Put together this British India set, and found a decent case for it.
Half rupee was the hardest to get in decent condition, total budget was £150 I think I'd have to double check though.
I swooped up an amazing 1793 Bermuda penny only to find out in hand thats its actually a much rarer Pridmore 7/Km#7 restrike, another gem for my George III collection
Hello, any help would be greatly appreciated. Particularly on the third mark and the date. I assume this ring to be 18k. It has diamonds and sapphires. Thank you
Demerara-Essequibo, 1809, 3 guilder (.612oz silver)
Today is the 195th anniversary of the day that this exotically-named colony became British Guiana, the modern-day country of Guyana.
The Dutch began colonizing northeast South America as early as the 1580s, with settlers establishing short-lived trading posts along the inhospitable coast. The Dutch West India Company (WIC) was formed in 1621 to administer these settlements, which grew with the 1674 transfer of Suriname to Dutch control in exchange for English control over New Amsterdam (today’s New York). The Dutch settlers were not alone: they contended with English and French colonizers, as well as with the more established Spanish to their west (in what is now Venezuela) and the Portuguese to their south (in Brazil).
The British attempted to seize some of the Dutch colonies several times during the late 18th century, but lasting control only came during the Napoleonic wars. Britain first seized the 3 WIC colonies of Essequibo, Bernice, and Demerara from the French-occupied Netherlands in 1796; they were returned after an 1802 peace but seized again in 1803 when hostilities resumed. When this was minted in 1809, the colonies were under de facto British administration that was formalized in 1814 after Napoleon’s initial defeat. On July 21, 1831, the 3 colonies were combined into British Guiana, which gained independence from the United Kingdom as Guyana in 1966. Guyana, one of the world’s least densely populated countries, is perhaps known best for being the site of the 1978 Jonestown massacre; for its continued border dispute with Venezuela; for its transformational oil discoveries since 2015; and for its fascinatingly diverse demography (the largest ethnic group is Indo-Guyanese, as in originally from South Asia!). Guyana is not to be confused with French Guyana, which is part of France, or Suriname, the former Dutch colony to its east.
This may be the rarest crown in my collection: only 21,000 were minted (in London) for the far-off South American colonies. I’ve only seen 2 in my life, so when I ran across the second at a coin show a few months ago, I had to jump on it!
German new guinea was a colony located in Kaiser-Wilhelmsland(North shore of nowadays Papua new Guinea) with following territories in the Pacific ocean: the Northern Solomon Islands, the Caroline Islands, Palau, the Mariana Islands, Nauru. The colony existed for exactly 30 years from November 3, 1884, to September 1914. After the treaty of Versailles Germany lost all of its overseas territories including the German new Guinea which was split between Australia, Japan and Great Britain. Obverse of the coin features the bird of paradise - a species of birds found mainly on the New Guinea island, as well as in eastern Austraila and the Moluccas
Firstly please excuse the blurry photo. Recently, on saturday the 27th of June I purchased 17 ember tetras. All have seemed fine, eating well, swimming around and exploring etc. I also have 12 pygmy cory and some amano shrimp, all seem fine.
However, today during a water change I discovered next to my siphon a dead ember tetra. I've checked all of my parameters, and all are fine (using API liquid test kit). All my other fish also seem to be acting fine.
Do I have need to worry? Or is this likely an issue of acclimation, or possibly an accident during the water change?
The fish looked completely healthy, and was upside down at the bottom of the tank dead.
Thanks for any help.
Firstly, apologies for the pictures being out of order, I'm not sure why reddit did that. Secondly, I have 6 medieval/ post-medieval coins that I would appreciate any help with identifying. Firstly:
Coin A: I believe to be a half groat of Edward II/III, however, I am unsure which. Weight: 1.02g, diameter: 1.9cm.
B: I believe to also be a half groat of an Edward from the London mint. Weight: 0.91g, diameter: 1.9cm
C: I think is a half groat of Elizabeth I. Weight: 0.58g, D: 1.5cm.
D: I think is a penny of Henry 7th, weighing 0.6g, D: 1.4cm.
E: I have no idea, weight: 0.34g, D: 1.7cm.
F: Also not much of an idea, weight: 0.36g, D: 1.15cm.
Any help on monarch, mint, denomination, etc, would be greatly appreciated. As well, if possible, to provide a Spink code and/or a Numista listing would be greatly appreciated. I've tried for a few hours to identify these but haven't gotten very far. Thanks for any help.
Hello, I have a 60l tank, heavily planted, along with areas of rocks and drift wood to the sides of the tank, with the middle primarily consisting of tanks. My tank currently houses 12 pygmy cory, along with 3 amano shrimp, mts and bladder snails. I was wondering if a borellii would suit this tank or not? Especially considering that pygmy cory also spend much time at the bottom and I wouldn't want to stress them out. And so I was wondering if it was possible to keep a single male borellii (and some fish that stay towards the top of the tank). Or if instead I'd be better looking at a honey gourami.

Thanks in advance for any help, I'm very new to apistogramma
Just got my 20 francs/4 daler from the Danish West Indies back from grading. A solid MS64 from PCGS. I think it’s my favourite 20 francs in the LMU standard.
Hello, I have a tank that I'm currently cycling, I've been dosing with Dr tims ammonia, and my ammonia seems to be going from 2ppm to 0 in less than 24 hours. My tank is planted and has bladder and malaysian trumpet snails. However my pH has been fluctuating between 7 and 6. My pH is currently at 6, and I'm worried about my snails, I have therefore tested my KH (only one drop added made it become yellow), and GH (3 drops for colour change to occur). I have used the API liquid test kit.
I'm worried about the effects these low values will have on a stable pH, and on my snails. Should I try to increase these parameters? If so how shall I go about it as I'm quite lost? Thank you
27 gram of Dutch Silver. The brother of Napoleon ruled the Netherlands for a while. He was actually quite populair here. And even nicknamed Lodewijk de Goede, or Lodewijk the Good
Crispy paper tone on this guy. Bit undersized. Fun coin.
Today we've just reached 300 members, thank you to everyone who's taken part in this community, you're all very appreciated.
These 10 coins just arrived today, some are almost completely intelligible, but a couple seem quite nice. Spent £32, so think I did alright. Now it's time for me to start identifying!
