One week after receiving a New York Times review, Gaurav Bathla, the head chef of New York’s very-difficult-to-get-into Ambassadors Clubhouse, is leaving the restaurant to move to Passerine, where he’ll overhaul the menu.
Myo Lin Thway’s Burmese Bites now has a brick-and-mortar in Astoria. This week’s soft opening menu includes keema palata (the crispy flatbird stuffed with spiced ground chicken), baby goat curry, and shaved ice for dessert.

Jon Neidich’s Golden Age Hospitality is snapping up more leases: There was Le Dive West Village, and a new Golden Age concept coming soon to 490 LaGuardia Place (the old Morgenstern’s). Now, Le Wine is opening (135 Division St.), according to a liquor license application.
Cafe Orlin, a staple of the East Village, closed in 2017. Following tenants never stuck. Now, a new team is at the helm of 41 St. Mark’s Place with the opening of Anderson, from Aidan O’Neal (Le Crocodile, Chez Ma Tante), Jeffrey Robbins (Wei’s), and George Riddle (Chez Ma Tante, Leon’s).
Gabriel Borges, former CDC at Chez Ma Tante, is opening his own Greenpoint restaurant. 148 Noble Street is both the name and the address, where he’ll be joined by partner Eric Carney, an alum of Five Leaves.
