Anyone from Indonesia here?

My audio analyzer app SpectralScan has really trended in Indonesia recently even though I have not even localized for Indonesian market.

I would like to know if it has been mentioned in some channel or so in Indonesia or what it could be that drives downloads

Screenshots show in desktop app store but not on ios search for my app. What controls this?

My app (audio spectrum analyzer, live since April) shows the full screenshot preview card when searching in app store on desktop in browser, but ios search results it only appears as a compact row with icon, name, rating, no screenshots. Most other apps show full screenshots.

Things I've checked:

- The listing looks fine on the product page itself, this is only about search results

- No app preview video, plain screenshots only

Is it more difficult to get preview screenshot on phone, or what could it be?

Same app, same marketing. Android took off, ios didn't. What's the app store secret?

A few weeks ago android installs pulling ahead of ios for my audio analyzer app SpectralScan even though I would have expected more audio interested people to use ios in general.

I had same marketing on both channels so probably just google play algorithm differences or reaching some thresholds for ratings there. The gap has widened since, but at least the ios decline seems to have stopped, after trying to reach more apple based subreddits so that's something.

One thing that keeps bugging me: getting ratings on ios feels way harder than android. Have you noticed a similar pattern? Also curious what's actually worked for people to grow ios installs specifically, ASO tweaks, Apple Search Ads, specific communities? Google Play feels like it rewards localization and has some kind of discovery algorithm working for me, but the App Store feels more opaque. Would love to hear what's moved the needle for others.

Cleaning staff showed up mid-afternoon, couldn't resist checking the vacuum noise with my app

The profile is mostly broadband noise as expected, but there's one notably strong peak sitting just under 500 Hz that stands out. My guess is it's a structural resonance of the housing rather than the motor fundamental. Would be interesting to tape some damping material to the housing and see if it shifts or disappears.

Check out my app SpectralScan if you want, a real-time RTA app I've been building for iphone and android. What's the most unexpected peak you've found measuring random stuff in your workshop or listening room?

What happened to my app on app store?

I've had same marketing for ios and android, and similar number of users. Suddenly android version started to trend upwards while ios version trends down. I guess my next move needs to be focusing on ios promotion while letting the android version grow organically.

Is ios marketing harder than android?

My app has spiked on android but staying on same level for ios. Not sure if it could be that some rating threshold or something was reached on android, all else in my marketing are same for both platforms. Have you noticed similar trends or could it just be random?

My niche audio app got 140 Android installs yesterday with no marketing while iOS stayed flat at 15. Trying to figure out why and how to replicate on app store

I launched SpectralScan, a mobile spectrum analyser for measuring rooms and speakers a few months ago. Free with one-time Pro IAP on iOS and Android.

Yesterday Android spiked to ~140 installs (10x normal) while iOS stayed completely flat. No marketing, no Reddit post, nothing I did differently. Not sure if it was mentioned somewhere, but then it would have got more app store downloads as well, right?

Has anyone seen a platform-specific spike like this? And any tips for closing the iOS gap would be appreciated.

I got tired of expensive / subscription audio measurement apps so I built my own

I'm an audio nerd and couldn't find a mobile RTA that didn't cost money or bombard me with ads so I built SpectralScan.

What it does:

  • Useful for room acoustics, noice, speaker placement, and loudspeaker measurement
  • Real-time FFT spectrum analyzer and RTA
  • Frequency detection

Free with no ads. Pro IAP unlocks additional features.

What will happen to the SaaS app market

It feels like there are so many people tired of SaaS models. I've seen a lot of apps coded with help of AI or totally vibe coded that are similar to existing apps but one time purchase as many got tired of subscriptions.

What do you think will happen, will all these new apps make SaaS less profitable as there are so many more alternatives?

My audio analyzer app SpectralScan recently got a bump

I recently made a reddit a post with quite much attention which gave my app a bump, but then I started getting less new users again.

Not sure what to do next, seems users like the app but it has been hard to know what kind of posts and marketing that actually making people find the app.

What are your best tips for a niche app? Are there any magic level of number of downloads/reviews/ratings or so getting higher ranked in searches, or does the app just need time in play store?

Aphex Twin in SpectralScan

A user just sent me this spectrogram of an Aphex Twin song, you can clearly make out the face encoded into the audio. Cool to see it instead of just hear it.

The app that captured it is SpectralScan, an audio analyzer app I've made.

Free version available on Android and iOS if you want to go digging through your own music library or just want to analyse your sound system.

My setup around $300

I searched for a while when buying new speakers, not too expensive because kids and so on. I finally went for Edifier R2750DB as they were not too bulky and the price ~$300 was right for me. Out of the box they sounded better than expected for the price and I like active speakers as less equipment needed.

I have quickly measured with SpectralScan, an app that I have made for ios and android. I found a sharp peak ~70 hz and a dip ~110 hz.

Next steps for me would be using REW to design some filter to flatten it out a bit. Will run the filters on a raspberry pi with some DSP tool. Probably CamillaDSP as it is a good tool for runing both FIR and IIR filters.

What do you think about my app store images and what to improve?

I have not worked much putting things on app store before but I tried to make the app images clear and self explaining about the different modes in my audio analyzer app.

My audio analyzer app SpectralScan had a jump early but seems to flatten out now on google play even after optimizing search words / descriptions etc. Is it expected (like getting a boost for new released apps), or how to know if I have done something in wrong way? It has been more successful on app store than google play after similar updates.

So far I have:

- Updated app name to include Audio Analyzer

- Updated feature graphics

- Posted info about updates in forums / reddit

Here is a link if you want to check out the app btw: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.otsukare.spectralscan
