How problematic are the cracks in this slab that’s less than a week since poured?
Is it worth cutting the back of cabinets to be flush with the wall?
Should I custom cut the pieces to be flush with the wall? Or is there an easier way to cover this? Maybe with a piece of trim?
Is this piece too warped to use?
I am building kitchen cabinets. It’s about 82 inches long and there will be three compartments. So I have four pieces of economy birch plywood that I plan to join together with four stretchers between each. Will the stretchers or cabinet face straighten this out? Does it matter in the long run if it’s a little bowed?
Are porches on monolithic slabs supposed to be framed in separate or as a perimeter?
This is what our current foundation guy did for us. Two sides will have porches and one side will have a pad for a utility closet on the backside of the house. Should these have been framed in? We also asked for eps board to be put down for insulation. At which layer should that be put down?
Thoughts on plug-in “mini split”?
Wondering if this is all it’s hyped up to be?
Does a monolithic slab for a home in Richmond, VA need insulation under the slab?
By code, we only need two inches of foam board around the perimeter. A family member in construction said he wouldn’t build a slab with less than four inches of insulation under the slab. He lives in northern Pennsylvania on the border with New York though, so I am wondering if it would be a waste of money, labor, and materials for us to put 4 inches of insulation under the slab. Might 2 inches be good enough? Or is it recommended at all where we are?
Exposed roots and suckers at base question
Two questions about care for this apple tree: 1) should we always prune the suckers away? (Because aren’t they from the root stalk of the apple variety they are grafted onto?)
2) what to do about exposed roots without volcano mulching the base? Is it okay if some of the roots are exposed?
VAC mode the best mode on a water heater? Thoughts on this video—->
Saw this this morning and it seems to make sense but I don’t know much about water heaters. Is VAC mode best? Can this metal piece at the center be replaced easily? Should I drain my water heater once a year?
Tipped over Rippa r15 not starting
I was on uneven ground and tipped over. It’s back up now. When it was on its side, it was leaking what looked like oil. It’s prestarting but not starting up. I know I probably need to refill some fluids and/or oils. Is there anything else I should look for or do after a tip over?
Should we remove possible lead, asbestos, and old house materials or bury them?
This is under an old house we demoed. We will fill it in with dirt (from digging beside it for the new house’s foundation), bricks, and cinder blocks. Should we try to remove all of the drywall, flooring, walls with paint, etc. from here before we fill it in? Our well is about 10-15 feet away. That’s the main concern. The other is a garden bed that’s also about 10-15 feet away. Once this is filled in, we will build a greenhouse on most of it. Just wondering if it’s worth picking all these small bits out of here.
Rippa r15 thumb will not move
The bucket and everything else still moves. When I hit the pedal for the thumb, it moved slightly, like it wants to move, but doesn’t close. How can I troubleshoot this?
What should I expect to get from a land survey as a customer?
My fiancee and I got a land survey for our building permit for a new home in our county. We were emailed one page (BPP) that shows the property lines and mentions the tearing down of the old house, building the new, etc. We were thinking after six weeks, we would get more than one page emailed to us. Is this the standard land survey?
The treads slid off the tracks. I am trying to loosen the tread to put it back on the tracks. When I got the nut loose, I was cranking it with this adjustable wrench that only rotates one way in this position. Now it is so far that I cannot remove it from the nut. It’s wedged against the side. Is there anything I can do to remove this now?
Making these kitchen cabinets over a wheel-well in a tiny house. Do the middle two pieces ply need to be doubled up? Fastened with 1 1/4” cabinet screws and then put two stretchers between each? Also, do I need a toe-kick? I am hoping to maximize the storage space and would like to use the space from the floor all the way up to the top of the cabinets. I lean towards function over form. Just wondering if any of this will impede adding cabinet doors. Any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated!
These are 3/4 birch ply. I’m building kitchen cabinets. I don’t need them to be perfect but I don’t want to make it hard to have drawers, cabinets, or something else be a big issue later. I’ve tried leaving these clamped with eight clamps this weekend outside in the humidity and that didn’t make them straight. Will fastening them make them straight? Does it matter?
I see it's out. I looked on Prime and PBS. Anyone know where to watch it?
