I couldn't wake up from my dream, i could see my eyes open but FEEL them being closed
I dreamed about being in the city i used to live in as a child. I was excited to go to my favorite store that doesn't exist in real life. For some reason it's a reoccurring store in my dreams. Always the same layout and placement. I love getting these dreams because it's rare but whenever it happens it makes me realize I'm dreaming so i can have a lucid dream. I think it started working after the 6th time of the dream reocurring or so.
I was first suspicious at the fact I couldn't type in the name of the place in google maps. It kept navigating me to countries that don't exist or places with similar names in different continents. I thought that maybe I'm just too excited to go and can't use my phone properly. After I finally arrived i realized that I'm dreaming. It hit me that it's the same store again and that it only exists in my dream. After an hour or two with messing around in my dream i realized i have to get up for work. I was really anxious that I'm oversleeping since it felt like forever. I tried waking up but not luck. Here's how it went:
I ran home and sat down next to a mirror. I could see myself with my eyes open, but FEEL that my eyelids were in fact closed in real life. I tried grabbing my eyelids and forcefully opening them but it was really painful. I could feel my eyes in real life open slowly but they were closing themselves with extreme force fighting against my fingers. At some point i got one of my eyes to open slightly, my bedroom shining through the dream screening but I didn't have enough force to keep them open. In the mirror it looked like i had eyes drawn on top of my eyelids all of sudden, new eyes coming from underneath as they open.
I found that really spooky, especially since i saw the reality shine through within my dream. I don't think i was actually opening my eyes as i was dreaming but the fact i could visualize it so well was awesome. I never had that experience before so i really wanted to share.
In case you're wondering how i woke up i imagined i had a really abusive partner and as he was about to beat me up i actually woke up immediately. I know it's fucked up but it's the only awful thing i could come up with at the moment under all that stress. Giving myself a bunch of stress in emergency situations like this always works.
