Found this recipe and added some tofu. The seasoning is a little on the bland side; haven’t entirely fixed it yet. Probably some garlic powder and cumin.
Three kinds of beans! Used the recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction (link in comments). It was… fine. I didn’t even know Sally did savory recipes and I think she should stick to sweets :P it was a bit bland and needed some extra spices to make it really delicious. I added extra of various Italian herbs as well as garlic powder. I also made some ground chicken to put in my serving (not pictured).

I couldn’t find a particular dupe recipe so I figured I’d go with this NYT one and adjust from there.
It was pretty good, but next time I would: 1) make the chicken flavor of the broth stronger; 2) use regular breadcrumbs for the meatballs instead of panko; 3) do half turkey half beef instead of half pork half beef. I know the Progresso has pork but the taste and texture of the meatballs just wasn’t quite right. The pork came through pretty strongly.
It’s bean and legume week! Time to highlight our favorite nutritious vegetarian protein source. Beans are one of my favorite soup ingredients and I’m looking forward to learning more bean recipes.
Speaking of, what are the community’s thoughts on repeating recipes, as we’re getting towards the end of the year? Should every soup be one you’ve never posted before, or is it ok to repeat one?
This week we want your best soup that’s a copy of a famous soup somewhere! Can be a store brand, or a restaurant soup, or some famous-but-recipeless soup from a well-known person. Creative license allowed: as long as it’s clearly strongly inspired by the original, if you’re moved to make some adjustments that’s fine. Please mention the original soup you’re duping in the post!

We are using a fold-and-send invite that fits nicely within our budget, and the rest of it is gorgeous, but the RSVP card is a postcard attached to the rest of the invite. So that portion is prestamped and the recipient detaches it and sticks it in the mail, no envelope.
Pictured is the RSVP portion of the invite only. We want to make it clear what they’re supposed to do, so especially our older relatives don’t get confused. Unfortunately there are very limited number of lines possible (only 7). This proof I have here is…adequate, I think. It gets the point across but I don’t love it, it feels a little awkward.
To forestall a couple comments:
- yes, we have to include a printed RSVP card and can’t just do website or the older relatives will revolt
- the fold-and-seal is really the prettiest invite option (we’re locked into certain patterns because invites come with our venue package) so we’d like to make it work and not just switch to a totally different invite
- the “number of persons” line I’d prefer to keep because we have a lot of folks who may want to come with or without their +1s or spouses or kids and we don’t want to have to chase them for numbers
Is this wording clear? Should I make any changes for clarity or aesthetics?
Used this recipe: https://www.theseasonedmom.com/wprm_print/virginia-brunswick-stew . It’s tasty, although quite heavy on the corn. Traditionally Brunswick stew was beans, potatoes, corn, and a mix of whatever small game meat you had hunted - rabbit, squirrel, possum- but these days people use grocery store meats. This recipe uses some bacon and a stripped rotisserie chicken.
I have seen versions that are fairly heavy on BBQ sauce, which I don’t like much because I find it’s an overwhelming flavor. This one I prefer, and is more tomato-y with some smoke from Worcestershire sauce.

We have a friend with a long-term girlfriend, long enough that etiquette would normally say she gets her name on the invite rather than “+1”. However, they have been having relationship trouble for some time and we have heard that she has moved out of their shared home. But they haven’t officially broken up. She would only be an acquaintance by herself, not close enough to be invited, plus if they’re on the outs we wouldn’t want to make him uncomfortable. Our wedding is next summer so who really knows how things will look then, but save the dates are going out in the next few weeks.
Do we address the save the date to them both? Address it to just him? Verbally tell him about the date but hold the actual card a few more months until we know? (He’s local so it’s not as time-sensitive as some of the others.) Something else?
This is an update to my previous post (which I can’t link and also give a pic, but it should be visible in my profile). My rep and I went a couple rounds of redesign on the CAD, we got it to a great place, and it was manufactured and shipped without any issues. My rep even checked on the FedEx info for me when it was sitting a few days in US customs. I am very happy with how the ring ended up turning out. My rep was very responsive the whole process, I never had to wait on any communication, and each round of CAD was fairly quick too. I think between revisions 2 and 3 (the biggest update) was the longest at about a week to get the CAD revision, which seems completely reasonable. I feel I got a fair price for it, as well. My worries in the last post stemmed from a misalignment of my expectations- I had expected that if there was a design posted on their blog, they would already have the CAD for exactly that thing and it wouldn’t be like a custom request. I think it is better to look at it more as a custom request where they just happen to have the design inspo, to help future people set their expectations if they’re ordering from a blog design.
Everyone who has seen the ring so far has given me complements on how pretty and unique it is, and I would definitely work with Provence and my rep again for future jewelry.
Sib has chin acne. We’ve done all of the usual things- no plastic water or food dishes, only metal and porcelain. Cleaned frequently. High-quality food. Cleaning chin gently with a brush. Chlorhexidine wipes. We can keep it down to a dull roar by cleaning every day but if we miss a couple days it’s right back to as bad as it was. Is the next step a vet visit? Any other burlier at-home treatments? What could they offer that’s different?
My ex-fiance and I have worked hard to maintain a good relationship since we ended our engagement four years ago. (I didn’t want to end the engagement; it was by his choice, but in retrospect I recognize it was for the best.) I am good friends with his new girlfriend. He’s good friends with my current partner. There isn’t any weirdness anywhere. That said, I’m not made of stone and I learned he and his girlfriend are getting engaged this weekend. I really don’t want to see all the social media spectacle; it just pokes at an old mostly-healed wound. Do I:
A) Hide from the internet (but I’m going to have to come back eventually, and I’ll just see it then, plus I can’t avoid them forever in person and don’t want to)
B) Take it as it comes
C) Turn into a cloud of fog and drift away

Homemade Progresso lentil soup dupe
The last five or six trails I've been on have all had super steep long sections and I'm tired of that. Any suggestions on trails of a few miles or so that are mostly level, and aren't just a bike path in an urban area?
I ordered through a rep and asked for a piece that Provence featured the concept art of on their blog, which I had fallen in love with. I’ve attached the screenshot of their concept piece, showing also that it is from Provence’s site. I got a quote for the piece in 10k and paid. I then received the CAD, which was significantly different from the ring featured in the art. I have attached it here, black background labelled V1. My most significant issue with it was they shrunk the shoulders and that amazing scrollwork so it looked like just a halo on a band, not like a contiguous signet-like piece.
Thinking maybe someone else had made some modifications to the design and they just reused those, I explained clearly and with pictures to the rep what was different in the CAD vs the design concept, circling different spots in particular, and explained how I liked the contiguous, signet-like look of the original design. I just got back the second version of the CAD. It is slightly improved from the first version but it *still* doesn’t look like the original. I attached it here also labelled V2.
What do I do here? I’m starting to feel worried and discouraged. I just want the gorgeous, antique/ signet-looking ring that they had on their blog, not some sort of halo on a straight band thing. It’s not even my design, it’s theirs, so I know I’m not asking for impossible things. Do I do another round of trying to explain what’s different between the CAD and the original design?

With the cost of gold being what it is (💸) I’ve been looking into silver more. But regular sterling silver is too soft for everyday wear. Is Provence able to do any designs in other silver alloys, like Continuum sterling silver? Or any other metal options I’m not aware of?
