Did anyone’s baby have a wheat allergy or sensitivity?

She kept throwing up so I cut dairy and soy. Didn’t do anything. I cut wheat and it got dramatically better - not perfect but went from twice a day throwing up to every 3ish days. I decided to phase it back in because I did all this research and it says wheat allergies or gluten allergies are super rare. I thought maybe she’s just growing out of it. But then Friday night was my first time eating it again and she threw up BIG vomits (almost 4oz - we have barf bags with measurements) on Saturday, Sunday, and today. So it seems like that’s the culprit. Anyone else have this intolerance with their baby? She’s 3.5 months

Jet lag

I’m flying a 12-hour flight with a 8-hour time difference when my baby will be almost 5 months old. I’m worried about the flight itself, but also about jet lag. Is she going to be up all night there 😬 There’s no safe baby melatonin we can give right? That’s how we fix jet lag for us adults but I have no idea what to do for her and I think it’s going to be rough

3 month old consistently rolls back-to-stomach but can’t roll back

My daughter isn’t even 3 months yet- will be Aug 5– and she can roll consistently from back to stomach. She usually rolls to sleep on her side, but sometimes goes all the over. But she can’t roll back from stomach to back. It’s because she hasn’t discovered she can use her arms yet. When she’s on her stomach her arms just flail like she’s swimming. We try to put her arms propped under her but when we’re not holding them there she has them flailing again. How do we teach her so she can roll both ways?

Opening a parts shop?

My husband and I want to open a warehouse selling parts — not doors yet (springs, rollers, hinges, etc) in West Palm Beach, Florida. Any idea how to test if people would be interested in buying from us? Or to get the word out? I don’t want to throw thousands into this unless I know we have some demand

Can I be less on top of pumping if I have an oversupply?

Since I make way more than she eats (if I pump for a session for 10 min I make about 7oz of milk and she usually drinks 2-3oz), can I be a little relaxed with missing a session? Since a small dip in my supply won’t be a big deal. She’s 3 months old. I usually nurse, but when she has a bottle and I need to leave the house, that’s when every so often I would like to skip pumping.

4.5 Hour Drive with 3-month old

I have to go on a 4.5 hour drive next week with my three month old and I’m worried! First, should I do mandatory stops? If so, after how long and how long should I stop for to get her out of the car seat? Or just let her wait it out as long as possible? She hates the car. She usually doesn’t sleep until 10:30/11pm so waiting until bedtime might also not work since it’s so late. Tips?

Baby doesn’t wake up hungry

My three month old seems to wake up not hungry. She nurses twice overnight minimum (sometimes 3-4 times). Even if it’s been 3 or 4 hours (she usually eats every 2 hours during the day) should I just wait until she shows hunger cues?

3MO gagging trying to get initial latch before any milk comes out

My 12 week old will sometimes go to nurse and right away pop off the nipple gagging. I’ll wait a second and try to put her back and some times it happens 3 or 4 times before she can latch and start eating.

She’s definitely hungry because sometimes it’s the 1st feed of the morning and after she comes off, she will go right to aggressively eating her hand.

3 month old witching hour? Overtired maybe?

My 12 week old always crazy cries around 8pm. We end up taking her on a walk outside holding her and she usually falls asleep. She used to go to bed around ten. Is it possible her bedtime is getting earlier? I used to bathe her at 8:30/9 but maybe I should switch to 7/7:30. Or is it just witching hour? Is that a thing at 3 months?

Good Update: The Reflux / Vomit Journey is Looking Up!

If you’ve seen my previous posts, I’ve had SO many issues with my 12-week old projectile vomiting, dropping weight percentiles, being told to switch to formula, GI visits, meds, etc. I decided to do a positive post to update you all and maybe help others struggling.

We ended up not giving the meds and tried the following for a few days:

  1. 2-3 formula bottles (total of 3-5oz) per day and then phased them out back to all breastmilk. This helped in case she was sensitive to what I was eating
  2. Made sure to wait at least 1.5 hours — aiming for 2 hours— between feeds. She needed more time to digest. I was trying to stick her on the boob at much as possible and it was too much for her
  3. Total elimination diet - gluten, dairy, soy, eggs. Planning to add them back in one by one. I’m eating a lot of lentil soup and potatoes right now 😂

She’s gone her longest stretch without vomiting and seems much happier.

Calprotectin- Stop Elimination Diet if low enough?

My 12 week old only eats very small amounts at a time and has been projectile vomiting. They had her do a stool test and the Calprotectin level was 139. Does that mean she probably does not have severe intolerances? I am on a very strict elimination diet so does that mean I can probably stop? Did anyone else have this and what did it end up being? My next appointment to go over the results isn’t for another two weeks so I’m hoping to get some input here before I go back to the doctor. Thanks!!

Painful Sex 3months Postpartum

I’m 12 weeks out from birth and I still can’t have sex. I had a tear on the left side (had third degree tearing in general) and it hurts so bad that no penetration can happen. Specifically on that side targeted sharp pain when we try. I’m also not getting wet at all (which i heard is common with breastfeeding), but I tried lube and it still is too painful. I expected 6 weeks not over 3 months!! Anyone else have this? Did the OBGYN do anything to help? Or just give it more time?

Gag reflex overactive

My 12 week old has a really overactive gag reflex. Lactation consultant said high pallet and it’s a very strong reflex. She gags on my nipple, the bottle, paci, and her hands. Usually it’s fine but sometimes it makes her vomit. Did anyone else go through this? Can I just wait and let her outgrow it or do I need to see an OT? I prefer to wait- occupational therapy is 💰💰💰 and not covered by my insurance

Combo Feeding

Why don’t more Moms combo feed? What do you think is the amount of breast milk they need to really get the benefits of it, or is it more than any amount is good just the more the better? I assume a baby on 90% breast milk and 10% formula is pretty much getting all the benefits as a fully breastfed baby.

I’m EBF but playing around with the thought. My LO needs to gain a little weight and a better nights sleep from formula also sounds nice. My lactation consultant recommended trying it for weight gain. I feel bad about it but logically I don’t think I should.

Has anyone let their baby projectile vomit consistently and just let them grow out of it?

Our 12 week old consistently projectile vomits. Like 1-2 times per day every day. The pediatrician said not to worry just clean it and move on. But it’s hard for me! Did anyone experience this and just let their baby grow out of it? With that much projectile vomiting?

We ruled out pyloric stenosis and I already don’t eat dairy and soy. They said we can put her on meds but I rather not (we tried and the side effects make her so unhappy, she’s a happy vomiter lol). She’s 49 percentile in weight, 74th at birth. I prefer to just keep breastfeeding and hope she grows out of it, but I don’t want to jeopardize her health by doing that. I may experiment throwing in 2 or 3 formula bottles per day to see if that helps or ups her weight

Will I need to combo feed?

My baby eats 1-2oz every hour or 1.5 hours. She’s 11 weeks old. Since she eats small and so frequent, if I pump then I’m empty when she wants food. And she prefers the breast. She will tolerate a bottle but it’s not her preference. So I don’t want to pump because I want milk available for her when she’s hungry in my breast. But then if I have no pumped milk, I’ll prob have to top off with formula if she needs more after the breast?

For example- she ate around 5 from breast. She ate 6:15ish 1.5oz from bottle. I went to pump when she took the bottle but didn’t want to pump more than 5 minutes since I know she’ll want the breast again around 7:30. So I only got 1oz between the two breasts after 5 minutes. I’m scared she will need more than that later or tomorrow when I leave the house again she will need at least 2oz or 3oz to be safe. Does it seem like I’ll need to eventually supplement with formula? I used to be an overproduced but lately in the past week or so I feel like my milk supply has really dropped

Blue Around Lips

Around my 11 week olds lips gets blue. Usually in the bath. But we keep the bath hot (99 degrees) and the room hot too. I suspect it may be that she’s holding her breathe when we do her hair. Did anyone else have this? She loves the bath, no fussing

I took her to the pediatrician who just said she doesn’t know and not to worry. She said I can go to the cardiologist if I want to

Sad Mom- Forced Switch to Formula

UPDATE: the pediatrician and G.I. doc said that I should not switch the formula yet. They switched her to the medication** Lansoprazole. I am going to try that and see if it helps. They also want me to wait until her stool sample comes back to see if it’s an intolerance. Has anyone been on this medication before and had good results? **

It’s not really forced, more highly recommended. I have an 11 week old who has been projectile vomiting and spitting up bad. I’ve been working with the lactation consultant since the beginning trying everything to fix it. But she’s jumped from the 79 to 64 to 49 percentile on the growth chart. The lactation consultant says she rarely does this, but because the weighted feeds are showing she can’t keep down volume, the decline in the growth chart, and that she looks uncomfortable while eating despite a good latch, she wants me to try formula and see if it helps. She recommends pepticate

I love feeding her and it makes me so sad 😞 But I also want her to grow and be healthy.

Also: she said keep pumping and maybe I can reintroduce breast milk and eventually do a mix. Has anyone done this?

We’ve tried famotidine already with no luck. Also tried a strict elimination diet

Finally- Paci & Bottle that Works

Our baby loves nursing. We went through like 5 different bottle brands and 5 different pacifiers until we found ones she would take. Bottles she would scream and refuse, pacifiers she gags on. For anyone struggling, what worked for us was Lansinoh bottles and Ninni pacifier.

It’s prob different for everyone, but in case it might help

Oversupply and pumping

I have an 11 week old. I used to only nurse, now I pump and give some bottles (prob one to two per day). At night and in the morning she doesn’t eat as much milk so I end up getting really hard breasts and have to pump at least twice (usually before bed and then super early in the morning). Is this just something I’m going to have to keep doing until I stop breastfeeding? Sometimes it’s even three times per day. It didn’t start until I started the pumping in general. And she doesn’t sleep through the night, she just eats very litttle when she wakes at night
