Went to nab some House of Kong tickets...ruh roh

Maybe leaning heavy into the "THIS IS THE ONE TIME IT'LL HAPPEN" then proceeding to put it on two more times has had a negative effect........I know a number of people in NYC who traveled elsewhere to see the exhibit already.

I finished my shadowbox from Citi Field!

So many goodies this year! I had to get a bigger one than usual because there were a lot more prints this time.

Help with acronym bracelets. Figured out the top, what’s the bottom?

The person who gave me the top wanted to know what it was and it hit me like half an hour later, it’s It’s Not A Fashion Statement It’s A Deathwish. But I have zero idea about the bottom!

Edit: Thanks everyone! It's a quote from Frank's twitter: "although i may not be a lesbian in the classical sense"

I’m a simple man, MCR comes to town, I make a stupid long chain. Last year was the DD intro, this years it’s WTTBP! If you see me at CitiField say hello, I’m wearing my special shirt (pic 2)

Final Citi Field update post: exclusive shirt is the same as the poster. The pin is “exclusive” but doesn’t have much to it. The vinyl had a printing issue. They are working on it, but they may not be dispersed to the merch booths until closer to doors. They will be in all booths.

Confirmed from Citi Field merch staff: The ONLY city exclusive items at this time are the shirt, poster, and a pin. They had a printing issue with the city exclusive vinyl and it is not currently available. It may be available later in the day.

Citi Field update: it appears I was wrong about the shirt, the green one is a standard tour shirt. Exclusive poster is the standard looking one with the venue/date. No confirmation on exclusive shirt yet.

Staff is also aware of the group of scalpers near the front, however, there’s minimal they can do.

Citi Field merch line update: ~200 @ 9am. Peaks into the truck seem to confirm the city exclusive shirt is the image currently on their Insta stories. Items limited to 2 a person according to staff.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you aren’t in line already, based on their NJ show, there will not be city exclusive merchandise left.

u/fraxiiinus — 11 days ago

Current state of the Citi Field early merch line is ~40 people as of 7:30. No exclusive merch has been revealed.

Just figured I’d give an update since I know people will be asking. I’ll do another in like an hour and a half.

50ish bracelets ready for Citi Field! I’ll be getting there early for merch and can’t wait to trade 🤘🏼

10 each of my album themed ones and then a bunch of one-offs!

Some musings on why Grace's personal bag didn't have a real name tag while his uniforms did.

The real answer: For the sake of the audience, it served as an early visual indicator that Grace didn't belong in his environment, and was a last minute addition to the situation.

My head canon answer: It's deeply unlike Stratt to miss something. Through the book and film, she makes sure every T is crossed and I is dotted. She doesn't compartmentalize, she looks directly into the abyss of horrible things that need to be done and doesn't blink or flinch, because that's what the world needs to survive. It's the reason she's the head of the project.

Part of that is being attuned to the needs of her personnel. She encourages observers to clap for Grace, because she knows that's what he needs mentally to be efficient. The film added the mental health room, which she clearly deemed important enough to take up a lot of space in the ship. She bought hats and shirts and set up parties. She knows camaraderie helps her team. The humanity of the people she works with is something she considers as a part of the whole and critical to the mission.

Which is why I think it's so interesting that Grace's clothing and suit are embroidered with his name, but the personal bag is not.

The reason could be interpreted in two ways, depending on your feelings about Stratt. The first is that she's a one-dimensional villain who never cared about Grace or anyone else, so she forgot he was a person and to toss his stuff on the ship. I deeply disagree, as noted above, but hey, people see what they need to.

The second, which I personally think, is that she had to compartmentalize for the first (and possibly only) time in the entire project. If Grace was just a part of the machine to her, the personal bag would have been another item on the checklist of shit to get ready for the mission, the same as the other two's bags and the rest of his mission-critical items.

But it wasn't. The personal bag is the one part of the prep that was 100% for Grace, that would require her to think about him, not just The Science Officer. The Science Officer needed a uniform. The Science Officer needed the EVA suit. The Science Officer needed his biometrics uploaded. Check, check, check. But Grace needed his things, and the only reason Stratt would have forgotten is if she was trying really, really hard not to remember.

In my mind I see her up all night before launch, too wired to sleep, and it hitting her like a ton of bricks at 1am what she avoided. She speed-walks to his bunk (trying not to remember how he tried to speed-walk away when they first met) and throws every shirt she ever saw him wear into the bag. Rips through his drawers for personal effects or photos, 'you don't even have a dog' bouncing around her head when she finds nothing. Writes his name with her own hand, includes a trinket, and simply hopes it's enough.

ISO 1-bed or studio for 6-month sublet or lease takeover, $2300 budget, ideally furnished, Queens or Brooklyn

Hi all! After setting my roots here 12 years ago, my mother is moving up to be closer to our family. We're looking for an (ideally furnished) sublet where she can settle into city life and spend more time finding her ideal neighborhood and a more permanent home. The wishlist:

  • Studio under $2000 or 1 bed under $2300
  • Ready either July 15 or Aug 1
  • Furnished (optional but preferred)
  • Sublet or takeover must be landlord-approved

Does anyone have a singular brick?

I'm putting a bird camera outside, it's more likely to stay if I have something heavy to anchor it to rather than use one of those flexible tripods. I've got a screw and brick drill bits, so I'm just gonna drill the screw into the brick so I can mount the camera.

I swear to god that's what I'm using it for. It just seems silly to buy one brick.

Mom's moving up to be closer to my family, looking for neighborhood suggestions!

My 60yo mom is retiring and deciding to move up to NYC to be closer to my family. She visits frequently and we know the city life fits her well. I've lived in Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Kew Gardens and Ridgewood and have a passing familiarity with Forest Hills, Jackson Heights, Prospect/Sunset park, and the Coney Island area.

I want to expand our search more into Brooklyn, or perhaps the north Bronx, so I'd love to know your thoughts on neighborhoods that fit her needs:

  • Walkable to a grocery store (~4 blocks)
  • Some bars and restaurants
  • Older demographic
  • On the quiter side

Thank you for any suggestions!

Edit: Looking to rent, budget around $3000 for a studio or 1bed which is why we're largely looking in Brooklyn.

ISO 1-bed or studio for 6-month sublet or lease takeover, $2300 budget, ideally furnished, South Brooklyn

Hi all! After setting my roots here 12 years ago, my mother is moving up to be closer to our family. We're looking for an (ideally furnished) sublet where she can settle into city life and spend more time finding her ideal neighborhood and a more permanent home. The wishlist:

  • Studio or 1 bed
  • $2,300 month max
  • Ready either July 15 or Aug 1
  • Minimum 6 months
  • Furnished (optional but preferred)
  • Sublet or takeover must be landlord-approved

We're looking in Brooklyn, specifically South Brooklyn because I've lived in that area and we're already familiar with it. We're also open to Queens, the closer to Ridgewood (where I am) the better.
