Ive played in bands in my college town for 16 years and toured regionally. Theres a robust scene here. In my experience some of my favorite bands have been ones not really known outside of their own local scene. Id like you to send me your favorite bands from your city or region. What am I missing that I would never have heard about otherwise.

Im a gen x music nerd who grew up digging through record shop crates, reading alternative music magazines and free papers, listening to college radio ( shout out to album 88 in Atlanta) me and my friends were always trying to find the most obscure bands in an effort to be more cool and elite within the scene. s alot of bands i either forgot about, never heard of, or didn't appreciate at the time. Give me your favorite regional, obscure or genre bending groups that didn't get lauded in the "Alternative " boom. Im thinking the period about 1988 to 1994

I lived in Atlanta then and had family in Athens so the band that immediately comes to mind in this category is

The Flat Duo Jets, particularly the album Wild, Wild Love

I was obsessed with this album as a 17 or old nerd and it still holds up

Ive recently been obsessed with all the incredible underground rock coming out from around '77 to '88

No wave, post punk, minimalist rock, etc

I feel like I've listened to all the most known bands and artists that are in this ballpark but I know that im missing some great stuff that hasn't come across my radar. Please help!
