First long distance drive. ZapMap vs Electroverse

Over the last year or so, I’ve been reading online that ZapMap is the best companion app to use and from what I can see, most of the best features are behind a paywall.
I downloaded Electroverse, planned my route and uploaded it to CarPlay. 300 mile drive and one quick 10 min charge to top up, it was so much easier than I’d imagined. Paying work the RFID card was simple as well.
What’s everyone else using as a companion app?
I’m really tempted to try the free trial on ZapMap but I can’t see what else it offers over the likes of Electroverse

Keyless entry/exit

Hi, I’ve just taken delivery of a brand new ID.5 and I’m trying to get to grips with the above.
Sometimes when I walk away from the car, it locks itself, other times it doesn’t, and when it doesn’t, I press the lock button on key fob several times before the car will lock.
Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

IOG Renault 5 onboarding

Hi,
Previously, we managed to link our charger to IO and charge the car as normal. We then got another car, and we’re having problems getting it to charge, so we removed the charger, linked the other car directly to IO but when we try and link the R5 to IO, I’m getting the error’s on the screenshots below. It happens when we get directed to the Renault Mobilize site as part of the IO set up.
Can anyone suggest a solution?

IOG disable smart charge. VW ID5 question

Hi folks,
I’m still trying in vain to get my new ID5 to charge via IOG with my Hypervolt Home Pro 3 linked to IO. but the car will not take the overnight charge.
Plan B is to disable smart charging in the Octopus App and schedule a charge tonight from 22:30 to 05:30 using the infotainment screen in the car.

When I switch off the car, a menu pops up on the car screen asking if I want the car to charge immediately, or via the schedule set for tonight.
Logic says, you’d pick the schedule for tonight, but if I set it to charge immediately, would it actually start charging if the schedule has been input for the 6 hours overnight?
I’m assuming octopus wasn’t waking the car out of its sleep when attempting to charge in the ‘intelligent’ way, hence toggle the button on the screen to change immediately, but to stop it from sleeping and hopefully it’d change overnight instead?

Confused? Me too, but any help is appreciated!

VW Group cars with IOG

I know this is a common issue, but I’m still struggling to get my 2026 ID5 charged.
Charger is a Hypervolt Home Pro 3, and it’s linked to IOG, not the car.

Got the new car at the weekend and on Saturday and Sunday night, the car didn’t charge as per IOG request.
Tried again last night and noticed an error message on the dashboard along the lines of there is a connection issue, plus a solid red light at the charger flap. The Hypervolt app also said the Hypervolt is ready to charge, but the car is preventing it. This all happened circa 9pm, well before the schedule was due to start.
Went to bed about 1045 and thought I’d leave it to work itself out as I know it can take a few attempts.
The first session was due to start at 1130pm and just after midnight, there was still no charge going into the car.
I then went down to the car, added my home location into the VW charger menu in the car, scheduled a one off charge for the car to be ready by Saturday morning. - the reason I did this, is because when you schedule a charge in the car, you get a button appear that says something along the lines of the car is ready to charge immediately, but this only appears if a charge is scheduled on the car screen. I thought this is what’s needed to get rid of the error message in the Hypervolt app about the car is preventing the charge from starting.
I unplugged the car, connected it again and it charged overnight as requested.
I’m trying to see if anyone knows, did the car finally charge because I scheduled a charge for next Saturday morning as a one off, which in turn, enabled the prompt on the screen saying the car was ready to change immediately.
Or, did the car only charge as I unplugged it and plugged it back in during the schedule overnight?
Plugging it in after 1130pm is a non start for me as I’m in bed normally at that point!

We got our first EV 3 months ago (Renault 5) and had similar issues, but were found out it was a setting in the Renault companion app called Mobilize that had a charge limit of 60% and we couldn’t understand why the car wouldn’t charge properly. Lesson learned, or so we thought!

Can anyone help shed some light on this, it’s so frustrating!

IOG VW ID5 - How do I set up?

Hi folks,
I’m having issues setting this up, my Hypervolt Home 3 Pro is linked to Octopus but I cannot get the car to charge since I got it at the weekend. The Hypervolt app says the car is preventing it from charging.
Is there any setting in the car that I need to change or set up to stop this from happening?
I’ve not set up any schedules in the car or set up a location for charging - should I do this?
It’s driving my crazy, any help is appreciated!

We also have a Renault 5 and had a similar issue, but it was down to a setting in the mobilize companion app that needed changing, so I assume there is a setting inside the VW that I’m not seeing that’ll enable IOG to take control of the charging.

YMW have smashed it out the park 😀

I had one of their cases on my iPhone 14Pro and was surprised with the quality and decided to get one for my 17Pro Max. Couldn’t be happier

VW ID5 charging question

I’ve just taken delivery of a new ID5 and have a question for any VW ID owners.
How do you remove all of the changing schedules built into the car? I’m trying to set up Intelligent Charging with Octopus and suspect there is a charging conflict preventing the smart charging by octopus.

IOG charging issue with VW ID5

Hi folks, we have a Renault 5, and after some teasing issues, we finally got IOG to work.
We’ve now got an additional car (VW ID.5) with the 77kWh battery and our charger is the Hypervolt Home Pro3.
The charger is linked to IOG and we’ve re-installed it allowing for the bigger VW battery.
2 night’s on the route row, the car had failed to charge. On the first night, it charged for half an hour almost straight away (before the 11pm IOG window) and then never charged at all.
Next night, I turned off smart charging and then tried to schedule via the car, in the cheap time window, but after about an hour at circa 9pm (not charging at this point) it asked for the cable to be connected, but it was?!?
I then cancelled this idea, went back with smart charging, but it never took a charge at all again!
I’m at a loss as what to do - can anyone assist?

IOG with 2 cars - advice needed

Hi, our charger is linked to IOG (not the car) and IOG was set up based on our Renault 5’s 52kWh battery. We’re getting an additional car next week (VW ID5 with 77 kWh battery)

We want to continue using the smart charging facility, but how do I calculate what charge is required in the VW with the 77kWh battery, if Octopus have the Renault with the 52 kWh linked?
I know I can disable smart charging, but I just wondered if there is a calculation I can use to differentiate between the 2 car batteries if that makes sense?

I assume if I was at 30% and wanted 80% then I’d ask for 50% but from what I can see, Octopus is basing this on the smaller battery in the Renault, and not the VW.

Surely I can’t be the only person who’s had this issue?

Thanks in advance

Charger linked to IOG. 2nd EV about to arrive

Hi folks,
We’ve had a Renault 5 EV for a couple of months and our new VW ID5 arrives next week, we’re still keeping the R5. As our Hypervolt Home 3 Pro is linked to IOG and the car isn’t - do I just plug in the charger into to the VW and it’ll work, or do I need to speak to Octopus and do they need to do anything?

Battery life when lid is closed

Hi, if I close the lid on my Neo and come back to it 20 hours later, is it normal for the battery to drain 18% in that time?

I assumed the battery drain would have been a fraction of that?

Ordered mine from EE in the UK

Hi folks, these are sold out just about everywhere, but the phone carrier EE has them, so I ordered one from them an hour ago.
Silly question, but this will be the exact same device that Apple sell i.e no carrier software installed etc like you can sometimes get on a phone when ordered from a carrier if that makes sense?

We’ve had the above for a couple of months and having major issues with charging schedules.
The charger is linked to IOG, not the car.
We’ve constantly had issues with the car only part charging or not charging at all, we’ve asked for 100% charge a couple of times and the most we’ve got is 81% despite the car already having 50% to start with for instance.
The car went into Renault last week for the software update to fix this known issue with IOG and last night the car was at 20% battery, so we asked for 100% as we have a long drive today. You guessed it - 81% charge is all we got again!
The car’s battery display on the dashboard and Renault app was set to charge to 100% so I don’t know what’s going on. Is there a setting I’m missing somewhere?
I had a notification from Octopus on my phone this morning saying ‘we were unable to control your device’ and we always get this.
It seems to be that the car only charges with some of the time schedules set during the night for each charge by Octopus from what I can see?

It’s driving me insane!
