Looking for feedback on the Valvomax Quick oil change plug, just installed yesterday.

I do my own oil changes and was looking for a better way to deal with the oil plug. When I went to do my first change on my 21 Willys last fall, the plug was cranked on so hard, no tool could get it free. So I had to take it to a shop for them to remove it.( I bought a new plug to replace it.) That made me mad that not only did I buy the oil and filter but I then had to pay to have it changed.

So I've been looking for and getting feedback on different quick change plugs. I saw the Fumoto had a lot of good reviews, but wasn't happy with the nipple being exposed. I landed on the Valvomax as it had a screw on cap to cover the nipple and a separate hose connection to drain the oil, which I keep with my oil change supplies.

I got some free roughcut maple and think of using it to make a new kitchen counter. I need to bridge the thickness and wonder if I can add 1" plywood as a base.

Was going to put the plywood on the cabinet base then add the finished maple countertop to that.

I should have enough maple to ceeate a false edge after install, although I am unsure of any unrealized issues in doing this.

Picture from when I replaced the sink and painted the ugly "wood" formica.

Beware of ATM skimmers at gas stations. Got 2 withdrawls from Erie blvd East station.

I was in the area and stopped at one of the stations/convenience store on 7/31. Noticed 2 ATM withdrawls from my account this week from a Souix Falls ND atm showing Citibank. These were freestanding machines. So beware. Thankfully I was able to dispute them with my bank, and get a new card. Edit: Speedway Gas @3300 Erie Blvd E.

Has anyone noticed how DAP paintable window/door caulk seems thinned down?

I've been using this common brand for years to seal and caulk. And lately ( past year or so) I go thru a tube not even halfway thru one average window. And the texture(?) is much looser than I recall. Plus it seems more difficult to get a proper laydown because of it's looseness. ( I am proud of how I can skillfully I can do the job with little mess or use tape to keep the caulk from getting everywhere, but it seems to become problematic now).

Open to recommendations for a window/door caulk brand that performs better than DAP, that I can buy at HD/Lowes. I did try Behrs caulk and wasn't impressed.

▲ 12 r/wood

I just scored 11 lengths of various hardwoods after buying a used planer. What treasure do I have?

The ad I saw said the wood is free if a buyer wants it. The Dewalt planer was 300.00. Which is what I wanted. The wood was a bonus.

I have to say that the wood has to be close the same price!!! I'm gonna use them, but I want to mark them by species so I don't mix them up.

All are rough cut, about an inch thick and between 10-11 feet long. They are between 6"-9" wide. He did say there is a mix of Cherry and Maple in there. One was pretty lightweight compared to the rest and is the last pic centermost board not sure what it is.

I need help connecting my Starlink to my Brother HL-L2315DW printer, tried to manually setup and not getting anywhere.

I have to use the 2.4ghz which I already have split as I have security cams on that line. I'm having a time of it trying to get the wifi info onto the printer. I have uploaded new driver for the printer and using a mac with Tahoe installed. I guess my first hurdle is which IP address to use and Gateway???

I first input the address for the 2.4ghz and that didn't work. ( I made sure my laptop was also on the same 2.4ghz to print)

Has anyone attached corrugated metal panels horizontally as fencing and which screw did you use.

I've ordered corrugated metal roof panels to use as fence material instead of pickets. I'm looking for a screw that will go thru the metal (31G) and have a good hold into PT 2x4s. They will be hung horizontally and will get impacted with winter wind. ( there are trees in front of the new fence, but eventually they'll be trimmed or removed).

I found one screw type I think might work, but not sure. It's a pan head screw #8 with a 1" length.

Can a "jog" function be saved when used on a machine with it's energy turned off, but activate when turned on?

I shut down a machine to do a changover, left it shut down to go to lunch, when I came back and turned all the energy sources on, the machine would not start, despite all the correct buttons being lit up. After maintenance came to check, one guy happened to turn the jog knob and the machine started up. Trying to determine if another person touched my machine, because I've never used the jog button.

I accidentally trained my stubborn lab to come inside!!

He likes to ignore me to come in. I grabbed a bag of treats one day and stood at the door and shook it, it got his attention. As he started towards me, I pulled one out and called him, he came inside. We did a happy "good boy" dance. He got a treat ( special).

After a week of him responding to that I started thinking about what to do when I run out of those treats and can't get more for a few days.

So I got to thinking on how to modify it a bit with a specific whistle to alert him it was time to get inside. That also worked after the sucessful second time. Whistle then treat and lots of encouragement.

I say accidentally because I didn't plan it, it came from frustration of needing him inside and not wanting to leash him to do so. So we trained eachother I guess.

Double standards, double talk and other BS in the MDE.

Started a new job this week in manufacturing. Was shown all the bathrooms, there are two near the lockers/breakroom/employee entrance area. So a quick stop before/after break is necessary. One bathroom is unisex the other is mens only. Terrific.

There's another key coded one close to my area but far enough away that if I use it on break or lunch, I might be late getting back to my post.

I used the unisex on Monday after lunch. Didn't notice it's lockable, new day nerves. I knocked first, got no response, used it and went on my way. Great.

Tuesday I get approached by A manager that I should lock the door, I explained my nerves. Said I'll knock, wait, knock again then lock it.

Today I knocked, no response, knocked louder, Said vacant on the door thingy. Went inside, handicapped door was shut, I said yoohoo??? somebody cleared their throat in that cubicle, so I said sorry and left.

I beat a hasty retreat as I was embarrassed for me and the guy, MY manager approached me and asked what happened? I told him I knocked twice, I called out the door was unlocked but it was occupied.

He asked if the other bathrooms out on the floor were too far away to use?? I said " Yes because I had to be at HR right after lunch, and the closest available bathroom is out on the shop floor which would make me late, I came back early so I could use the bathroom right here near his office which is the UNISEX bathroom."

Then I lost it and asked " Why was I talked to about locking a door but the guys are not??? " His answer is the guys don't lock the door. So I asked " So I am required to adapt MY behavior but not anyone else? then it's not really UNISEX is it?" He had no answer. It also happened right before my meeting with HR for some stuff. Oh I now have access to the office bathroons if need be.

It's funny how quickly it goes from Yeah we embrace women here -to "oh THAT bathroom you technically can use but DON'T because that's the mens too."

I saw a pair of work boots on a youtubers channel that did plumbing about a year ago. Saw them on another YT woman that owned her own NZ construction company. They were a lace up boot with a side zip so you could set your fit then easy on/off.

I found thru research that they only sold in the UK,Aus and NZ markets. I tried to find a US retailer back then. Ended up dropping my search until last month when I needed steel toe boots for a new job, so I tried again.

I stumbled upon Overlook Boots website, and listed under womans work boots were these same boots, same brand. Blue Steel. So I ordered them. The Southern Cross Steel Toe boot, has metatarsal protection as well.

They are true to size, all leather. Tried them on, and are just a tiny bit snug but I have a high instep. So I am in the process stretching them in that area, otherwise they have plenty of cushioning. I can update when I start actually wearing them next week.
