New Editing Website! Looking for feedback!

I'm pretty amped about the design recalling old VHS tapes. But will it get me work?

I know it's suggested in this business to find your lane and stick to it -- i.e. music videos only, or vertical/social only, or trailers only. Does everyone agree this is a hard and fast rule? Or is there benefit to showing adaptability?

Also, a lot of this work is self-produced. Is that a big red flag?

Thanks for having a look!

SILENT FILM MAKERS

SILENT FILM MAKERS!

Hey film friends! The Brooklyn Silent Film Fest is accepting entries for our Fall 2026 program!

In our fest we pair your silent film with an indie band / musician / producer to compose an original score which they perform live during the screening.

Films need to be your work. Newish. 1 min to 20 min.

Please help spread the word as we are a grassroots organization with limited funding and resources.

IG: BrooklynSilentFilmFest

Hope to see you there!

Navitas 2000% return on a call

I’m new to options trading but generally buy ITM leap calls on nascent tech. I’ve gotten this type of return a couple times with NVTS and yet I haven’t had the guts to buy more than a couple calls at a time. So many “if onlys.”

I guess I’m just dropping this to remind yall that a little research and a macro view can lead to real returns without Yoloing a 0DTE.

I sold two similar calls at the top a few months ago and took good profits but this one I’m gonna let run through November at least and maybe will try to roll it if there’s another dip as I think this company is going to explode in 27/28.

GaN tech is gonna change the semiconductor game.

I bought this call for $92. Rock rock on.

“Silicon Valley’s case against the Wealth Tax” dumb flaw

I this episode, Jason Calacanis (and to some extent Bradley Tusk) several times build a flawed case that a wealth tax “puts a target on the backs of the wealthy.” They support this with allusions to the Mangione case.

Let me say that Mangione didn’t do what he did just because Brian Thompson was wealthy—he did it because the CEO of UnitedHealthcare got wealthy at the cost of the good of his customers. Mangione was making a statement about the iniquity of the health insurance industry where people are occluded from treatments and medicine that they need because it comes at the cost of board members’ coffers.

The public rancor with the wealth gap has less to do with the gap and more to do with how Capitalism puts a company’s bottom line above the good of the people.

Let rich people be rich. Let poor people find a way to get rich. American is about people dreaming and working to elevate their financial status and create generational wealth.

What makes a regular hard working American pick up a weapon and do something like Mangione (vilify and target the rich) is when we find out that Johnson & Johnson knew it was putting cancer agents on children and did nothing, when we find out that a service we pay into that is supposed to protect us is actually doing everything in its legal power not to provide the service, when we find out that someone is KNOWINGLY getting rich off of our and our children’s suffering AND GETTING AWAY WITH IT.

When the Justice system fails to protect the people in order to protect the corporations (Citizens United)— this seeds a desperation that is dangerous to society as a whole.

Black Jazz pickup!

Henry Franklin sure knows how to set a mood. Copped this at a local shop for $18. Been on repeat ever since. I know there are some purists who wince at Black Jazz on anything but black vinyl, but I like the color editions. Unless I can find an OG of course!

Were you part of the Tribe or part of the Clan?

And for those of us who eventually loved both, which was your first?

Gave my four year old his first comic

FCBD brought us to the local haunts and I helped him pick a few titles— Avengers, Spidey, etc.

And I was so excited. And so was he.

So he took them out of the plastic. And I held my breath. And he bent the spine. And I silently gasped.

And then we read them together. And I avoided adult themes as best I could—aside from scarlet witch’s unavoidable lingerie supersuit.

And now the cover has been removed. And we’re both still excited To flip through the pages And the old toy ads

So I threw the plastic away. It was a dollar comic anyway. And reading them with him is priceless.
