Critique My Split - Too much?

I've been running generally the same split with some variations since, well... I was 16 i.e. 30 years. I've tried mixing it up with 5/3/1 and PPL, German volume training here and there at times, reducing sets and focusing more on cardio. I find I don't really grow with PPL after a few months; 5/3/1 has helped meet a particular weight max goal, but I find it restrictive and boring. But I always fall back to my tried and true which is a relatively typical split with some exercise variation across days and HIIT worked in.

My split is generally 5-6 days/week, any less and I feel like my muscles are degrading in groups due to lack of frequency. In fact, I've found that if I don't mix in a couple sets of a muscle group halfway before hitting that muscle group's focus day, I feel like I'm losing out.

On the other hand, I feel like I might be doing too much in frequency as most guidance I've seen suggests more rest days in the routine (unless you're on gear which I'm not at present). I'm going for a mix of strength and aesthetic. I used to be more disciplined about focusing on hypertrophy or stregth at times, but now I've eased back into a mixed routing. I'm asking for suggestions as a) I'm a bit bored, b) I'm a bit plateau'ed. Advices?

Best Fold phone for my needs?

I'm looking to move from a Xiaomi 15 Ultra to a fold. I have long train commutes and really like the idea of having a bigger screen to watch videos/films/series. I also know some support a stylo like my old S23 Ultra which I really found handy. I also don't really need a top camera like on my current 15 Ultra: a decent shooter will suffice. I would like to ensure I have all-day battery which my 15 Ultra just barely makes nowadays. I don't game on my phone (nothing graphically intense, in any case) and really have found performance over the last few gens of phone more than enough.

Budget is £900 (not opposed going used/refurb)

I'm in the UK

What to do with Pepto Bismol tiles?

We've recently bought and moved into a beautiful Grade II 16th-century cottage. It's all in all a lovely home with the usual Grade II quirks (it even has the requisite apotopaic/witch scratches on rafters).

Two particular points: the exterior is a light Suffolk pink, and more pointedly, the kitchen has pink accent tiling. I actually like the exterior pink color which I understand is/was quite common on medieval buildings (despite my wife not being a fan). The issue is the previous owners tried to color match the kitchen's accent tiling, around 25ftsq total, which runs behind the sink and stove - and it does not match well. While the house exterior is a very light pink, the tiles are a distinctly darker Pepto Bismol color - they actually clash quite abrasively with the exterior. I'm not an interior design guru by any measure, but the color is quite aggressively bad for the house and interior. Bless the previous owners for trying.

While the exterior of the house, parts of the interior adornments and some of the grounds are protected, there's nothing in the kitchen we cannot change. Should we try prepping and painting them before ripping out the lot? If so, what kind of paint? I would place backsplashes behind the sink and stovetop, so I don't think wear would be an issue on the paint.

Best replacement for a Xiaomi Ultra 15?

I really like my Xiaomi 15 Ultra that I've had for the past 1 year+. Build is great, camera fantastic. It's been a great phone. Moreover, the camera add-on is really nice and actually useful on days out.

Unfortunately, it has developed two issues I'm not sure are (easily) remediated. First, I stupidly dropped it and cracked a bit of the screen in the corner. This would be livable, but every few times I go to a screen the touch seems ~1cm off e.g. I try to click an icon and it hits the once above. Second the battery has gotten quite bad (even in battery saver mode and removing and forcing stop on apps). I would say I'm a heavy user, but barely make it to the end of the day with battery left.

As such, I'm looking for a new phone. My requirements:

- Decent daily-use phone e.g. videos, emails, texts, app support

- Good camera. Doesn't need to be stellar, but I'm a bit spoilt now having used the Xiaomi Ultra (15 and 14 before that)

- Good battery life that doesn't require me to charge multiple times a day

- Good-sized screen, 6.7 inches and above

- One available with a global or UK version. I've done the CN versions of phones and there always seems to be something that doesn't work e.g. Android Auto

- I'm not a heavy mobile gamer, but do play Genshin and Grid occasionally

Budget isn't really a concern, but if there are close rivals I'd unsurprisingly pick the less expensive option. I'm also not opposed to going used/refurbished.

Tax implications of transferring 40k USD to GBP UK account

I'm an American-Brit with UK tax residency. I have a US savings account from which I'd like to FX convert and transfer $40k to ~£30k in my UK account. The funds are the last remainder of the proceeds from a US property I sold in 2024, and during this year I paid cap gains tax on the entire sum and had transferred most to the UK.

Will I be subject to any UK taxes or extra admin for this transfer?

What to do if flight missed due to massive transit delays

I'm headed way to the US (my father's funeral...) and had a BA flight that was departing at 2:30pm from Heathrow. I left my house in West Kent at 10:15am this morning which would have me arrive ~3hrs ahead of my flight. It's now 4:30pm and I'm still stuck on the goddamned M25 due to a massive accident that happened shortly after I left and still about an hour away from Heathrow in normal traffic.

I've missed my flight, and connecting flights.... And they've now canceled my return booking for next week. What options do I have? I do have travel insurance through my Amex Platinum.

Sourcing External Enclosure for Shucked SanDisk Extreme Pro

Here's a weird one... I bought a shucked 4TB SanDisk Extreme Pro external (WD SN850XE) last year that's been sitting virtually unused as an extra storage drive in my PC. It works fine, albeit speed limited out of its enclosure.

I now want to use it as an external backup/time machine drive for my wife's MacBook. Any idea where I can source just the enclosure for this drive? I figure there must be tons of the original enclosures around considering how many were shucked. It doesn't need to be blazingly fast and I can deal with it's limited speed as just a back-up drive.

I currently have a GameMax F15:

https://www.gamemax.uk/index.php/products/cases/f15m-mid-tower-argb-gaming-case/

Great case, especially for the price. Only issue is it's not wide enough to fit my Zotac RTX 5090 Solid. I need to keep the side panel off since the card and my CPU has/f just barely clears the top of the 5090, and compresses the power cables which is a big no-no for a card using this much power.

Any recommendations for a case that is wider and has more clearance for larger/taller components? Ideally the case would have 200mm or 140mm front fans. My only restriction is the case can be no wider than 26cm and no taller than 57cm.

I recently upgraded to the 2000 plan, and to take full advantage of the speed I plan to hardwire my main PC to the 2.5Gbps LAN on the Sagemcom Hub, then also use my own mesh devices (three Eero 6 pros).

For the main Eero mesh hub, do I just plug it into one of the 1G LAN ports (using the other two Eeros as satellites)? If so, any special settings I need to do on the Sagemcom router or Eero?

Excuse the WOT, somewhat complex scenario...

I'm a dual American and UK citizen, been living in the UK for over a decade now. My (British) wife and I have always had an arrangement where I own the properties in the US and she owns the properties in the UK. Our current situation is we (she) currently owns a large home in the SE UK, and we (I) don't own any property in the US. I liquidated my last property in the US two years ago, paying the required cap gains tax.

We're now looking to sell our (her) current house and buy a smaller, marginally more expensive house. We would like to buy the new house *before* we sell our current home (to avoid having a chain, and because we'd like to move closer to my in-laws and jobs ASAP).

The new house is around £900k, our current house should sell conservatively for around £800k (£550k equity, £250k left on mortgage). We have £500k liquid to put down leaving a decent emergency fund, giving a 27% LTV. We both earn very coincidentally the same, £130k/year. No large expenses, no kids or dependents. Credit is excellent for both of us, for what that's worth.

In order for us to bridge the cost of buying the new house without selling our current house first, I would need to go on the mortgage with my wife as just her alone will just not be able to qualify for the £400k needed - but with both of us, it's easy.

My question is what are the implications for me going on a mortgage with my wife as an American-Brit? And is it advantageous for me to go on the mortgage, but technically not own the house e.g. I'd be a guarantor?

Edit: Worth noting we'd expect to own this new house for the next ten years at least, then sell up and move to France (where we've both also lived).
