homebrew Adventure set in Arcadia

My party just did the ending of Fires of Dis and traveled to Arcadia with the gate town of Fortitude  (Yes "with," not "from," it's a great ending); now they're off to explore what happened to Nemausus as part of the Discovery adventure from Planes of Law. Here's what I wrote up for part one of their adventure, their encounter with an Acolyte of the Lightning King who first suspects, then requests aid from, the party. I'd love feedback

Cranium Rat colony personalities

My party have taken to the expediency of keeping a small colony of Cranium Rats in their Walking Castle. They hand out Squeakers to NPCs they meet as they travel around the Outlands, so that they can have a good form of communication, Outlands-wide.

Personally I love this and plan on developing the colony hive mind as it slowly grows and achieves sentience; if you have any thoughts suggestions on developing this NPC, I'd be grateful. I especially like the idea of playing up how the colony mild would start immature (Child-like), with only a few dozen rats serving as it's grey matter, and it would slowly mature as the rat population grows. What sort of encounters could the players have that would demonstrate this process? How can we give the PCs opportunities to influence it's development while it's young, either for good or ill?

For reference, this Walking Castle is the one from Turn of Fortune's Wheel. Aside from the party, it has Zaythir, the Githzerai monk from ToFW living in it, and after rescuing Garmundi from "Doors to the Unknown" (basically, he's a barmy Sigil street preacher dwarf of Aoskar who's now wanted by the Athar and Harmonium) he was moved to the Castle to keep him safe.

Maps VTT suggestion

One feature that VTTs should theoretically be able to offer that makes them superior to a physical table would be smooth way to handle the problem of "Oh crap the fight is heading off the edge of the map." We (as DM) should be able to click on the edge and click some buttons to add extra rows or columns. They wouldn't have any map or art on them (maybe just give the DM an option to pick a background color from some basic presets, over a grid), but it would still be a massive improvement.

The Great Modron March Followers

In the adventure the Great Modron March, there's a couple paragraphs on the various non-modrons who begin following the March as it goes around the great wheel. I've reproduced them at the end of this post, but some are joining to try to turn Modrons rogue, or learn about them and the march, some just looking for something fun to do, and others still following the first two groups selling them supplies. I'd love to have some sort "random" encounters with the March Followers, if anyone has any suggestions? Mainly thinking about while the march is in the Outlands, and the PCs have a walking castle they are following along in, fyi. Here a few ideas I had so far:

  1. A Xaositect "prog Troubadour troupe" that plays music that sounds a bit like a mix of acid folk and King Crimson to "awaken" the modrons.

  2. A down-on-his-luck wizard, following along and casting Magic Mansion at exorbitant rates for those sick of roughing it.

  3. A Sensate painter, who is practicing by painting the modrons themselves.

  4. A Wagon manned by the Heralds of Dust collecting bodies from followers who die along the march. Seen spending a lot of time suspiciously close to...

  5. Toddy's Sweet Meatpies, selling fresh meat pies daily despite no obvious source of ingredients.

---------------------------------

"Obviously, something as momentous as the Modron March - especially an unexpected one such as this - draws a lot of attention. As the March travels the Great Ring, folks begin to follow it. Some see it as a pilgrimage to learn a great truth, and some see it as a big moving party. Others trail the March attempting to make a name for themselves by mere association.

Plenty of berks, particularly Xaositects, accompany the March and try to make the modrons turn rogue. They assault the modrons with diatribes on individuality, they attempt to overload their senses (they call it "showing them the beauty of chaos”), and they reason with the automatons and try to trip them up with logic. None of these efforts ever work. Whatever the true dark regarding rogue modrons, one thing definitely seems to be true: No one can make a modron go rogue.

’Course, as the March continues, even more folks follow along - making a little jink by providing the original followers with food and supplies, joining in the “party,” or just coming along because they have nothing better to do."

The Map Browser in the Maps VTT went from running slowly and laggy on my Alienware gaming PC to now running smoothly on my "emails and spreadsheets" laptop. Massive improvement to performance, and change in layout (two columns!) and a search feature and huge improvements too. Really nicely done!
