I built a free Mac slideshow app using Apple's Reframe model to turn single photos into moving Gaussian scenes

I'm the developer of Spatial Slideshow, a free Mac app that uses the Reframe model installed with Apple Photos to reconstruct a Gaussian scene from an ordinary photo, then move the camera through it.

I wanted to watch whole photo albums with depth and motion without building a video timeline. You pick an album and press Play; the app prepares more photos in the background and caches the results across launches.

Version 0.9.0 adds realtime rendering of the cached scenes. You can change the camera movement without rendering another movie, or pause and explore the viewpoint with a mouse, trackpad or WASD. It also has fades, shuffle, local music and a macOS screen saver.

This uses Apple's Photos Reframe model and Gaussian renderer. The camera stays near the source view: a single photo can't supply an accurate full 3D scan, and larger movements can reveal reconstruction artifacts.

Requires Apple Silicon, macOS 27 and compatible Photos Reframe assets. The app is free and its source is MIT-licensed; Apple's frameworks and model weights remain proprietary system dependencies. It uses private APIs, so OS updates may require compatibility fixes.

Source and architecture · Signed and notarized 0.9.0 download

I'd be interested in feedback on the camera paths, particularly where the motion starts revealing too much missing geometry.

Flatout VR Out Now! Our First Flat2VR Spark Title!

Our very first Flat2VR Spark is live and on sale! Even in EA, Gamertag and others have called it their Game of the Year candidate.

LOTS of love has been poured out in this game already, adding a ton of features like DLSS, full steering wheel support, motion controls, updated graphics, updated engine, updated literally everything.  Working with legendary modder mutar was a blast and really shows what we can do with a lot of passion and the source code to games. If this does well, we really hope it opens the door to doing a ton more amazing games officially, giving them proper VR support.

Please help support us by grabbing a copy here:  https://store.steampowered.com/app/3844750/FlatOut_4_Total_Insanity_VR/ and let us know if you have any feedback (trying to test every steering wheel we can right now adding support, so definitely let us know if you have any feedback!)
