my first piece! ✨

finally finished my first piece i’ve been working on during a stained glass class!

finished on week 5, each class is 2hrs, i feel like we all are going super slow lol. but hopefully the second project goes quicker. i ended up having to recut a few pieces after i ground too much off, grinding is for sure my least favorite part. and somehow i thought they all fit together but after i foiled i realized there were so many gaps! so the pieces definitely don’t fit super well together and the edges are uneven.

soldering was so much fun but more difficult than i expected after watching tons of tiktoks where creators do it perfectly. but i felt like an alchemist haha!

all in all, definitely way more difficult than i was expecting, and my piece is definitely janky, but i absolutely loved working on it! :)

help with connecting sd card reader to m5 stickC plus 1

so i am an absolute beginner in hardware/code/all of it and have been building this mainly through ai/reddit.

i’m using an m5 stickc plus 1. the top GND and G26 ports are connected to an IoT relay. the bottom 4 prongs are connected to wires going to a circuit board that came with my JSN-SR04T waterproof ultrasonic sensor. sensor is plugged into that board.

i’m essentially creating a proximity based misting system that turns on when something approaches the sensor. i want to save the data of when it triggers, for how long, etc. the sd card adapters look like they need all the top holes in the m5, but 2 of them are already in use so i can connect it to the relay. can i still connect an sd card? do i need a bread board of some sort?

if someone could dumb this down for me i would appreciate it greatly 👍

first attempt at handling 🫡

got this 7 year old yate girl 2 weeks ago and tried handling her for the first time today! (that is banana on her face btw) made my boyfriend do it since i’m nervous and didn’t want her to feel my weird energy and get more spooked.

took her out on the cork she was on in her tank, she huffed a little but nothing crazy. we didn’t know what to do so we just sat there hovering the cork. i got her some banana and she immediately started devouring it which felt like a good sign! a few min later she decided to jump off and run across the floor, so my boyfriend yoinked her and put her back in her enclosure quickly (i didn’t have time to tell him he should have just tried handling her a bit until she calmed down) but oh well! i think it went decently well regardless :D

hope i can grow some balls and handle her myself in a few days

surprise scorpling advice?

so i’ve had my southern devil / southern unstriped / vaejovis carolinianus scorpion since last october. found in a cabin in the mountains and the people i was with wanted to kill it so i took it home (i know i probably should have just let her back outside..but too late)

just checked on her and bam! she has 2(?) scorplings on her back! should i just keep care as normal and wait until the get off her back to separate? i’m worried i won’t be able to find them because they’re so tiny! she’s only about an inch

my new leachie, lychee 🫶

caught my new yate girl drinking last night!

so excited for her to settle in so i can try handling. so far she’s been pretty skittish, after this pic she saw my shadow and jumped down so quickly lol. any handling tips for a *possibly* nervous leachie? she’s 7 ish years old. planning on adding more plants + horizontal branches.

socializing feral: week 4

hey guys!

just wanted to share progress with taking in and attempting to socialize a feral. we had been feeding him for over a month before we trapped him. he’s in a jack and jill type bathroom so it’s a little bigger than a normal bathroom, he has toys, 2 hides, litter box, etc.

we’ve been sitting with him for 5-10 min a day, now he’ll completely go on our laps if we lure him with churu, and a few days ago he started playing with a toy from us! super exciting, he plays alone at night (we watch on ring) but he finally started playing with us. he’ll still hiss if we enter the room too quick/do a fast motion, and he won’t let us pet him yet.

is this normal progress? should we be doing anything different? thanks!

tank showoff / advice welcome!

i rescued my boy a few weeks ago, he had been living in a 10g with no overhead heating for 8 years 🙃

i moved him into a 20g long and quickly realized it was way too small! got a used 40g off marketplace, added a custom background, and finished up his enclosure today.

all advice welcome! i may need to add more substrate to get that basking spot hotter, but the current temp isn’t accurate as i had just turned on the heat. i’ll also add a lil calcium bowl and a humid hide in the middle. also planning to get uvb. anything else?

odd tarantula potential death position

hi guys, i just found my adult female a. germani like this and i’m assuming she has died, unless she’s molting, but it doesn’t quite look like that to me?

she was active earlier today. can arboreals molt awkwardly on the glass like this, was this a failed molt, or something else? it looks like her abdomen separated but i can’t tell. she has a full water dish and the substrate is slightly damp.

really not sure what happened :(

(last 2 pics are what they came in)

hey guys, i just picked up a 6-8 year old gecko who had been living in a 10g with 1 hide and a heat mat, being fed 4 ish mealworms twice a week (all they would eat). i put them into a 20g long w a basking lamp for the time being (so i can monitor them initially) before they’ll go in a 40g. i don’t see balls, so maybe they’re a gal?

do they look healthy? is there anything i should look out for? they’ve been nonstop exploring the enclosure since i’ve put them in, climbing on everything, which i hope is a good sign. they have some stuck shed but i have some moist moss in one area and overall i think the tank is much more humid than what they’d been in. i have snakes and a blue tongue skink but have never had a leo.

any advice welcome! 🩷

▲ 4 r/pothos+1 crossposts

this pothos is stressing me OUT. i got her about a month ago from someone who took amazing care of her and i put her in an extremely dark north window sill; the area outside is super forested so she did not get much light at all. seemed to be doing okay, a few yellow leaves appeared which i snipped, as well as a lot of variegation.

i moved her downstairs next to a south, almost southwest window that *does* get light and i’m not sure if i shocked her? definitely way more yellow leaves have been appearing which i’ve been removing. i know it would be better to put her a few feet away but i don’t really have anywhere to put her bc the layout of my house is odd.

TLDR: keep her by the window and let her adjust at the cost of losing a lot of leaves, or move her back a few feet and risk her having to adjust to a new location for the 4th time in a month?
