Desperately trying to rehome my parents cat (cleveland, OH)

I’ve tried Facebook, AdoptAPet and local shelters. No luck. This is truly my last resort.

This is Noodle. She’s about 7 years old. She’s very affectionate, curious and spunky.

My parents have her locked in a basement with no lights all day and night because our old cat used to urinate on things when panicked (our sisters large dog would chase her) and Noodle urinated in one of the old spots. My parents refuse to properly clean the urine and do the surprised pikachu face when Noodle smells it and scent marks there. She has lived in another house with 0 accidents. This is purely their fault. I’ve tried properly cleaning and even hiring a cleaner service and they won’t let me.
She doesn’t get to see a vet for yearly check ups either. Our last cat died because they wouldn’t take her to the vet.

All day and night she cries hysterically by the basement door and scratches at it. I’m not allowed to let her out. I’m disabled and live with my adoptive family and we can’t take her because we have too many animals and our landlord is upset with us. I’d take her in a heartbeat if I could but I can’t. I’ve begged and pleaded.
I’ve asked people I know, even old friends i don’t talk to and people my sibling works with. Nobody can take her. Because of her age shelters won’t even reply when I send in info. Facebook has been a bust as well.

I need her to find a new home but I’m genuinely terrified of the kind of people online who might feign an interest… I’ve seen people use cats as bait or just to straight up abuse/kill. So if someone adopts her I’d like to be able to video call and see her every now and then (obv not at random, I’d make sure it’s ok with you). She’s an indoor cat. She’s spayed. She has her claws and please don’t declaw her. She’s okay around dogs and cats but I’m not sure if she’d be as comfortable around little kids.

If you or anyone you know is interested in this sweet girl please let me know.

resources for rehoming my parent’s cat? Shelters accepting older cats?

My parents are unable to properly care for their cat and have left it up to me to rehome her. She’s 7 years old, spayed, has her claws. I love her to death but I don’t know anyone who would take her.

I’ve tried putting ads on Facebook and Craigslist and they always get removed. I can’t find any websites that are reliable for pet rehoming. I’ve looked into local shelters but they don’t have any openings, especially not for “older” cats such as this one. But if anyone knows any resources I’m all ears.

She just cries all night and day. Her friend, our cat of almost 20 years, just passed away recently and I don’t think she’s taking it well. I don’t live at their house and I can’t take her with me.
She’s a great cat though. Super silly and affectionate.

And sadly, asking them to step up their game just isn’t going to work. I’ve tried countless times.

Edit: thank you all for your suggestions! <3

disabled NEET— how do yall make friends?!

I want to work and start college but I have debilitating social anxiety and le autism. I’m 22 and I know almost everyone my age has friends… like. If I’m not doing anything I should at least be hanging out with people my age, right?
I don’t have any friends. The few other people irl I knew only have friends from their high school days and can’t seem to meet anyone either, even online (just a lack of good connections to be made).
How do y’all do it?

I’ve tried servers, meet ups, socializing subreddits (on other accounts), just being friendly to people irl… I’m not a gamer and there’s no clubs or groups for any of the interests I have so I feel kinda stuck ;_; I honestly feel like crying most days because I miss having buddies and sleepovers and going on little outings with my friends. It’s been so dry since middle school. My only friend is my twin brother.

Queer cafes/places to hang out?

Hey! I’m 22nb and I’m trying to find places to hang out during the summer so I can make friends. A friend of mine from a few hours away says they normally meet people at queer cafes so I figured I’d try to find something around here. I’m from Berea but I’ve been told countless times to check out Lakewood if I wanted to meet other queer folks.
Not really interested in bars or clubs. I’m on the ace spectrum and have ran into a lot of bad stuff in places like those.

My only friend was faking interest in me and now I’m back to square one.

I struggle a lot with connecting to people. Meeting people in general is just really hard for me because I’m disabled and riddled with social anxiety. Even when I meet people, I rarely feel a connection to them.

I’m 22. Almost a year ago I made my first friend in like, 6 years. We hit it off and I thought things were going well, we even talked about going on dates. For once I thought someone really liked me. But even after kissing me they told my brother they were just lying because they felt bad (I was dealing with suicidal ideation). I never asked them to do anything and always tried to keep things as normal as possible. They had no reason to lie. It’s not like I was dependent on their validation. I made it clear that they were my friend and I wanted us to be honest with each other.

“So what if they don’t have the same feelings, just be their friend!”. It’s hard to do that when I know they’re capable of lying to me behind my back.
I’ve been through a lot. Before this person my *only* friend was my ex, who was constantly lying to me and warped by sense of security and trust. I’ve been lied to, cheated on and used by everyone I’ve ever cared about and once trust is broken, it’s so hard to build it back up… especially when these people never even admit they’ve done anything until caught.

I just feel really sad. I liked having a friend. I liked having someone to text about life. I liked looking forward to hangouts and all the stuff we planned. I thought for once someone actually liked me.

I’ve got the rest of the summer and God knows how long to waste away again. Nothing is fun anymore without friends. Doing stuff alone just feels like busywork.

Why do I only care about my fixations and nothing else? How do I become more open to other things?

Why are my interests so limited?
I can talk all day about my strange little interests but if someone begins talking about something else I just… don’t care.
That makes me feel like such a bad person! But all my attention melts away and I’m like “oh ok” until the subject comes back to something I’m familiar with.
I try to care, I try to engage, but it’s like my brain turns off :(
I think maybe it’s because in my childhood I was allowed to envelop myself in my fixations freely (for the most part) and now I’m just used to things relating to stuff I like?
How do I get better with this? I don’t want people to think I don’t care about them… it’s just the thing they talk about. I try to care about the subject but I literally just can’t. But if I see something relating to it elsewhere I’ll send it to that person, so it’s not like it just goes over my head! I just… can’t relate to it, so it seems foreign to me. Kinda like when I was expected to learn subjects in school but was only able to master the ones I liked, failing the others.
Ugh. I feel like such a jerk.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Dealing with chronic loneliness?

How do you cope with not having friends/chronic loneliness? Especially when it’s a direct result/consequence of your social anxiety?

I have very bad social anxiety and it’s only improved a smidge with therapy and meds. I dream of being a social butterfly but nobody really talks to me even if I talk to them. Online friendships end the same way, just no connection, no spark.

I’m incredibly lonely. Sometimes I just cry into my pillow or a plushie because it’s so overwhelming…
I’ve had social anxiety since I was a small child. I haven’t had any friends for about 10 years. I’m 22 now.
Something I read was that chronic isolation leaves the brain in a similar state to starvation. For me, it occupies almost all my thoughts— “gotta meet people! How will I do that? I have to make friends! I don’t wanna be alone!”. It’s especially hard when it seems everyone else my age has friends, a partner, a found family.

I’d like to know if anyone else deals with this, even on a lesser level, due to their social anxiety? And how you cope with it?
How do you keep yourself from going crazy?

(Yes, I’m trying more social stuff like meetups and servers etc! but it doesn’t help much without a true, deep connection which most casual things can’t bring me)

Can’t connect to anyone?

I haven’t been able to connect with anyone or truly make friends since my ex (over 5 years ago).

I meet a lot of people and I just don’t feel any strong connection with anyone, even if we have the same things in common. I do actively try to meet similar people, as well as non-similar people. I’m in groups for hobbies I like and what not.
I just never feel… right. Nobody ever feels like a real friend to me, even the people who’ve been in my life for a while or have been genuinely good to me.
Don’t get me wrong, I CAN feel connections to others. My first (and last) connection was with an ex, who felt like a copy of me almost. We had literally almost everything in common and now things just seem to pale in comparison?
I don’t go into things expecting them to feel like things felt with my ex. But whenever I realize that I don’t connect to someone it does make me think back to my ex and miss the bond we shared…
Does anyone else struggle with this?

Trans Christians: getting surgery?

Trans Christians…
How do you come to peace with taking hormones or getting gender affirming surgery?
my dad says it’s a sin for me to take hormones or get surgery because god already made me perfect. He said “God knew me before I was even formed” and “God made no mistakes making me in the body I am”.
I’m non-binary and have identified as such since I was 8. I have top surgery in a few weeks and now I’m starting to doubt myself.

I’m not trying to insult God or imply that my body was a mistake… I mean, people circumcise their children, removing something God gave them. People color their hair or trim their body hair, which is changing something God gave them, because it makes them feel like a better, healthier person. but at the same time, I am changing the way God made me and I guess I am saying that I don’t feel right in my God-given body… but without GAC, I feel depressed and just plain wrong. It’s not something caused by mental illness; it’s not like cutting off my nose or cutting my skin because I feel sad. I’m not trying to change myself for vanity’s sake…

Could I get some opinions from other trans Christians? Preferably those who have gone through gender reassignment surgery?

I don’t want to argue with anyone who’s anti-trans or who’s gonna try to tell me to renounce my identity as a lgbt person… I’ll be ignoring those messages. I’ve gotten them before in similar circumstances.

I have autism, adhd, BPD and these last few years have been super strange with my PTSD as well. However, I’ve talked to others with the same disabilities and they don’t ever seem to have this issue.

I find it difficult to make friends and nearly impossible to connect with people.

When I was younger I always made friends, online and irl. but now it’s like I can’t do it anymore?

I put myself out there. I make socializing posts on another account, I go out in public, I talk to people.

Even people with the same interests never feel like more than a stranger to me. I’ve met people in groups where we all liked the same stuff and shared the same hobbies, etc— so it’s not like I’m just looking in the wrong places.

I have two friends and I don’t really feel close to them. I care about them, and they’re wonderful people, but I don’t feel the sort of “need” I felt when I was with my ex partner.

My ex was the only person I’ve ever connected to. We had everything in common and felt like twins almost— so now everything pales in comparison… but even when I’ve met people who should have been just as compatible, I just didn’t feel anything. No spark. No bond. Is it possible that due to the trauma of that relationship, my brain is kinda protecting me from being hurt again? Our relationship was very tumultuous and we were very codependent. BPD fueled a lot of it, for both of us.

I just don’t know what to do. I miss being close to someone. I miss the friendships I used to have when I was younger, when I felt like I was a part of something… it’s like no matter what I do, everyone around me is made of cardboard. It’s not their fault. It’s something wrong with me. :(

I have really bad social anxiety. I can’t go out in public unless it’s outdoors and even then, I panic when there’s too many people.

College is a struggle for me. I can’t attend because even being on campus when there’s no classes, I get so overwhelmed that I nearly puke and/or faint.

I’ve tried exposure therapy. I’ve forced myself to go to conventions, meet ups, etc. all of those ended with me having a panic attack and nearly being taken to the ER because my heart rate was so high.

I take anti-anxiety medication, I’ve been in therapy. I’ve tried taking THC gummies and while those normally help my general anxiety, they did nothing for when I was outside in a social area.

What should I do?

When I’m around other people, especially people my age, I just lose my mind. There are so many people and I get so overwhelmed. Not to mention the fear of rejection and self esteem issues… I’ve been bullied since I was a little kid (I’m autistic) and it’s led to many years of social isolation which No doubt eroded away at what little social skills I had.

So being told “just go outside” is hard. But is it worth trying still? Is exposure therapy my only choice? Does it even work?

I have a friend who wants to bring me to cafes or other social events so I can try to make friends, but with the level of my anxiety being so bad, I don’t think I can do it. They said it’s helped their other friends with similar issues but compared to me everyone seems so capable.

I’m so lonely. I don’t do anything all day and I don’t see anyone. I don’t feel close to anyone. I’m going insane
