How do I stop being dependent on a study centre?

I used to waste most of my time at home watching YouTube or scrolling Reddit, so I started going to a study centre. It worked really well. I can study 6+ hours there and have a genuinely productive day.

The problem is, now I’ve become dependent on that environment. When I’m home, I struggle to study and immediately get lazy.

I can’t keep going to the centre every day because it’s far and the monthly fee isn’t something I can keep paying.

How do you guys avoid getting lazy at home? Did anyone else become dependent on a particular study environment and manage to break out of it?

How can I stay alert while studying without relying on caffeine?

I've noticed a pattern, even after taking a 1–1.5 hour nap post-lunch, I sit down to study and instantly feel exhausted. My go-to fix is black coffee but I really want to cut back on caffeine.

Why do I feel so sluggish after napping, and what natural routine tweaks or habits can help me stay awake and focused without coffee? Any advice would be really appreciated.

The worst part of Re-NEET wasn't the result.

Came back here to rant because I don't know where else to go.

Ever since the Re-NEET results, I've been feeling terrible. What's hurting me isn't even the result, but the realization that my father seems to love me only when I score perfectly. To him, 100/100 means I'm his daughter. Lose even 1 or 2 marks, and suddenly I'm a disappointment he's ashamed of.

I've always been an above average or average student but instead of appreciating what I achieve, he only points out what I missed because he's worried about what society will think.

I'm not heartbroken over my marks. I'm heartbroken because I feel like my worth as a daughter depends entirely on them. I just wish my father saw me as a person instead of a machine meant to feed his ego.

I don't know why I'm posting this. I just needed to let it out.

Should I take a partial drop or a full second drop for MBBS? I can't seem to let go of this dream.

I never thought not getting into MBBS would affect me this much, but the guilt and regret are eating me alive.

I've given other entrance exams too, and I'll most likely get a seat. But I still can't let go of my dream of becoming a doctor, and I'm considering giving NEET one final attempt. I'm confused between a partial drop and a full second drop.

The main reason I'm leaning towards a partial drop is that I don't have a good study environment at home. My father is an alcoholic and there's chaos every other night. At the same time, I can't guarantee I'll crack NEET if I take a full second drop. That self-doubt is making this decision even harder.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Which did you choose, and do you regret it? I'm looking for honest advice, even if it's hard to hear.

Just Another NEET Aspirant

I just want to rant and feel a little lighter.

I was another NEET aspirant among the sea of 20 lakh+ students. I took a year drop, studied, did whatever I could but maybe it just wasn't enough this time. I don't even have a chance at dental though I never wanted that anyway. What hurts the most is seeing my mom cry because I couldn't make it, while my dad keeps asking why another girl from our neighborhood could do it but I couldn't.

I've tried to accept that maybe MBBS just wasn't meant for me. It's the harsh reality that not everyone can become a doctor even though it's seen as such a prestigious career in India that almost every family dreams of it. Mine did too.

The worst part is that everyone in my family and even the nosy neighbors knew I was appearing for NEET, even though I never wanted to tell them. My phone has been on airplane mode since 11 PM because I have another exam tomorrow and I know people won't just call to wish me luck, they'll call to ask about my result. One neighbor even kept calling my mother repeatedly after already finding out from my father in person that I didn't make it. It felt like rubbing salt into the wound.

Right now, I'm overwhelmed. My mom is crying but telling me she'll always support me. My dad is disappointed and keeps comparing me to someone else. I just needed to let this out because this phase of life feels incredibly hard.

(used AI to make this rant a little more readable.)

How can I fix a harsh tone and quick temper?

I've realized I'm pretty short-tempered and my tone often comes across as harsh, even when I don't intend it that way. Stress has made me react before fully listening, and I genuinely want to change that.

For those who used to have anger issues or a sharp tone, what actually helped you? Any habits or mindset shifts that made a real difference?

Need some career guidance. Feeling completely stuck.

I'm 19, my qualifications : 12th pass and took a drop for NEET but I don't think I'll get an MBBS seat this year. Another full drop feels risky at this age.

I appeared for CUET as well and scored decent marks imo. I also have my state Agriculture/Veterinary entrance in 2 weeks and I'm considering joining B.V.Sc. or B.Sc. Agriculture (depending on my rank). My current options are:

  • Join college and prepare for NEET one last time alongside it.
  • Join college and focus on government exams instead.

I'm confused about what makes the most sense and what other career options I can consider apart from all these. The uncertainty has made it difficult to study.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Does anyone actually study like Kay Chung? Is it helpful in real life?

I've been seeing Kay Chung all over my YouTube lately and I actually enjoy watching her "study with me" shorts. I've also noticed a lot of creators making videos like "study with me like Kay Chung."

I'm curious if anyone here has actually tried studying this way consistently. Did it help you stay focused or motivated?

What's one habit, big or small, that you started which improved your life overall? and what made you start that habit in the first place?

I'm trying to improve my life and build better routines so I'm curious about habits people started that actually made a difference.

It can be anything, big or small, from exercising and reading to journaling, waking up earlier, or cutting screen time. literally ANYTHING.

How do you recover mentally after a bad exam when another one is coming up?

Whenever I finish an exam and feel like I’m somewhere between passing and failing, I completely spiral. I keep thinking about marks, results, family pressure, and whether I can live up to their expectations.

AND if I check answers and realize I didn’t do well, I get even more anxious and end up wasting days thinking about it. By the time I start feeling better, the next exam is already here.

I have one last exam left and I really want to give it my best.
How do you stop obsessing over a bad exam and move on quickly enough to focus on the next one?

Items to carry for IAT

i wanted to confirm one last time if these are the things to carry-

  1. 2 printouts of the admit card. (i got 2 because they collect one and the other will be with us as per mentioned in the admit card 😭)

  2. one photo ID and a xerox copy of it

  3. 1-2 passport sized photos JUST IN CASE they might be required although its not mentioned to carry

that's it right?

and regarding the photo ID, I did the registration with the aadhaar card so I've to carry the xerox copy of aadhaar only right? so should I keep a backup as well like pan card?

another doubt! the picture i uploaded and pasted has my name and the date of clicking the photo so that's not an issue right? (sorry im anxious)

Is it normal to feel itchy after shaving down there?

I use a razor to shave down there and recently I’ve been getting an itchy feeling after shaving. I’m wondering if it’s because of the razor or maybe the way I’m shaving. Should I switch to something else instead of a razor?

Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

my NEET didn’t go as planned, so I’m now focusing on IAT. I have a PCB background and wanted some honest guidance. What resources should I follow for preparation? Also, is it worth trying to cover some scoring Maths chapters at this stage, or should I stick strictly to PCB?

Would really appreciate any advice, strategies, or experiences.
