Would people in India (specifically Bangalore) be interested in a modern emo/rock/metal DJ club night? What do you think the challenges in starting one would be?

I have spent the last 6 years in Europe and something that's really popular in spaces here (especially in the UK) is emo nights (umbrella term for anything from Blink-182/Green Day/MCR/Foo Fighters to Bring Me The Horizon/Bad Omens/Motionless in White/Sleep Token). These nights are the only club nights I like going to over here - they're incredible for finding a community of people who like the same music I do and just exist on the dancefloor and move how you want to to the music that matters to you. I've never been to Bangkok but I know it's also a thing that happens there, so I was wondering whether it could/why it couldn't be a thing in Bangalore. I haven't been to India in years so I don't really know but there's a chance I might be atleast for a bit next year so I'd love to looking into starting one.

CMV: Even the most progressive voices on immigration must admit there is a conversation to be had surrounding the integration of immigrants, particularly surrounding how to safeguard the rights of minorities like gay people.

I believe that every country on the world should be more welcoming to migration. This is NOT what I am here to debate. If you attempt to change my mind on immigration being a good thing, you WILL be ignored. I'm writing this post for other people who are pro-migrant to have a conversation about integration.

More reflexivity about my background in case it's relevant to the conversation: I am an immigrant to the West myself but I consider myself VERY westernised, I'm probably more progressive on immigration issues or the rights of minorities and marginalized groups than most people I know even on the left in the countries I have lived in. With that said, here's some polls I'd like to start by presenting:

Exhibit A: SFI (a language class to learn Swedish intended for immigrants to student) have found in a survey that around half of its students believe that homosexuality is unacceptable.

Exhibit B: British survey finds that majority of Muslims in Britain think that homosexuality ought to be illegal (granted this is a 2016 survey and I'd like to hope that times have changed).

Exhibit C: Survey of six European countries found that two thirds of Muslims say that religious rules are more important to them than the rules of the country they live in. The same study also found that almost 60 percent of the Muslim respondents reject homosexuals as friends; 45 percent think that Jews cannot be trusted; and an equally large group believes that the West is out to destroy Islam. Granted this is an even older survey and once again I'd like to hope times have changed.

My intention in presenting these opinion polls isnt really to say Muslims bad or anything but to argue that there's more we need to do to safeguard the rights of minorities, which are very hard won, so that we don't regress back into the 1900s as these groups gain representative power. I don't have the answers for what this action would look like but my argument is that there should be some conversation, some action, even amongst the most progressive.

23 M4F Europe (online is ok too but I do plan on staying in Europe long term)

Long time lurker but I'm posting for the first time because I guess I've become a lot more confident in myself lately after thinking I had given up on love for a few years lol. Also I'm not posting a picture because I don't want to doxx myself and avoid potentially awkward conversations irl but I'm very happy to share a picture in the chat. Gonna yap about myself for a bit here and then leave a TLDR .

The most important thing in my life is the rock and metal music I listen to and it's very important that anyone I date is also into that music. It doesn't have to be the only thing you listen to (although it is pretty much the only thing I listen to) but if me blasting metal a lot isn't something you're into the idea of, we probably aren't compatible. I also love love love going to concerts and I would love to be able to do this with a potential lover. Other stuff I'm really into are football (one football team in specific actually and I am still riding the high that we won the league for the first time since I gained sentience), tattoos story driven video games, movies, TV, etc. Oh and speaking of tattoos, I do find them very attractive on other people too but obviously it's not a deal-breaker if you don't have any.

I study at a university in Sweden even though I'm not originally from here but my long term plan is to get into a career in academia around law and human rights. I have a lot of really strong political takes - I am very left leaning for the most part and I have some takes that a lot of people would find *unconventional* to say the least. I am theoretically open to dating someone who is right leaning but my takes and my lifestyle are likely to be incompatible with the typical right leaning persons value, but I think everyone's different, and labels are overrated. Another thing to mention here is that I philosophically am sort of opposed to the idea of getting married (I don't think love should be the governments business and I don't see many benefits in getting married) which might turn some people off but unlike my stance on NEVER having children, I could come around to marriage. I don't have a vasectomy yet because getting one at my age in the country I live in is impossible but I will be getting one as soon as I possibly can.

Some other things that might be a deal-breaker are that I drink fairly often and I smoke too (not sure if I want to keep up the smoking long term I'll see). I don't really use any drugs but I am very open to it. Im very hedonistic in that I believe in YOLO and I'm here to maximise as many experiences as I can before I hit the grave. I feel like most of the posts I see here are people who don't partake in substances and that's very cool and I have a lot of respect for you but it could never be me. The only limit to my hedonism is that I want to avoid hurting other beings as much as I possibly can and I have converted to vegetarian recently too because I didn't want to contribute to the death of animals anymore.

Probably one of the more intense posts written on this subreddit lmao but I am generally very chill. I'm also very happy with my life the way it is now but I think having a girlfriend to share it with could be very fun.

TLDR for anyone that didn't wanna read massive blocks of text: rock and metal enjoyer (only deal-breaker is that you have to be into rock and metal music too other than the childfree lifestyle of course), football fan, leftist that wants to go into academia, doesn't believe in marriage, hedonist that doesnt want to hurt other sentient beings as far as possible.

Absolute cheapest vegetarian groceries to look for

I'm looking at transitioning to a vegetarian diet (I also don't eat eggs already) for ethical reasons but food is where I look to save money out of all other budgets so I'm looking for advice on how to sustain a vegetarian diet on the absolute cheapest budget possible. For example, my diet last year was almost entirely pasta and falukorv so I'm essentially just looking for a replacement for the falukorv that gives me enough protein to survive lol.

Can anyone please confirm whether the clip before Sleep said "This is the worst day of your life but the first day of yourself?" in Florence (same show as LATAM from what I heard)

Just want to make sure I heard the words right before I get this shit tattooed on me at some point

Supermarkets to buy ready made sandwiches in town

I was just wondering if there were any supermarkets in town from where I can buy a few ready made sandwiches (for ideally pretty cheap) that don't require heating or anything? Something like Tesco meal deals like they do in the UK.

Football should replace on field referees with VAR entirely

I think more people now believe that VAR should be abolished but I take the opposite view entirely. The problem with VAR isn't that it exists but that it's used very inconsistently - i.e. the clear and obvious error rule is applied depending on the day. I think that replacing on field referees with VAR would lead to the right decisions a lot more often and it'd also be consistent. With VAR you also have the benefit of the referee not being influenced by home crowds.

The only argument again that I can think of is that would kill the spontaneity of celebrating goals, etc. but I think it's a trade off id happily accept for better refereeing.

Is anyone from Munich planning on driving to Stuttgart for the I Prevail concert around 5 PM on the 5th of October

I know this is a very very very long shot but it doesn't hurt to try I guess - I'll be in Munich for an academic conference on the week of the 5th of October and I would love to be able to go to this concert (I go to a lot of rock/metal concerts and I prevail is a band I've wanted to see for a while). My conference ends at 5 pm every day which is a bit too late to get any public transport to get to the show around time so driving is the only chance I have of making it but I don't know how to drive. Soooo I was wondering if there's any chance anyone is also planning on driving to the show by any chance around 5 PM who might have an unused seat in the car and also driving back to Munich on the same night because I also need to be at the conference at 9 am the next day (it goes without saying that I'll pay fuel). I also promise I'm pretty chill and not overly weird.

Camping solo in Jera very last minute with no plan and no camping equipment and I have no idea where to begin

Hey so I just found out yesterday that I'm coming while I was on vacation so all I have with me are a bunch of clothes and I was wondering if anyone would be okay giving me advice?

I really just need a one time tent because I can't take it with me on further travel and I know no one likes someone who adds to the waste at a campsite so my plan is to buy a tent from the festival shop and then I was wondering if anyone else would like it and sleeping bag? I also have a laptop with me (I know 😭) but are the lockers on site safe to store that and other essentials to keep my laptop safely? Is there anything else I should know? I've camped at a festival last year (download in the UK) and I know this might seem like a bad idea but I'm desperate to come so I'll take any advice I can get. Would anyone else also going solo be ok with me camping with them? I'm 23M and despite the slightly panicked (which I chalk down to the circumstances) nature of my post I'm generally pretty chill.

Has anyone used blabla car bus here before? Is it reliable?

I'm watching a friend play a concert in Paris next Friday before taking a overnight coach over to Brussels to then attend a music festival (Graspop). The only option that could get me to Brussels overnight is this company called blabla bus. I was just wondering if anyone had used them before and if they were reliable?

Merch question

Does anyone know what time the merch shops in the arena are open until? I want to buy this shirt but I'm debating but since I'm only there on the Saturday and I want to be near the main stages all day I want to pick it up after BMTH finishes playing. Does anyone know if that'll be possible? Also does merch at Graspop usually sell out by the Saturday? My only festival experience is with download in england and they had sold out of the t shirt I wanted when I went there.

Anyone have a spare ticket to Koln on the 24th of June?

I just found out I'll be in Eindhoven those days so I'd love to be able to go to the show but it's sold out.

Will I be ok wearing an Arsenal FC jersey outside on Sunday?

Hi, I'm travelling to Paris for a few days tomorrow and with Arsenal lifting the PL trophy for the first time in 22 years, I plan on watching the game in a pub on Sunday while wearing my arsenal jersey. But since I'll be travelling and taking in the sights before and after the game, I am slightly anxious about whether I'll be ok wearing an Arsenal jersey around the city - especially with the UCL final coming up against PSG in a few days.

Does anyone know if:

  1. Tourist spots like the Eiffel tower have rules about sports jerseys (especially for a non-French team)?

  2. If I should be ready for any major trouble (beyond ordinary banter ofc) from PSG fans, especially with the UCL final in a few days?
