Confused after returning to school in the era of AI

I finished my undergrad just before AI started to take off and now I’m attending UNC for grad school. It’s my second semester now and I’m still blown away by how much AI has changed school. It’s definetely affecting my education as well, both positively and negatively.

I can’t seem to gauge what the right use of AI is anymore, so I’ve just stopped bringing my laptop to class, stopped using it for writing, and only for research now.

In the courses I’m taking, I see my peers using it across the book. Professors have mixed policy usage, some really lax and some banning it. But I have seen these in every course:

- Group discussions have become “repeat what AI told me”
- Proofreading has become “regenerate until it seems right”
- Brainstorming has become prompting for “20 ideas”
- I have sat down in group sessions where other students won’t talk without AI assisting them

I seriously question what this will do to critical thinking skills for incoming generations. Maybe we just have to adapt, or maybe I’m just becoming an unc. I’m unsure what to think of it all, so I will continue to do what’s working for me and adapt as it comes.

K&W Cafeteria: Where can I find Jello like they made it?

Feeling a bit nostalgic tonight. I just remember they had the best jello.

Are there any restaurants that can match their jello energy?

Manteo - Duck, last minute changed plans

We were planning to walk the beach into the late night around Coquina/Pea Island, but the bugs were so bad we had to change our plans. So we are looking for something to do after 9:00pm. Any recommendations?

We don’t drink, so rather avoid a bar.

Game Suggestions: Fortress Mode & Naval Posts

New Game Mode: Fortress
In this game mode, defense posts would receive two additional boosts on top of their current effects:
- 2x–5x damage multiplier
- 1.5x–5x range multiplier

Naval Posts
- Can only be built within a certain range of a port you own
- Works like a defense post, but fires like a warship and slows ships within its range
- Cost and range equivalent to a SAM
- Prevents enemy trade from crossing its radius (unless allied)
- Does not capture trade
- Can be targeted and destroyed by warships

Things to do between Manteo and Duck?

Traveling to the OBX in a couple weeks and narrowed down where we will be staying. What are some attractions or amenities in the area you recommend?

Planning a quiet and relaxed trip to OBX

Planning a quiet, relaxed trip to the Outer Banks.

We'd like to spend most of our time enjoying:
• Great seafood and local restaurants
• Food tours or tastings
• Farmers markets or local fairs
• Boat tours or ferry rides
• Wildlife viewing
• State parks, wildlife refuges, and nature trails
• Interesting monuments or historic sites

We're not looking for nightlife or big crowds. We'd rather enjoy the scenery, nature, and local culture.

Which towns would you recommend staying in? Are there any areas you'd avoid if the goal is a peaceful vacation? We'd also love recommendations for restaurants, boat tours, hidden gems, or anything else that's a must-do.

Surf Fishing off the Ocracoke Inlet

I picked up surf fishing last year and haven’t had much luck with it. I’ve been use a pyramid sinker with shrimp as bait, but no luck.

I was recommended to use squid next time.

Anyways, I usually fish out on Portsmouth island. Any tips?

Personal Strategy: Floating Bank

The idea is simple, other then your opener, never go below the cost of your most expensive unit in your bank.

Why?
Countering. Always holding the ability to counter what your opponent does.

When it’s looking bleak or you see your enemy summoned a 300 cost SH tank? Counter it with a tank, atgm plane, whatever works best for you
