free time, personal life, friends

i’m about to start my au pair life and am very excited but also kind of getting anxious about how much personal time i’ll have in my life.
what is your personal life schedule like? going to classes, events, hanging out, making friends, having a relationship, exercise, creative time, resting, etc?

especially interested in hearing from those who have free time during school hours (9 to 4) on weekdays, or have only sundays off.
or if you have full weekends off too.

thank you 💕

have you limited contact with your parents? or no contact?

does the guilt go away? do you feel better, has your life improved?
i don’t think i can handle being treated like i’m a bad person for being happy and the jealousy that comes at me anymore

does anyone else’s friend group use instagram therapy speak anytime conflict arises

what is the point of talking about emotions if you are sanitizing, packaging, and organizing them to tell someone what your problem is with them? it feels so clinical and patronizing

i want to have a natural conversation, not have someone apply a framework to try to guide me toward the absolute correct way to resolve and “heal” something while using hyper specific therapeutic language to achieve peace and healing. i don’t find it helpful, i feel like i am being guilt tripped

OK to ask for set hours on weekend?

i have sundays fully off, but for saturdays my host family wants me to be on call in case they have work/things to catch up on and need their child to be watched. when i talked to someone about this, they worried about boundaries and said it would be beneficial for me to have set hours of availability on saturdays rather than just being at home all day waiting. thoughts and opinions from other au pairs or host families are welcome, thank you!

over time can you actually help someone who avoids vulnerability?

do they ever start to melt or open up if you continue to share your warmth or no
most of the times i show warmth or share something non-surface level i am not acknowledged or reciprocated unless it is when i give affection irl
i feel crazy or like it isn’t wanted, but is it secretly wanted or appreciated??

yeah i should save my energy and give up the savior complex but i want to understand

how do you know if he signs books after the show?

i’m at the brighton show and there’s a table full of his books as well as signed copies. but i’ve seen some people say that there was a signing after the show they went to.

thank you!

bring back fun & colorful flight attendant uniforms

there’s a small display of 60s & 70s flight attendant uniforms at LAX! i’m drooling. imagine being required to wear Emilio Pucci tights for your job

in order: Pan American Airways, Continental Airlines, Braniff International Airlines, Trans World Airlines, Pacific Southwest Airlines, Western Airlines.

also, an incredible poster by Peter Max for Pan Am in 1969!!
