Picked up a “Pittsburg” 1911. This is a post war copy made in Korea.
This happened in transit to the dealer. After we couldn’t get anything to happen with ups I did the paperwork and background check and took it home. Gun still works so whatever. They somehow ate through the soft case, manufacturers box and shipping box.
Ups said to contact manufacturer and manufacturer said to contact ups. Guess it’s got character now.
I’ve always assumed it’s khyber homemade or similar, maybe South American. Translates to “Swedish Steel”.
Pulled it out of an eastern Nebraska creek in private land.
We’re mixed in with vintage Marlin slide and lever rifle parts but who knows if that’s even close. The old man loved to mix and match parts.
Found near the slim buttes area along with 1870s era carriages and casings. To me it looks like the broken lid to something. About 1/4” thick and both were found close but not together. Just would like to know possibly what it was and what it said.
Appears to be cast iron and a tad under 1/4” thick. Found in a camp along with .44 Henry, .45-70 and other cases along with a few other doodads.
Found it in a pawn shops junk box.
These are all Kynoch and Eley tropical cans. They were made to seal hunting ammo up in tropical conditions. I’ve got them ranging from 5 rounds of .240 up to 50 rounds of .600 nitro express.
