How heavy would Bucky need to be to flip the motorcycle in motion?

The scene in Captain America: Civil War where Bucky grabs the moving motorcycle is one of my favorite scenes. It’s just so badass. But the physics don’t really work. Wouldn’t Bucky need to weigh a ton to pull this off? What would make this possible?

Berlin to Siberia timeline in Civil War

In Civil War, the Berlin fight ends with Steve and Bucky flying off in Team Iron Man’s quinjet to Siberia to intercept Zemo. They were in a time crunch.

In that same amount of time, Rhodey is knocked out of the sky and taken to surgery. Tony and Tasha go back to the compound in New York. Rhodey is apparently done with his hospital stuff because Tony is casually telling Tasha about the outcome. Somewhere in there, the four remaining members of Team Cap are arrested and taken to The Raft.

Tony flies his helicopter to The Raft, interviews Sam, then he Iron-Man-flies from there to Siberia…arriving just a few minutes after Steve and Bucky and right before T’Challa (who was following Tony.)

Tony’s trip should’ve taken a couple days at least, especially when you realize that his visit to The Raft happened sometime at night.

So…flying a supersonic Quinjet from Berlin to Siberia takes as long as flying from Berlin to the US via something else (because they didn’t have the Quinjet) then a helicopter to The Raft then free-flying as Iron Man to Siberia.

That doesn’t math right.

Did Steve and Bucky stop for a burger? Maybe a movie? Maybe a side-trip to honeymoon in Paris?

I know it “ain’t that kind of movie,” but hear me out. Does anybody have any in-universe explanation for the timing between the fight in Berlin and Siberia?

Buford’s gang can read?

Does anybody find it odd that Buford’s sidekick was able to read “Nike” on Marty’s shoes? Wouldn’t he have been illiterate? Marshall Strickland even taunts Buford about not being able to read.

How do you pronounce “Engi?”

Is it:

  1. IN-jih (short for “engineer”)
  2. IN-jee
  3. IN-ghee (hard “g”)
  4. Something else entirely

I’ve always assumed #2, but I’m curious what others think or if there’s a canon pronunciation.

The Naked Time (TOS)

I just finished watching The Naked Time for the first time in probably 40 years. (Yes. I’m that old.)

One thing I didn’t remember was that at the end, they discovered they had traveled back in time about three days because of Mr. Spock’s unique matter/anti-matter formula. They could have kept going if they didn’t reverse the engines.

After they started moving forward in time again, the crew mused that they had discovered how to “time warp” and the number of possibilities that could open. It was a perfect lead-in for time travel in the Star Trek universe.

But then once time travel started becoming central to the plot, I don’t remember them using this particular method ever again.

I don’t know if this is a question or an observation. It just seems weird that they would discover a universe-defining ability and just brush it aside or continue to use untested methods when they actually wanted to travel through time.

24/7 whitelabel WP helpdesk?

Our agency is a typical 9 to 5 US-based agency. We build, host, and manage WordPress sites. We have a couple of clients who are looking for 24/7 support. We don’t need somebody who can completely manage sites. We have that handled. We just need a company that can handle after hours editing and support requests. We currently use managed hosting through Pressable.

Everything I’m finding is full support. We don’t need that. We basically just need a 24/7 helpdesk. It needs to be manned humans, not an AI.

Any suggestions?

Do not DM me. If you DM me, I will block you. I’m not looking for a sales pitch. I’m looking for recommendations.

Showing some love for Lora

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Lora mentioned on here. For a classic, legible, serif body font, I personally love it.

We recently used it for a rebrand of a local church who wanted the classic styling of Caslon or Garamond, but legible at smaller sizes…which those two fonts are not. The tall x-height makes Lora very legible, and overall the serifs are well-positioned. Sure, there are issues here and there as with any type, but overall Lora carries its weight well. (And it’s a variable weight too!)

Anyhoo… didn’t mean to sound like a pitch. It’s free anyway. And forums like this are for opinions.

What do you think of Lora? Have you used it in a project before? What are your likes/dislikes?

Original NES controller from RadioShack

I’m not sure how many of these were made and sold. I picked this up on clearance in ‘93 or so. I pulled it out for some retro gaming. Still works great!

Unused Original 1986 Robie Sr. Any info appreciated.

Radioshack Robie Sr. in the original box. I honestly dont think any component has ever been so much as taken out. Everything in there, down to the RadioShack own batteries, is in it’s original cellophane wrapping bar the actual robot which I imagine wasn’t in anything to begin with. Theres even the original Federal Express delivery documentation from when it was transported from the USA to UK dated Sep1986. Any info that anyone could provide would be much appreciated.

Thesis to Genesis, and now wondering what's next after watching Kadence go through the same thing

So a little background here….

We're an agency that's been building on Genesis for years now, mostly because we got burned by Thesis back when DIY Themes basically stopped developing it. We've still got a few old Thesis sites limping along that we can't move to modern PHP without a full rebuild, so when we picked Genesis (before the WP Engine acquisition) we specifically picked it to avoid ever being in that spot again.

Fast forward to now and we're watching Genesis sit without a major feature release since 2022, no FSE support, and it's pretty clear WP Engine's actual investment is going elsewhere these days. We get it. That's just where WordPress core has moved, and Genesis's whole architecture predates FSE. But it puts us right back in a familiar spot, trying to figure out what we migrate to next.

We'd started looking seriously at Kadence as the obvious FSE native option, and then the LiquidWeb consolidation happened in May. Obviously it's a different company and a different product, but honestly, the shape of the problem feels identical…An independent product builds trust for years, gets acquired by a hosting company, and things look stable for a while. Then there's a sudden restructuring that leaves a bunch of users dealing with broken licenses and pricing changes overnight.

At this point, we're starting to wonder if picking the right framework is even the right question anymore. We've now watched this exact pattern play out three separate times without ever going looking for it.

I’m curious if anyone here has a framework or theme base they actually trust because it's already been through an ownership change or acquisition and came out fine on the other side. I'm not talking about one that just hasn't been bought yet, I mean one that's actually been tested.

I’m also curious if anyone's gone the route of skipping third party frameworks entirely and just building on core FSE with their own internal standards and boilerplate. How has that actually held up for client work, especially the stuff a framework usually hands you for free, like SEO markup, accessibility scaffolding, and security conventions?

And if you're still recommending a specific framework in 2026, I'd love to hear why you trust where it's headed and not just what it can do right now. That means things like ownership structure, funding model, and who's actually behind it.

I’m not trying to relitigate Genesis vs Avada vs Divi here. I just want to know what other people who've been doing this a while are actually building new client sites on right now and why.

Did you go back to college?

I went to college for three semesters in the early 90s but never finished due to family financial hardship. I ended up going into the workforce, starting a family, etc. You know the path.

So here I am, turning 55 in less than two months, and feeling like I missed out on something. I’ve felt this for the last 30 years of my life. I have tons of “life credit” and some community college classes I can roll into a 4-year degree.

I’m not uneducated at all. I went to a great college prep high school, have been running successful businesses for 20+ years, and don’t really NEED a degree. But I want it.

For people who went back to school after your 20s, what was your path? Any pitfalls to watch out for? Any tips to share? Did you feel it was worth it?

Where do I even start?

My wife and I are going to Star Wars Celebration next spring. We’re planning on spending a few days (maybe a week or more) in the LA area as part of the trip.

We’re seasoned WDW visitors and have played all of their “games” when it comes to reservations, lightning lanes, fast passes, preferred dining, etc. If it sounds like I’m mixing things up it’s because I’ve been going there for over 50 years and have seen it all.

But DisneyLAND? Well…that’s a whole new world.

I don’t even know where to start planning. Do we need to virtually queue up for hotel reservations at 6:59 AM exactly 181 days prior to our planned arrival? Do we need to map our park visit with a compass, map, gps, and atomic clock to maximize enjoyment while simultaneously remembering to hydrate?

Or can we just show up, buy a ticket at the gate, and walk in to The Happiest Place on Earth™? (You know…like we used to be able to do at WDW before 1998.

I’m open to any tips, tricks, advice, books, blogs…

Lay it on me!

App issues since the latest version?

I definitely have trips coming up but it keeps saying zero. Also, my calendar no longer auto populates flight info from within the app.

Just wondering if it’s just me or if others are having similar issues.

How can I automatically send an email when someone replies to a closed ticket?

We're running Service Hub Pro with an active support portal and ticketing.

I'm trying to set up an automated response in HubSpot that fires specifically when a contact replies to a ticket that's already been closed (status: Done). I already have an email that triggers telling customers when a ticket is closed and to open a new ticket for new issues, but they ignore it and reply to the closed ticket anyway, which reopens it and forces us to manually split it into a new ticket.

Here's what I want to happen: When a contact replies to a closed ticket thread, they automatically receive an email telling them the ticket is closed and directing them to open a new ticket through our support portal.

What I know so far: HubSpot's documentation states that if I turn on "A customer replies to an email" and a contact then replies to an existing thread on a ticket, the ticket's status is automatically updated to the first open status in the pipeline. https://knowledge.hubspot.com/object-settings/set-up-pipeline-automations-for-objects (#7 under Automate actions based on ticket status)

Based on this, it looks like the ideal approach is probably:

  1. Make the first open status in my pipeline something specific like "Replied After Close"
  2. Build an automation that fires when a ticket enters that status and sends the email

My concern: Even though this is the direction I'm leaning, this doesn't look like it would work the way I want it to. The documentation says, "the ticket status will change when a contact replies to the same thread the ticket was created on. If the ticket was closed and then reopened, any new threads on the ticket will also update the ticket status."

My question: Does the "first open status" rule apply only to closed ticket replies, or would it also affect tickets in other open statuses (like "In Progress") if a contact replies to those as well? We actively email to and from tickets. I don't want every customer reply to move the ticket from "In Progress" to "Replied After Close" and send an email telling them it's closed. Based on what I'm seeing, I'm afraid that's what would happen. Can anybody confirm whether or not this is the case? If it is, can anybody offer any solutions for my situation?
