Issue with meal choices after upgrades!

This is not a big deal, just a minor issue that leads to less than perfect experience. If one has booked in economy, we know that the meal choices are limited. One might go ahead and choose preferred meal as "vegetarian" if they do not like chicken. If the Upgrade to business comes through, there are more meal choices in the menu. There is sea-food, lamb etc,. Porting over the prior economy meal choice and restricting the food options as it is, to Business class is really denying the "business class". I might want Salmon if I get updated to Business and there should be a way to be served that for last minute upgrades. Thank you for listening to my rant.

"అఱం" meaning?

Just started reading a collection of short stories "నెమ్మి నీలం" by Jayamohan.

Ran into this word "అఱం" and is used in the context of Dharmam being delivered but wondering what the true meaning of the word is?

Reply to Namasthe?

I read long time ago that there is a beautiful response to someone greeting you "Namasthe", which goes something like "Namaha" back at you. Does anyone know what it is and help me find it?

Summer/July-4th break in the US needs to go!

Hear me out! Summer break comes at a cost to both the firm and the employees. 3 days of PTO are subtracted for the summer break ( while that has changed due to unlimited PTO, it still factors in when utilization is counted). Not everyone wants to take the break around the same time and the client work also suffers.

Instead, the firm should offer 3 days of floating summer PTO for all the employees to be taken during the months of May, June & July that expires on July31. No disruption to work while everyone has the freedom to take a break when they want to.

Edit: People who want to take time off during July4th, still get to do it. It only means, not everyone is forced to do it at the same time and folks have more options.

I 45M have feelings for a 40F, that I met at a cause. How do I navigate trying to date her?

I, M(45+) am in love with a 45F, that I met doing some volunteer work we both believe in. We shared coffee dates and hung out. She has been married before. She walked out of the first marriage due to abuse issues. She has a son from the first marriage who is grown up now. She had a 2nd marriage when her son was young. Her 2nd ex-husband married her for Green card/US Citizen ship and dumped her as soon as he got one. ( It is sad that bad things happen to good people, but I digress). I have never been married before and nor do I have any kids.
From what I know, she is afraid of giving relationship a 3rd chance (with me) and one of the reasons is: If the relationship fails, her stature would be lowered through the eyes of her son and her son is the most important part of her life, rightfully so. She probably already feels guilty of putting her son in an unsafe environment with her 2nd marriage as well. I empathize with her position. The son has just graduated from college and is going to have a life of his own.
How do I navigate to convince her to give me a chance? Not to daydream or "jump the gun" but any legal entanglement in the long run (marriage) is out of question.

TIA!

A few questions about Mahabharata?

I consider well versed with Mahabharata and at the same time a life long learner. A few gaps that I was pondering about recently;

  1. Out of the 100 Kauravas, there was 1 Kaurava who switched sides and fought on the side of Pandava as he believed it was Dharma. So why did he die then? How do we justify the fact then while all Pandavas (minus Karna) get to live but not this particular One Kaurava.

  2. Kurukshetra was the place of the battle. Gandhari asked Duryodhana to take a dip in river Ganga, so she could bless him with Iron shield by opening her blindfolded eyes. How is this logistically possible? No stream of Ganga is anywhere near Kurukshetra.

  3. Who ruled Gandhar when Shakuni is always in Hastinapur? Wasn't he Gandhar-Naresh but did he rule by proxy? Also, why wasn't he kicked out of Hastinapur for causing trouble?

  4. Did Sahadeva ever speak? Is the legend true that he was warned not to open his mouth by Krishna as he can see the future? What was his contribution in the war?

  5. What happened the character Krita-Verma at the end after the defeat of Kauravas?

Thanks in advance!

Write to Women's Commission? ( Can I ask for 15 minutes of your time?)

Dear Indian Women,

I am coming in peace, with love for this country and betterment of society.

As you all know, there is National Commission of Women at Country level and State Commission of Women at the state level for each state you live in.

As you all also know, the active conversation that is happening right now is the objectification and sexualization of women in the Indian movie industry ( degree varies but is there in all woods, tollywood/bolly/kolly). There is also lot of misogyny shown by male actors characterization.

The commission of women actually do have some authority and can also make recommendations to the respective governments. Lets us ask that they should always have a representative sitting in the respective Censor Boards for certifying a movie. They should work with respective governments to prepare a framework, a set of guidelines (do's and don'ts) that must be followed by directors/producers for a movie to be cleared.

This can only happen if you all write letters, sent text messages, make phone calls to the Members and Chairperson of Commission of Women ( both at National level and state level). A quick google search will give you all the information you need. Pass the message to all your female friends not on reddit. Also, they can promote their own political careers by taking the fight onto the streets.

Please do not be pessimistic that nothing will change. We seize this opportunity to voice our discontent and ask for change.

Not to repeat but let us ask for 2 specific things: 1) A set of Guidelines or Framework that all movies must follow in order to clear censor certification, passed by law. 2) At least one representative from Women's commission must be a member of Censor Board at all time to enforce.

Can you please take 15 minutes of your time to make a call, text and write?

-Regards

( Sorry for being a keyboard warrior but we have to start somewhere)

Telangana State Women Commission

Dear People of Telangana,

I love our state and coming in peace with a good intention for improvement.

Can all of you who have access through channels write letters to Telangana State Women Commission to either have a representative sitting in the Censor Board. I know they can make recommendations to State Government on women's issues. Why not put a framework together on how to depict women in the movies? A simple set of guidelines that need to be followed to clear censor certification.

If I was the chairperson of Women Commission, I would use this opportunity to take the fight onto the streets and promote my own career.

Paid Parental Leave

As per NY times, Deloitte and Zoom have cut paid parental leave. Companies are looking at way to cut down on perks. What is the next perk at KPMG that is going away?

I needed to move lift a low hanging existing chandeliar in the dining area to lift the chandeliar up, in order to make room temporarily for a party. I did this by using a "S" hook as shown in the picture. The S hook can handle the weight.

My question is : Is this safe, from the perspective of the currently existing chain and the Top fixture, to make sure it won't snap. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Weight maybe 40lbs?
