A +1 sang at the reception, uninvited

I attended a wedding with my dad for a friend of his from high school. During the reception, this guy - who wasn't even invited; he was a +1 - goes up to the DJ and asks if he takes requests. The DJ affirms, and this guy asks for the microphone. The DJ obediently hands it over, which, in hindsight, I'm absolutely shocked about. This guy proceeds to sing a song (don't remember what) for the flabbergasted crowd for probably a good 2-3 minutes. And nobody steps in. The guy then happily hands the microphone back to the DJ and walks off on his merry way, with 0 awareness about what he just did. Total confidence that his actions were normal and unremarkable.

It was me. In my defense, I was 4.

Edit: clarity

TW: ED. Lost both my jobs in the midst of my worst relapse of disordered eating. Now stuck in a cycle of multiple days of high res followed by getting high and binging. Pictured is 3 servings of ice cream + a cosmic brownie

A little over 200cals each of cookies & creme, cookie dough, and salted caramel ice creams + 1x 270cal cosmic brownie. Total ~900cals

Got a bit done today!

Washed almost all my dirty laundry (missed a few socks that were lying around, but that's whatevs) and put away about half of it!!! Laundry in my apartment is expensive, so I hung up the other half to dry until tomorrow. Today I also put away what was still out from the last time I did laundry.

Cleared out my entry hallway and moved shoes I abandoned in other rooms to the shoe rack.

Did 4 small loads of dishes, the 4th of which is from making my food today(!!!) and dried & put away 3 of the loads. I'm leaving the last to airdry overnight.

Replaced the filter on my kitchen faucet .

Cleared the trash off my coffee table (it's still cluttered woth non-trash items, but it's progress, regardless.)

Deep-cleaned my retainers.

I also made a simple habit-tracker on a piece of graph paper, since I usually have a hard time remembering when I last did different things.

I found a cockroach

I got home at like 9pm yesterday and found it crawling up the bathroom wall.

I have hit multiple new lows in various areas of my life in the past month, but this is definitely one of the worst. I had convinced myself that while my place is *bad*, it isn't *that* bad (as in, no pests aside from occasional gnats if I forget about a banana for too long or whatever.) But, clearly, I was wrong.

I know I need to get my apartment unfucked ASAP to mitigate any infestation, especially since I don't want to cause problems for my neighbors, but I am overwhelmed (what else is new in this sub, lol.)

I know I have too many possessions and I need to get rid of a lot. I know I have some hoarding tendencies, especially with food. I know this is not helping the situation. But I currently don't have a regular source of income, so getting rid of things is even more difficult than usual.

I think I'm gonna do a small load of dishes and set them aside to air-dry while I figure out my next course of action.

Later, I'll go to Walmart +/- Dollar Tree and get some roach traps and a couple pool noodles (to prevent my cats from being able to reach the traps under the stove and some furniture). Damage control.

I have most of a Costco box of normal trash bags, and a small box of heavy duty bags. I have assorted cleaning supplies and a bunch of disposable gloves. I have 1 pair of reusable gloves that go halfway up my forearms, but I'm gonna use those for dishes. Maybe when I go to the store later I'll get a couple more pairs for the grosser parts of general & deep cleaning. Then again, I don't need to be bringing more items into my apartment.

Okay. I can do this. I will get this figured out.

Edit: Boutta sweep the cat toys out from under my stove and hope to god there are no cockroaches under there. Wish me luck.

Edit 2: There were no cockroaches under the stove! I have yet to see any evidence of them while cleaning (thank fuck.) Off to buy traps now

Edit 3: Traps & pool noodles have been placed and I am going to bed. Gonna continue dishes tomorrow, and also pull out my fridge to clean & place a trap under. I need to go through my pantry and the storage bins of food I have and get rid of a lot of it, but that's gonna be the hardest part. I should probably see a therapist once the money's there. Goodnight!

IIL Miniminuteman, Fascinating Horror, Fascinating History, A Brush with Bekah, Plainly Difficult, and Brew, WEWIL?

I know that list is a little eclectic. I really like informational youtube videos & podcasts. I like to listen to people who know a lot about a subject/event talk about it. They don't necessarily have to be about historical events or disasters or morbid topics - I actually kinda wanna branch out more on subject matter. I'm mostly looking for something I can play in the background for an hour while doing other stuff, and come out of it knowing more about some topic or other.

Any and all suggestions are much appreciated!

Knee pads?

I'm getting to a point where kneeling hurts my knees if i'm not careful about the position, and y'all know as well as I do that there's a lot of kneeling and I can't be careful. I'm thinking about getting knee pads, but not really sure what to get. I think ones that are low profile and can go under my scrubs would probably be best, but idk. Figured I'd ask here.

Has anyone else gotten kneepads and has any recommendations?

It sucks so bad when an owner's expectations & perception don't line up with the actual severity

I've had this happen several times, most recent being yesterday.

She woke up and her cat was dragging her hind legs and crying. When I got her out of the carrier, her hind legs were limp and cold, and she was crying in pain. I checked her rectal temp - it was like 92F. Saddle thrombus. I didn't say it. The owner was talking in a light voice. She was asking about trying Solensia and about scheduling her cat's vaccine appointment before she leaves. She thought it was something... not *mild*, but fixable. She wanted me to get an x-ray. I said we'll wait for the doctor. She thought we'd take the x-ray, Rx some pain meds, and she'd be on her way back home. I knew her cat would not survive the day. I didn't tell her

Fuck

Part of my drive to work takes me on a one-way street, and I noticed this past week that there was a fence that had been painted sunflower yellow. The next day there was a big smiley face and a very thin outline of a minion. Since then, I've seen 3 smaller smiley faces added, a 2nd minion, and the 1st minion has gotten a thicker outline and a light yellow fill.

I've never gone past when it's being worked on, and my drive home takes me on a one-way in the other direction, so I only see the changes in the morning. It's been a nice little addition to my morning commute, and I've found myself looking forward to seeing what's been added each day. I'm excited to see where it's going :)
