The inner struggle
(that applies to both male and female characters btw)
The Emperor/Empress will aurafarm for most of the story but there will be consequences at the end
I remember a while back someone said the guys should read the Horus Heresy books (sorry can't remember who it was) and this gave me an idea
Character design of my Child of Gaia, haven't decided what to name him yet
thoughts?
Eurocentric Worldbuilding : competitive racism edition
Disclaimer : I do not support racism, the point of this meme is to make fun of stereotypes not endorse them
Made a Corax (Were-crow) transformation silly animatic concept thingy
Yes I know that Corax in Crinos form canonically have their wings on their arms rather than angel-like wings on their back, but the visual of the wings being ripped from the arms as they separate was too cool to me to not do it
Hot take : we need more representation of the IRL Wolf - Raven alliance in Werewolf media
Since corvids are such a staple of the Gothic Aesthetic that Werewolves are often a part of I think it would fit well
I finally got around to listening to Happy Appy, while doing so I made Forenzik in Hero Forge
Reminder that obeying unjust laws is domesticated behaviour
(Headcanons) Garou tribe comperative mythology
So I had the idea that different Garou Tribes have different flavors of the same Gaia religion, not just in their practices but also their lore and how they interpret the history of their species, here is my ideas for how that works
Children of Gaia :
Gaia is primarily a Loving and Merciful Goddess. When Humans started to get closer to the Weaver rather than the Wyld, She didn't forsake them or hate them, the Weaver is one of Her aspects. She brought forth the Fera to be conduits between human and beast, Weaver and Wyld and to maintain balance. The Impergium was an act of treason against Her and it is what made the Weaver and Wyrm mad. Gaia personally intervened and founded the Children of Gaia Tribe to stop it. Even now, Gaia wants balance, human civilization is destroying nature but that doesn't mean that Gaia or even the Wyld wants nature to destroy human civilization. The Children of Gaia must not despair or give up their ideals, no matter how dark the world is they must always fight for coexistence. When the Garou oppressed Humans, it was right to help the Humans. When the Humans oppress Wolves, it is right to help the Wolves. That is the path of the Children of Gaia and it applies to conflict between species but also internally within Garou and Human societies.
Red Talons :
The only aspect of Gaia that is still sane and loyal to the Mother is the Wyld. The Weaver was the first to betray Her and corrupt a weak, cowardly, cruel and greedy species of apes. The Weaver promised them that in exchange for giving up their connection to the Wyld, they would be granted the power to enslave all of nature. The Weaver also strung up the Wyrm to use as a weapon. Wolves were the first animal that stood bravely against the humans' expansion but the aid of the Weaver gave the apes an unfair advantage, the Wolves fought well but kept losing until Gaia blessed their champions to become the first Garou. The tides turned with the Garou on the side of the Wolves and victory seemed finally close but some Garou mingled with the apes, betraying their kin and Mother, stealing Gaia's sacred gift and giving it to humans, thus beginning the usurper Homid breed. For Balance to be restored, Humanity needs to be vastly reduced in numbers to ensure the safety of all other life.
Silver Fangs :
Gaia ordained the Silver Fangs to lead a united Garou Nation. The Impergium was not the Silver Fangs' idea, and maybe they should have curtailed the more extreme elements of their Confederation, but this does not justify what followed. The so-called Children of Gaia believed Mother wanted them to supplant the Silver Fangs as leaders of the Garou, so they revolted. The Silver Fangs were ready to face this challenge but they were backstabbed by an uprising of resentful bone gnawers that dared call themselves a Tribe. Other traitors followed these ringleaders and war broke out. After many years fighting an honorless foe while outnumbered, the Silver Fangs conceded to some of the rebels' demands. The Children of Gaia and Bone Gnawers were undeservedly acknowledged as equal Garou Tribes and the Impergium ended. The Confederation was replaced with a loose treaty called the Concord. Ever since the Garou Tribes are independent and weaker for it. Only restoring the rightful rule of the Silver Fangs will fix things.
Black Spiral Dancers :
The Impergium was a foolish war between wolves and men, Wyld and Weaver. The Garou were caught in the middle and so was the Wyrm, which alone remained loyal to its duty while the Wyld and Weaver wanted to use it as a weapon in their war. In that sense that Wyrm and the Garou are kindred spirits. The other Garou are blind, projecting their own views onto Gaia, The Lupus value the lives of wolves so they imagine Gaia values those lives, the Homid value the lives of humans and so they imagine Gaia values those lives; She doesn't. The Wyrm is the strongest of the three aspects and Garou were born to be its servants. When a Spiral Dancer rids themselves of all their attachments and instincts, they will also overcome the Rage. When the Wyrm eats the Weaver and Wyld, when nature and civilization both die, then the Wyrm and Gaia will be one and the same and She will be truly at peace. The Garou are to usher in this change and their reward is that while the Apocalypse happens, they are destined to revel in the chaos, but they too are to die when it's over.
Black Furies :
Humans once worshipped Gaia, the Divine Feminine, but a usurper war god known as the Sky Father, swayed some male humans to his worship. His cultists took over their societies, made women slaves and conquered their neighbours. The Impergium started as an intervention to destroy not human civilization as a whole, only that aggressive Patriarchal sect that was spreading across Eurasia. This purpose was corrupted by the Get of Fenris who begun adopting the ways of the Sky Father's followers despite outwardly praying to Gaia. The Children of Gaia had a point in objecting, they acted on Mother's compassion, but they overcorrected and forsook Mother's wrath, instead of restoring the war's original cause, they chose pacifism and tried to soften the Sky Father Cult with words. Left unchecked, the system that sees living things as property of a few powerful men, took over the world ravaging humanity and nature. Those servants of the Wyrm and the Father only answer to force and Garou have the strength to push them off, for the shake of all their victims.
Bone Gnawers :
Wild wolves are not led by the strongest. It was folly for the Silver Fangs to place their Tribe atop the Garou Nation. They built a tyranny with the Get of Fenris as its warrior caste and enforcers and the Shadowlords as the middle management. And their rule brought the most dishonorable chapter in Garou history, but like all tyrannies it eventually fell. It was the wide eyed Children of Gaia that lit the spark of rebellion, but the Bone Gnawers were the ones to ignite the fire and ever since the two Tribes have a respect for each other. Oppression is the same in humans, Garou, Fera, Vampires, any species. It often happens in the name of the Weaver but it can also happen in the name of the Wyld, it can even happen in the name of freedom or in the name of Gaia Herself, and regardless of whose name it happens in, oppression always serves the Wyrm and it must always be fought. And in that struggle, the downtrodden and oppressed are allies regardless of species. There's no war between humanity and nature, there's a war between rulers and ruled.
Get of Fenris :
It was other Tribes that called for the Impergium, the Silver Fangs listened to them and ordered the Get of Fenris to do the dirty work and fight because that was their duty as the warriors of the Garou Nation, -and for that service they were branded as monsters by their own kin, both the traitors who joined the Children of Gaia in rebellion and the loyalists who used the Get of Fenris as a scapegoat. When the war was over and with it ended the Confederation of Tribes, the Get of Fenris went their own way, never again will their honor be tarnished by obedience to the decisions of others. During the Impergium the warriors of Fenris developed a level of respect for the bravery of humans. A type of respect that the Wardens of Apes or the Children of Gaia could never know, the respect a soldier can have for their enemy. And one of those human cultures, one of warlike raiders that at the time were migrating from the steppes into the forests of Europe, seemed to live by Gaia's harsh rules of survival, the Get of Fenris could find a new home among them.
Glass Walkers :
Humans were never enemies of Gaia, neither is the Weaver. A human city is no more of an infection than a termite mount or a spiderweb and a beaver dam. Off course aspects of it can be destructive and should be curtailed but to slaughter humans is not a mere callous calculation of sacrificing one species to save many others from extinction, it is acting against the Garou's own nature, for every Garou, even a Lupus Red Talon, has human blood. To reject this human side is to repress one's own soul. The Wardens of Apes opposed the Impergium from the beginning. And fought against it long before the Children of Gaia were a thing. If that was betrayal, would it also be betrayal if the Red Talons opposed the massacre of wolves? If a Garou's desire to run wild in the forest and hunt with a pack of wolves and howl is a noble and pure expression of their freedom, so is the desire to make art, to bond with human friends and family, to wear clothes, even to use technology. To find beauty in the human world is not a sin it is a manifestation of the Garou's authentic nature as a dual being.
These are the Tribes I've thought about so far in regards to this, feedback is welcome
