The past month I’ve been battling a tonsil infection in only 1 tonsil -now 2. I was prescribed augmentin for a week on the 8th of August for inflammation, exudate and pain in one of the tonsils. I also got a strep test and culture, both came back negative. The urgent care doctor was slightly concerned it may be the start of an abscess, but thankfully things got better after antibiotics
The Augmentin worked in clearing the infection but it came right back 2 weeks later (where I’m at now). Pretty painful, swollen, lots of exudate and swallowing is a chore. They put me on Augmentin again, this time for 10 days. The doctor had mentioned that if it goes away and comes back again after this round - I have to get a referral to an ENT to see why it’s happening over and over.
As of today I’m on day 3 now of the antibiotics and now my other tonsil is inflamed with exudate. I messaged my doctors on Mychart and had to make sure they gave me a referral to an ENT. I’m waiting on my insurance to approve the referral, and I’ll be booking an appointment ASAP. The nurse also mentioned if the infection doesn’t go away in 7 days to be seen by my pcp again. My copays are very expensive and this all is just putting me into really bad medical debt (already owed 3k for previous surgery). It seems like every time I get seen when it’s getting worse and not better they basically say “well if it gets worse then we will do something” it’s just exhausting.

So now that my rant/history is over, is the tonsillectomy worth it? I’ve seen and heard many horror stories about recovery. But the pros are sort of outweighing the cons in my head rn (I’m also in the thick of it between symptoms and side effects of the Augmentin) I always have had tonsil stones as well which is also unpleasant to say the least. I know the ENT is going to ask me if I want them removed, so I ask:
In your experience is the tonsillectomy worth it? Or should I keep these bacterial catching bad boys and stick it out? Any advice truly appreciated! 🥲😪

Messaged my OB on Mychart and haven’t heard back in an hour

I’m experiencing some right sided cramping like pain in my right lower abdomen, maybe right ovary.
I had intercourse this morning and now I’ve been bleeding like I’m on my period but I’m on day 18 of my cycle, technically ovulating. I’m worried because I remember seeing that I had an ovarian cyst on my right ovary on my last ultrasound. So I’m not sure if that’s what’s causing my pain.
I feel fine otherwise, no fever, fatigue and the pain isn’t unbearable at all. But i am experiencing cramps and mild bleeding
I did take a plan b a few weeks ago (August 4th) and I did get my period a week later (first day being August 11th). So I’m not sure if that could also contribute to it
I’m just wondering if this is something I NEED to be seen immediately about or if it’s normal. I don’t have much money to get seen as my copays are expensive
