I seem to have triggered a few M5 owners (me being an M5 owner) but thought I'd open up discussion on coil whine/electric noises from the device.

Firstly, people stating their M5s are silent - they aren't. Even if you don't have coil whine, the device is not silent by operation. it has fans.

anyway, I've had 3 samples of M5 AVPs now.

First one had coil whine on heavy tasks. Namely making a spatial photo. It would make an audible coil whine/cricket sound.

Second unit had some whine too but had other issues.

The third unit I have here (which I'll keep) is MUCH quieter. However, its not silent. If I do antyhing heavy such as skim through lots of 45megapioxel photos in photos app, it does do a very very subtle coil whime.

Now for context, the room has to be silent, there you need to mute the unit and then you'll get some very vqeyr quiet high frequency sound potentially.

I still have an M2 AVP here which is much quieter. I was going to some diagnostics myself. I have sapped the right ear cups on them, I also tried swapping the battery packs. In all honesty, it made very little difference. I think the TONE of the sound changed slightly with a the other ear cup but it still made sound when skimming high resolution photos.

Anyway, any thoughts?

Congratulations to those with silent units (although I do suspect maybe your hearing is normal whilst mine is OCD level).

NOW FYI... this is a VERY VERY minor issue, I am very very OCD with noises so likely pick up on thtings tohers don't. I have coil whien on my TV which my family and even the TV repair people really struggled to pick up...

For M5 owners.. please dont take this an insult. Some users were getting every angry/emotional on my other thread.

I posted a vast comparison a couple of months ago, followed by returning the M5 Vision Pro due to coil whine.

I ended up buying it agian so I thought I'd post my observations.

Firstly for the negatives - I've now had three M5 AVPs. I can confirm all 3 of them are noisier than my M2 AVPs. The sound for seeking through photos or tasks or whatever it is - is louder on all of the M5s. This is not a loud soud by any means but there is a difference.

USP of M5 has been AV1 decoding. I found in ALVR, HVEC/H264 look better.

Now onto the positives:

1. Boot up time - excellent, especially for battery swaps if needed

2. Battery life - important as the additional battery life tips you over the edge of usability for films

3. Visual clarity - for me, its a big upgrade. The 13% extra supersampling and the increased motion resolution are excellent.

4. Performance - Its hard to make it come to a standstill. Its smooth and lovely to use

5. Audio - maybe its just variation unit to unit - but my M5 sounds better than my M2 by an audiophile level tiny margin.

6. Fit and comfort - the Dualnkit is really comfortable and classy way of using the AVP.

Overall, I love it. Its a very strong refinement. However for those of a bduget of a usaged M2, I think its a much better utilisaiton of money.

I own 2x M2 Apple Vision pros and 1x M5 vision Pro.

Sadly my M5 Vision pro has a tiny cosmetic flaw with one of the speaker arms. My M2 arms are pristine. Am I okay to swap the arms? I've got the tool to do so. Or will this void my warranty if my M5 later needs repair but it doesn't have the original speaker arm?

I assume this won't cause an issue as I don't think the arms have a serial number but wanted to check.

EDIT: decided not to swwap them. The M2 arm is a bit yellow from age.

HI, I got the dual knit band in large and its too big. way outside of return window.

Any ideas or hints and tips how I could make it work to my advantage re: sewing on something at the back to provide more cushioning or any smart ideas or modificaitons?

Hi, weird thing happening. M5 AVP, takes ages to boot up testflight apps. They have an organfe spot next to their name on the home screen. When I try to open them, its a black screen, followed by opening eventually.

Any fix or cause for this? They have an orange dot next to them despite tghe fact I have launched them before.

Hi, I'd like to buy an Apple Vision pro from CEX but sell my current Apple vision pro (not enough storage).

How can I do this if the apple vision pro I want is in their london store but I'm in birmignham? Ideally I'd love to trade my current one rather than sell for cash?

Could I buy the AVP and get it delivered to my house, then returen it to my local store and repurchase it off of them whilst trading in my old one? I know its a bit convoluted and confusing...!

Also is it safe to buy such a high value item from CEX? I wanted advic eon manufactruring date and if it might still be applicable for apple care warranty but I doubt CEX will know this.;

Is it worth me buying a 65 inch Oled c6 or can my Apple Vision Pro help me doing 3d gaming? If so, how can it do it ?

Don't!

Coming from a click G915:

1. I don't think the keyboard is that satisfying to use. I had the blush nano switches.

2. The looks are very meh. Doesn't look expensive or premium at all in black

3. The setup is awful - wireless receiver not working out of the box, not working with USB hub, picky and needs a |USB 2.0 port.

4. Even with the USB port working, requires really weird 'authorisation setup'.

5. Once all setup, the wireless range with the 2.4ghz was abysmal. I know Logitech have best in class wireless but I had an Aula F75 doing the business, using the USB port which this one didn't work and the range was excellent..

6. I troubleshooted for about an hour and then clicked the return button Amazon.

Back to the G915. A bit sad/annoyed I've sold the aula F75 for this piece of rubbish.

For anyone reading the reviews which are negative, listen to them! Really overrated product, influencers are really going over the top with this one.

Hi. I want to upgrade to hue bridge pro for speed. Is it okay if I just buy 2 of them and upgrade each bridge to one of them? I’ve looked at the migration and the second bridge migration will lose settings. I’d rather spend more and not have that hassle. Is this ok?

Hi, I'm undecided which colour to go for. In videos, the white looks nicer in terms of the silver trim looks premium. The black seems to just look (in videos) like its painted black. In person , does it look much better? I am puttin git in my cinema setup where most of my devices are black or silver so I could do either one but I generally have more space grey coloured items than silver I guess.

any advice? I know the colour balck can be difficult to catch on video due to the exposure.

Also the knob I'm not a fan of. Has anyone managed to find a way to replace it with a more premium knob? I have an aula F75. Do you reckon that knob would fit the Nuffy?

Has anyone upgraded from 28-70 f2 to 24-105 f2.8? Any thoughts?

I think I prefer black colour.
I use lens for candid portraits but I do wanna travel a lot more this year to nice locations. Which one would u pick colour wise? I know white deals with heat better.

If I like the size of this lens I might get the 241-105 too
