XPEL XR plus, opinions?

For starters I live in Texas.

I take delivery of my new vehicle in a few days so I wanted to find the best tint for me. On my current car, I have Xpel, don’t remember the kind I got. The car still gets very hot (black car) but it cools down pretty fast. My new car (4Runner) is also going to be black. I’m talking with a few tint shops, some use STEK and some use Xpel.

I think I’m going to bite the bullet and use the Xpel XR plus as its nano, and seems to be top of the line. All windows and rear windshield is $575. Another company using STREK is charging $425 for nano ceramic.

Which would you choose and why?

Dealership wanted $49K OTD in Texas for USED premium ‘26.

Went to shottenkirk toyota today, I’m not one to name drop but this was too crazy. They had a demo with 2.5k miles. Sticker was $38k. Immediately when we sat down they continued talking about financing when I asked for the OTD pricing. After about 3 tries they bring me a deal sheet with a grand total of $49,000. Taxes in my state are a bit under 3k. $6k in markups not including other fees. ‘Salesman commission fee’ was one of the other BS mark ups. Never seen that before.

Salesmanager hit me with the whole hard to find a gr86 bs, my husband and I walked out. Of course he followed us to our car…. I’m normally pretty good about negotiating but this was absolute clown world. Went to another dealership that promised msrp with their $1700 markup they have on all vehicles and taxes. Not too bad. Problem is they don’t have one in stock.

We want the car for a fair price, and don’t mind waiting. We plan to put a deposit on an allocation once one is available. What price did you pay OTD, and include your state tax if applicable please! I can’t justify $50k for a ‘86. At that pace looking at a used Supra may be a better option.

Leroy is almost 11 years old!

Appreciation post for my long time friend! I got leroy when I was 10 years old. I saved up all my birthday and Christmas money, got him a decent tub setup where he stayed for about a year until I got him an exo terra 36x18 as a gift for straight A’s. I’m now 20, almost 21 years old and I joined the military! He stayed with a family friend for almost a year during my training, and I was able to upgrade his enclosure to a way better setup! (Enclosure has more foliage this picture was when it first arrived).

I make this post because I saw another post asking if they make good pets for children. Without a doubt, if a child wants a reptile and does their research they make amazing pets. It’s so rewarding to have a friend that made it through my childhood with me, and will likely live to see my children one day. He’s never bitten me, he’s helped so many people get over their fear of snakes, and importantly he’s taught me so much responsibility. BPs are amazing pets! I got this little guy from Petsmart for about $60 years ago (ik, don’t kill me). My dream is a banana pied and I will likely get one once I purchase a house. I can’t imagine my life without a scaly friend :)

Leroy has been with me through it all. From when I had to beg my parents for him, to take me to the store to get his rats🥲, him escaping his bin enclosure and more. I’ve learned so much over the years and I’m happy he’s in a better setup. I had to update myself on the new BP care guidelines and I can tell he is the happiest he’s ever been.

Utilizing 4H/4L once a month. Is it necessary?

I get my new ORP in about 2 weeks, coming from Honda civic’s all my life I have no idea how this stuff works. I want to do everything possible to ensure the reliability of my new vehicle!

I’ve heard it’s a good idea to use 4H for at least 10 miles once a month. The problem is I live in Texas. I don’t see much rain, likely won’t see any snow. Detailed instructions on how and when to exercise 4WD would be a great help to me! TIA!

How long do allocations take?

I put a deposit for my runner, which is currently going from the factory to the port per the spreadsheet.

Please share timelines for your allocation and state! I would love to see them. I’m wondering how long it would take to reach my dealership in San Antonio TX.
Thanks! Hope to join the club soon.

Hybrid vs gas

Do you have a gas or hybrid model, and why did you choose the model you did? Thanks

I have an allocation for a gas ORP. the biggest thing that deterred me from the hybrid was the trunk being raised. Additionally I’ve researched long term the gas model may have better reliability and cheaper repairs as the engine is more simple. It’s also less weight. I do not plan to tow anything, just using it for pleasure and my pup. Did I make the right decision?

Allocated vehicle higher priced than negotiated deal sheet. Will they honor it?

I recently put down a deposit on a new 4Runner. The negotiation sheet was used with a vehicle that costed around 61.4k. We agreed to 57,800 OTD. The allocated vehicle is going for $63.4k. After a quick text with my sales representative I was told they would honor the deal. I’m unsure if she is tracking the difference in the vehicles.. I want to be clear the signed deal sheet is with a VIN that does not match my car as it was not yet built at the time.

Recently their competitor essentially told me they could get me the vehicle I wanted with the original add ons I requested much sooner, and would do free tire upgrades and window tint. They put doubt in my head about my original dealership honoring the negotiated price.

I am now stuck. I’ve built a good relationship with my original dealership, and they have been patient and kind to me. Everything thus far has occurred just as they said it would. Granted all they’ve received from me was a $1000 deposit. I don’t want to shorthand anyone. I would love insight from those who may know from experience! Thank you

Who do you go to for reliable maintenance?

My allocation comes in very soon! (About a month or two). I plan to do a break in period oil change, then every 5k miles.

With the engine being a turbo 4cyl I really want to ensure my maintenance is up to par. I really would like to utilize Toyota for maintenance however in past with dealerships, they don’t always do everything. For example my Honda that was serviced at a Honda dealership was supposed to get an oil change and tire rotation. Tire rotation was never done. (I marked the tires). Maybe it was a one off instance.

I want to use Toyota service as they use OEM parts which feels better in my head. For those of you who will tell me to do it myself, I can’t. I’m not mechanically savvy.. I’d be likely to end up with old oil all over my face🤣.

Help! My land shark is falling apart

Kanan had lots of fun biting the towel after playtime. I found 2 souvenirs!

u/ghostbuuster — 1 month ago

Kanan scared the crap out of me 🤣

I peeped in the crate cover after hearing some cute snores.. almost had a heart attack😂.

I hate when people assume it’s cruel to crate my puppy. He needs a reset sometimes and so do I. He’s always flipped on his back with his feet in the air knocked out haha.

What’s your MPG after upgrading wheels?

I hate the chrome look on the ORP tires, but want to get the most MPG I can. I do like the TRD center caps though.. thinking about upgrading wheels and tires down the road. Share your build, and MPG! Love to see pics too!

Best seat covers for heated and ventilated seats? Lexland/EKR

Looking for good seat covers for my 4 runner. Right now, I’m debating between EKR and lexland. I’m getting the ORP so it has the soft tech with heated and ventilated seats, but I wanted covers to keep them looking good and free from tears, scratches etc especially because my dog will be in the car fairly often. If you have EKR or lexland let me know if the sets still work! Haven’t been able to get a clear answer. Other recommendations are welcome :)

What do you dislike about your new runner?

Patiently waiting for my ORP to come in, I put a deposit a few days ago. Hopefully will be here in 2 months or so. I know everyone thinks the 6th gen is expensive, and don’t like the new powertrain but inflation is a thing, and if you can afford it who cares! Idk much about engines and stuff, but from a bit of research the engine isn’t ‘new’ and has seemed to be reliable thus far.

With that being said what do you dislike about your runner? Are there any little annoying things, are you happy with your purchase? Please include trim level as well! :). Additionally, are there any add ons that you appreciate having?

Explain mods to me like I’m a 5 year old

Just placed a deposit on my ORP. I plan to enjoy stock for a while, but I’m sure I’ll want to mod it in due time. I love the big tire look. I will rarely go off roading if at all because I’m already a shitty driver and don’t want to mess up my paint lol. What is a common tire upgrade? Should I add shocks/lift and suspension upgrades?

Can someone please tell me what a good build is for bigger tires, but a smooth ride (as smooth as it gets lol) that won’t tank my MPG. also, because I’m getting a black vehicle I plan to ceramic coat and wash every other week at the touch free/hand wash stations. Is this a good idea? Feel free to put your builds below, and if possible tell me why you chose the mods you did and how they affect your car! Prices would be helpful if you’re comfortable sharing. Thank you!

Those of you that put a deposit down on a new vehicle, how did it go?

I recently put a $1000 deposit (sales manager said it’s nonrefundable but sales rep told me it was, and they say nonrefundable to scare people) on a 4 runner because I’m very specific about color, trim and specs on it. It’s a ORP black, with moonroof, dash cam, digital rear view). We negotiated the price, I paid and went on my way with receipt and signed deal sheet.

I’ve never placed a deposit on a vehicle before, as prior to this experience I just bought a car on the lot. Because the dealership gave me a good discount, it’s in my best interest to sell my current car to carvana as Toyota couldn’t give me what my car is worth. As I got home and thought about it, I don’t have a VIN number for the vehicle. They provided me with a different vin on paper to the correct vehicle just different color and my requested specs not there. Im just curious as to how this process works? I know Toyota does not allow people to ‘build’ their cars.. I was told the wait would be between 1-3 months. Im super excited about this car! I hope I really do get it at the agreed price. Would love to hear your experiences and wait times. Thanks!
