Are mustaches really not prep?

The traditional consensus is that Ivy style requires a clean shave. Which is fine if you are a 19 year old college kid who can’t grow one, or work a job with a rigid dress/grooming policy. (Even though most jobs are business casual now)

I like them and I think they can look good with preppy attire, for example, in the J.Press show there were a few models who had mustaches. But more mainstream brands like RL you don’t see any models with a mustache.

Is a stache inherently not preppy?

Also, I am not saying this in a “new prep” context. I’m speaking from a traditionalist point of view.

Saying “Mommy” and “Daddy” is really NOT THAT WEIRD

I feel like as time goes on, the more and more I hear people moaning and groaning about these two words. I am 25, and have been saying mommy and daddy my whole life and have only recently gotten comments about it now.

It’s one thing to go up to your parents and say “hey mommy 🥺🥺🥺”. But I do not know a SOUL that says this. If I’m talking to my brother, I’ll say: “hey do you know where mommy’s car keys are”.

That is not weird, it’s not strange, it’s definitely not sexual. I’m not some adult baby, it’s just a word to call your parents.

I find that the majority of people who hate on this word come from dysfunctional families where the very idea of having any form of endearment towards your parents is foreign. I am sorry if you feel this way but this doesn’t entitle anyone to judge someone for a word. Another aspect is people who think it’s sexual, which I’m not even going to acknowledge because you need to reevaluate if you think people are saying stuff like that in public out of context.

I feel like is coming from a generation of people who had broken families/porn rotted brains and decided that they had to project their issues onto other peoples totally normal conversations.

Edit: I do not exclusively say mommy/daddy, nor do I address them as such. It’s pretty much exclusively used in conversations about them with siblings. Which I think is fine.

Ran into Brendon Babenzien at J. Crew today. Maybe more to him leaving than we thought?

I ran into Brendon Babenzien at the 5th Ave J. Crew today and it was honestly weird enough to make me think there’s more to why he left the company than we think. If any Noah employees in here please feel free to chime in on your opinions of him.

I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, and that it was strange to see him here since it’s been a while since he left the company. I said that I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him or ask for photos or anything.

He looked at me and said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” while snapping his fingers shut in front of my face. I was honestly flustered by this.

I walked away and kept browsing the secret wash shirts and the giant fit chinos he made, I heard him chuckle as I moved down the rack. When I went up to the counter to pay I saw him trying to walk out the door with like fifteen pairs of critter print socks and a Barbour jacket under his arm without paying.

My usually salesperson at the register and he was very nice and professional and said, “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first Brendon pretended to be distracted and not hear him, but eventually turned back and brought them to the counter.

When he picked up one of the socks and started scanning it multiple times, Brendon stopped him and told him to scan each one individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” then turned and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word.

After he scanned each pair and started to say the total, Brendon kept interrupting him by yawning really loudly. He then pulled a bunch of old near empty visa gift cards and tried paying the total with however much was left on each one. Making sure to call the number on the back of each individual card to get the balance before making the cashier charge just for that.

I watched this all happen for about 15-20 minutes. This experience somewhat shocked me. For such a high profile designer/creative to be acting at a company he used to work at? This just felt extremely petty and the salesperson helping him honestly looked like a mess after the interaction.

There must be more than meets the eye with him and his relationship with J. Crew. I definitely think more has happened that we don’t know about yet or has been NDA’d away.

This lox and cream cheese sandwich safe from Russ & Daughters?

Got this pastrami lox sandwich from RD and I usually get the pastrami lox. This was the first time it had an extensive visually brown color? Is this normal I’ve never had one that looked like this.

Hey guys my name is Alper, I am a 25 year old working as a pharmacist in the city. I’ve lived in this apartment already for a year and have thoroughly enjoyed so far. My roommate’s moving out as he got his own place. Im looking a tidy respectful and easy going roommate who is going to value the space of this apt as much as I do. I enjoy going out to dinner with friends, meeting new people, going to the beach, and continuously trying out new parts of the city. I’m big into menswear and thrifting, going to museums, and of course going out in Brooklyn to shows. I need to submit my roommate agreement by tomorrow so if you are interested we need to figure this out today lol. Thanks

Fit check - RRL Vintage 5 Pocket East-West Selvedge Denim

Hi guys just wanted some thoughts on how these jeans fit? These are the RRL Vintage 5 Pocket East-West Selvedge Jeans. My first pair of raw selvedge denim and first RRL piece. (Ralph Lauren’s RRL "East-West" Selvedge Denim (a heavy 15.9oz to 16oz Japanese denim woven in Okayama from Tennessee-grown cotton).

They’re a size 32x32 and I like how they fit now but I’m a little unsure about the length. Not sure if they are too short or just right. Especially since these are supposed to shrink. Pics show how it looks with 2 different boots along with 2 different casual shoes.

Also Im wondering if there’s any mobility moves or checks I should do with these to make sure they’re right lol.

True 2br1ba no flex.

$1325/mo. August 1st move in.

Located in the 70s in the UES. Putting this post out as a feeler as my friend is still unsure if he’s moving to the city and I know this place is a steal. It would be for a 1 year lease. Only con is 6th floor walk up.

I am looking for someone similar in age who I can genuinely be friends with and is down to do stuff as I am an extremely social and outgoing guy. So hopefully you can read the bio and decide if we’d mesh. Here’s a quick bio about myself. I am a straight guy, 24 years old and a pharmacist. I have a full time job in Hudson yards where I go in almost everyday during the week. I enjoy men’s fashion, like to go try new restaurants, and exploring nycs museums. I also enjoy going to the beach and hanging out with friends. Going out in Brooklyn is a ton of fun as well. I’m super relaxed and easygoing in general. (Just a chill guy) If this sounds good with you, and you have a stable source of income, please reach out to me. Thanks

Not the best photos but the ship was so utterly massive. Masts alone were over 100ft.
