Elopement Invite Etiquette?

My fiancé and I want to do an outdoor ceremony in the woods with immediate family (20) and a dinner reception. This is also local so there’s no travel or hotels needed.

For many different reasons i don’t want to give a lot of notice for the wedding. I won’t bog down the sub with details but trust me there are legit reasons (ex: keeping the family I’m no contact with in the dark).

Would it be ok if my fiance and I planned everything out and said: “we are getting married in 2 weeks, these are the details we would love if you can join us.”

Bad gut feeling?

First time posting here. I have experience with relatives (not in-laws) that are toxic, manipulative, mentally abusive etc. Although it’s unfortunate, I know how to handle that but I don’t know how to handle the bad gut feeling I get with my future in laws.

It’s been happening nearly every time I see them. I tried to ignore this when we first met but its not going away. I know this is hard to take seriously but I’ve had 2 people on my side of the family bring this up to me unprompted after seeing them. 1 of them has an incredible sense of character and picking up on things that are off so I put a lot of stock in their opinion.

My fiance is very close to his parents so I’m not comfortable discussing this with him as they haven’t done anything concrete to me (except a few digs from his mom).

I guess i don’t know what advice I’m looking for but has anyone else dealt with this?

ETA - thank you for the consideration replies. The digs are few and very minor (just a slight tone/edge I picked up on) so I don’t feel like I have anything to really bring up to my fiancé. It’s overwhelming just my gut feeling.

What assignments have worked well with case studies?

I teach a management course and I want to tweak my assignments for next semester. The area I think I can improve is with the case studies. Right now, I have them read a case (about 10 pages) that displays concepts I’ve lectured about. Then they complete short answer questions as homework and we have a discussion in class. I do this 3-5 times a semester.

I want to tweak this for 2 reasons. Primarily, I think it can be more engaging/impactful but also (and selfishly) grading their HW takes forever.

My first thought is instead of having each student answer every question, have a small group answer 1 question, present their info to the class and hand in a short response?

Does anyone do case studies differently? What has worked well?

Sincerely,
A New-ish professor trying to improve

Hair Oil

I was using (and loving) the OGX coconut miracle oil as an overnight hair mask but want something w/o the fragrance & chemicals. I’d put it in a few hours before I went to bed and I liked that it absorbed & wouldn’t stain my pillowcases.

Any recs for an oil I can use to repair damaged & colored hair?

Teaching burnout is indescribable (as you all know) + family life has been another level this year. I won’t bore the internet with details but trust I’ve had multiple/unrelated events in my family that were abrupt, traumatic and very emotional.

I feel like I’m on autopilot but it’s starting to glitch. I keep forgetting things (like turning my car off), I’m distracted, I can’t wind down etc.

The most concerning is I feel shaky about big things like my relationship. He’s wonderful and nothing but respectful and understanding. It’s not that I’m questioning it but I don’t feel solid?

Has anything similar happened to anyone else?

I’ll be attending a wedding in the Huntington/Melville area and need your help to try to avoid traffic (ikik).

  1. We’re coming from the New England area so I was thinking of taking a ferry.

Seems like New London to Orient Point avoids NYC traffic but has a longer drive to our destination. We can take a car with us so that’s ok. Main goal is to avoid traffic.

  1. Do you think this is the best route or do you have other ferry recs?

  2. How bad is traffic on Sunday? Could we just drive home instead of paying for the ferry again?

TIA!
