This isn’t a blue jay?
Or is it? Beautiful blue wings and tail, gray head. Eastern KY.

Apologies for the photo dump.
I have experience with mending.
Familiar with Cotten and weaves.
She has these lovely wool blend skirts that need to come in roughly 3 inches. 1 1/2 on each side. Her waist is a 35 and the front half is 18 3/4 so I estimate a 38 inch waist on the skirt. We have done the pinning and marking at the office. Apologies for the estimates. Her waist is 35”.
I am hoping to just stitch up the sides and tack the extra to the waist band. I am scared of cutting it with my inexperience. The wool fold over at the top is nice and thick and I worry will add too much bulk to the waist.
Construction seems to be 2 panels, wool fold over 2 inches and top stitched. The lining is quite close to coming apart at the seams. Not sure what is happening at that invisible zipper. There are darts I am confident I do not need to touch. Nor take out the zipper.
If I absolutely must cut, do I seam rip the lining down to its hem, Seam rip the wool waist 2 inches and taper in, then sew the lining 1/2 inch from the original seam to hold off the fraying? Would you recommend a hand back stitch on the wool waist? Then using proper machine needle and thread for the slippery lining?
She enjoys the length, just needs to bring in the waist.
BUYING ADVICE
Would love to do a diy. I enjoy a white/pink board and caps (love to watch the grease build up /s). Switch color I don’t mind. If I could choose white, clear.
Price point ideally around 150.
I would like diy my razor black widow. I am actually 100% sure it’s a v3. The switches probably aren’t even swappable. RIP. I love that pink.
I really like the feel and sound of the Steelseries Apex 3.
Can you swap a black widow v3 switches? If you have experience with that, what did you do?
I have a Logitech pop keys but I desperately want a number pad for work. I like the sound of the logi, but my fingers slip off the key caps.
Should I just get a membrane like the Apex 3? Its price point is pretty peak for the joy I get out of it.
Preferably one that is not black. If anyone has recommendations for a full size diy keyboard with a creamy sound please share. Maybe even a TKL but an auxiliary? Num pad. ❤️
Thank you so much for your time. I hope you have a good day.
I'm working on piecing together a quilt. When I get to the quilting step, I am thinking of sashiko-ing it. Is it possible? Possible but daunting?
I don't see it as any different than hand quilting. Just a different method. No framing needing. I would have to baste the whole freaking thing though.
Would a third hand be helpful? Any tips? Should I be discouraged?
Thank you for reading this thread.
Edit. I am thinking of using the Kasumi Tsunagi pattern. An image of my quilt top can be found in the comments. The main color is peach. Trying to decide if I should compliment with a light blue sashiko thread. Or stay with a cherry blossom pink.
Puh lease someone with magic fingers tell me why using the bottom stitch stopped my machine from engaging the needle. It hand cranks backward just fine!
He got eye surgery and had a cone on him. He woke me up and I noticed he didn't have his cone. We found it stuck, collar and all, to this horrible wool mat i didnt even know we had. We think a small piece of hair got ripped off. The spot was smaller. I noticed just now that it grew.
He has a check up tomorrow. But I want to know what this is??? Ringworm? Over grooming? Cancer??? I don't think he can reach it with his tongue. We did apply antibiotic ointment to it.
He is taking pain meds and got an antibiotic shot for his recovery.
His name is Campbell.
Right on me bum
The fabric of the dress is so light and almost loosely woven. I used a sewing needle and two stranded embroidery floss. Patch from a pillowcase.
First picture is after I ironed off the pattern marks.
I 100% felt and heard the rip. Asked my boss if my dress ripped. She didn't see it. Found it two days later when washing it.
