I’ve just cried like I never have before over this game.
I went on animal jam today and walked slowly, I looked away from the speech bubbles flooded with my shop advertising, the jamaa journal promotions full of p2p. I just took it all in, not all those bad things but all of what we’ve forgotten. This whole time we’ve forgotten about the cool locations to explore, all the fun mini games tucked away in the game menu, taking care of our pets not just to level them up for more value, dressing up not to look rich or trade but to just show off your new look.
I want to hangout with friends, I want to go online and see people conversing, not about trading and values, but about each other and how their days have been. I want to go online and see people talk about this game, not for any controversies or bad decisions, but for the massive world this game has and the fun things it has.
I had gone to gabby’s animal hospital the other day and there was this one jammer; level 5, jam mart items, still looking like they had an imagination behind their screen asking something along the lines of “ABC FOR SCHOOL ROLEPLAY!” Nobody responded. It breaks my heart seeing new players going into this game thinking it’ll be a game to hangout and make new friends and roleplay just to find it’s been turned into an economy game with paywalled features.
I feel in love with this game for a reason, it’s characters, its map, its customization, & its players. But lately I’ve been seeing more hate, more controversy, less roleplay, & less genuine interaction.
This game has become an economy game, I miss when it was a hangout game. I will always play animal jam, without a doubt but it saddens me to see what’s this game used to be.
