Where is the best lobster in SXM?

Spent the last 5 days in Anguilla and really enjoyed Sharky’s. However, was a little disappointed with the grilled lobster at Tasty’s. We’re spending another day at SXM and looking for places with the best grilled lobster (staying at Grand Case Beach Club if that helps). I’m seeing Calmos as being suggested by most, should we give it a shot? Thanks!

Cap Juluca for Lunch?

Finally arrived in Anguilla yesterday and oh my… I’m already in love with the place! Food is definitely expensive and I’m used to splurging on food but we didnt realize an average meal for 2 does run you up to 150$ most places but all of them have been great and really good so far!

Question for those that dined at Cap Juluca - are the restaurants worth going to and staying at the property for half a day if they have chairs/umbrellas available? or are we better off going to meads bay/ rendevouz bay?

12 Week Ultrasound Encounter with MFM

We had to TFMR in January (19 weeks 5 days) due to my hypertension. Doctors said it was pre-eclampsia and something very rare that doesnt usually happen before 20 weeks. Fast forward to today, I’m pregnant again and although it was not something we really planned for (as we’re still healing from the traumatic experience from earlier this year), we’ve decided to continue with the pregnancy and being hopeful this will be a different experience than the last.

We had our 12 week ultrasound today and also our first time seeing this new high risk doctor. As soon as he came in the room, the first thing he asked was if we were advised by our previous doctors that it wasnt recommended to get pregnant again (we told him no, this was not something explicitly said) and directly proceeded that if it’s not a wanted pregnancy, he can provide options and suggestions to get the pregnancy terminated out of state.

I was so shocked and put off by this first encounter. He didnt even give us results on the ultrasound or share findings, go over my medical history. It was literally the first thing that was brought up - options for terminating if we wanted to.

I stopped and asked him if he found anything abnormal or anything to be concerned about with the ultrasound, he said nothing to be concerned for now and everything is great. NIPT results came low risk, no concerns from ultrasound, gestational size of the baby matches age… and the thing he wants to emphasize was termination? I know there are risks and would love to be educated and advised on risks we might not be aware of but do I have the right to be upset about this encounter?

We also met our regular OB last month and I brought up how we’re worried about losing the baby again and he stopped both my partner and I right away and told us to be optimistic because every pregnancy is different.. and now this is what we experienced with our MFM.

How would you deal with this situation if you were in my shoes?

TL;DR: We had to TFMR at 19w5d in January due to severe early-onset preeclampsia, and I’m now 12 weeks pregnant again with a baby who has a normal ultrasound, low-risk NIPT, and is measuring on track. At our first MFM appointment, before discussing the ultrasound or my history, the doctor immediately brought up terminating the pregnancy out of state if it wasn’t wanted, despite saying everything looked normal. I understand I’m high risk and want honest counseling, but am I wrong for feeling upset that termination was the first thing discussed instead of the pregnancy or a plan for moving forward?

It’s my baby boy’s birthday today

Today was supposed to be my baby’s due date (unfortunately we tfmr’d back in January of this year at 19 weeks due to to my health) and I am having a hard time getting up to start work. I’m also currently 12 weeks pregnant (another boy❤️) exactly today and I’m feeling all sorts of emotions. I’ve been crying since I woke up and what is supposed to be a new milestone is filled with mixed emotions.

Anyone else went through this and got pregnant soon after tfmr and still not emotionally attached to the new pregnancy/baby? We love them both just the same but I keep telling myself to not get too excited until I have the baby in my hands and he’s out in the world. This isn’t fair.

Participation in Independence Conversation

Has anyone else received an email regarding scheduling a call with an independence specialist 1:1 and how participation is required? Does anyone know what the expectations are for this meeting?

Part-Time Job as a server

Does anyone have another FT job on top of being a server? I’m curious how scheduling works and how flexible restaurants are.

I have a full time job in tech and make decent money but my partner and I are about to move to an area where I dont know anyone. I feel like I’ll have so much time on my hands outside of my regular job and its also a great way to meet people. Is this a good idea to try and work 10-15 hours a week?

Regular work schedule for me M-F but I do travel often for work and fly to different states 1-2 times a month.

Zemi Upgrade Offer - Yes or No?

Hi all - really looking forward to our trip next week! I’ve asked to put a note on our reservation to have us upgraded to an ocean view room, if available. Reservations team said they wont be able to guarantee the upgrade until we get there but I have the option to pay the $250 for a guaranteed upgrade.

Help 😅😂😅 A part of me wants to just pay it but a part of me also wants to just take the chance (I mean that 250$ can be spent on one dinner night too)

(Diamond status with Hilton if that makes any difference)

Smell down there?

About 9 weeks today and I cant stand being able to smell myself. Prior to being pregnant I can literally go to the gym, workout, come home and not smell anything as in 0. Now, it’s like even just a few hours after showering and absolutely doing nothing, I can smell myself every time I pee.

2nd pregnancy here and never noticed or had any smell during the 1st.

Any tips and tricks that might actually help??? 😩

Traveling to Caribbean using points and miles - Insurance?

We have an upcoming trip booked on points for flights (AA) and paid for Southwest on the way back (cash). Hotel is also booked through Hilton points.

If we were to get travel insurance (since hurricane season is approaching), do we just take into consideration the southwest cash value paid + medical insurance?

After researching online it looks like AA and Hilton most likely can refund the points/miles and the insurance company wont necessarily have a cash value for these to even refund it.

Want to see if anyone has any suggestions or experience they can share? TY!

Anyone same boat as me? Pregnant after TFMR 4 months ago

Hi all - I want to see if anyone is on the same boat or experienced the same thing as me. We recently went through TFMR in January of this year at 19 weeks due to my health. BP was through the roof (200/100s) and they couldnt get it back down after days of monitoring so unfortunately the doctors had to suggest terminating before something happened to me.

Fast forward to today, I am 7.5 weeks pregnant. This was not planned and not something we were expecting as my husband and I are still recovering mentally and honestly just the trauma from everything that happened. It is too early to know if I’m going to end up with the same problem but we are both scared. Embarrassingly (cant even believe I am admitting this here) we’re now both trying to decide if we want to continue this pregnancy or not.

We want to have kids and have never been against having them but just worried sick about me nearly dying just a few months ago and having to go through the same thing again (possibly). My husband said he’s accepted that we might just not have kids at all, he’d rather accept that than lose me or see me in that situation again at the hospital helpless etc.

Has anyone gone through TFMR (not due to baby health or issue but mom’s health) and had a rainbow baby the next time around?

Layover in Miami

We have a trip to Anguilla at the end of June.

MCO-MIA-AXA

Layover in Miami is only an 1 hr 20 mins. Considering our flight departing Orlando is on time, will this layover be sufficient? Has anyone done the same route with AA?

Thank you

Boarding Group Question

Hi all - we are flying Southwest from SXM to MCO. We purchased the 2nd to the cheapest fair initially but upgraded our seats to extra legroom (Row 5). Does anyone know if we would be lucky to get an earlier boarding group or would we be assigned a later one regardless of the extra legroom seats?

just worried about stories from people running out of overhead bin space and having seats up front with luggages on the 20th row😭

Unexpected Pregnancy Few Months Post TFMR

I just found out today that I am pregnant. I am traveling for work next week so I can’t go see my doctor until next Friday to confirm how far along I am.

I’m not sure what my purpose is for writing this post but I am a little lost on how to feel. We went through TFMR January 28 of this year due to preeclampsia at 19 weeks (very rare). Most days I am fine and mentally ok but honestly not sure if I am even in the right headspace to deal with another pregnancy at the moment considering my health concerns and the trauma I went through just a few months ago. A part of me is excited because what if this is really oue rainbow baby? but a part of me also feels like I am selfish to even entertain getting pregnant again knowing I have underlying health issues that might potentially affect my pregnancy.

I am so lost, confused, not sure what to do. Has anyone been on the same boat as I am?

Wig Suggestions (Southeast Asian)

Hi! Looking for any suggestions for a natural looking wig. I am asian (Filipino) so something dark brown and straight/a little wave is fine too.

Hair thinning on the crown area and still have long hair so want something I can wear temporarily while I figure out how to fix this issue😭 If you have pics to share, that would be great as well!

Malliouhana, Anguilla

Has anyone recently visited Malli? Wanted to know what benefits (if any) we have if we were to book a few nights over there.

I understand upgrades arent guaranteed but want to know if we get free breakfast or daily resort credit? Also how far is the walk to the beach? I’ve read a few posts saying it can also be a hike vs Frangipani which is an oceanfront property and also located in Meads Bay.

Any information is helpful as we still can’t decide where we’re staying😅 Doing 3 nights at Zemi on the SBE side and the other half over at Meads.

Thank you!
