Red Bull Malaysia!

Red Bull Malaysia!

2nd time in Malaysia but 1st time seeing this! I just came from 2 months in Thailand and unless I missed it, did not see this one — kept getting the coffee one there (which is so so good).

Anyone else seen this one before? Is it just Asia / Europe?

It’s zero sugar too :)

Arizona Iced Tea in Malaysia 🇲🇾

I figured this sub might appreciate! I had yet to see Arizona anywhere in my travels across Asia, and since I left the states for good recently I was so excited when I came across this display in an international grocery store in Kuala Lumpur today!

I guess it makes sense since I’m staying by Embassy Row that this would be the place to find it and I’m sure the only Americans I’ve seen thus far were in that grocery store lol.

Price comes out to $1.55 USD at the current exchange rate and that’s the final price/no tax added on this side of the globe, as it’s built in. Pretty fair considering you’re on the other side of the globe I think?

Never came across it in Thailand, Vietnam, or Japan. Has anyone else seen Arizona in Asia, or anywhere else outside the states, and if so where?

2 months in Thailand

Hi everyone, new to this sub

Sold all my stuff and left the states two months ago. Spent the better part of the last 2 years mostly outside the country (mostly Asia), first for work, then for passion, and finally realized I wasn’t missing much from home when I went back, in fact it was driving me to misery—so I left! I haven’t worked since June 2025 and I still get paid from my previous career which is how I keep this train moving. Incredibly blessed and therefore try to show my gratitude through action of helping others whenever I can!

Booked a one way to Bangkok, for my 5th time in Thailand (3rd time for more than a month stay) and did 2 months, split between Bangkok and a bunch of parts in the south. I went to: Surat Thani, Khao Sok, Hat Yai, Yala, and Betong. I also went to some areas outside surrounding Bangkok for some specific events (I shoot photo for hobby, car scene is one of my niches).

Now I’m in KL, Malaysia - gonna decompress and relax for a bit because a plantar wart started developing in my freaking foot while I was trekking jungle, I got meds and want to try to hammer it down as much as I can before I start walking a lot again, so I’m on my phone quite a bit right now.

Therefore, happy to address any questions anyone may have who is headed to any of these areas for the first time or seeking out new spots in Thailand to go to. I’m no expert and I can merely just speak from my experience so that’s what I do. I have a wide range of interests so I’ve been able to experience a lot :)

Lovely, hello darkness my old friend

I sold all my stuff and left the states 2 months ago, traveling indefinitely and lo and behold ANOTHER ONE. This is my 3rd to date, I’ve had 2 on my foot, same one, ball where it’s now and by the toes before, last one was on my FINGER.

What the f man. These things BLOW. The ones on my foot I’m like alright this sucks I’m just pushing it in but the one on the finger was cunning because I couldn’t tell was it a bug bite was it a spider bite was is happening wait, why is my finger going from red to purple to black what in the…..and then by the time I’m in the chair in the dermatologist office, their like okay yea we need to slice this out, wtf I’ve only had the frost before, and that was annoying but what do you mean you need to slice it out, next thing you know I’m fainting like a light oh wow never fainted in my life till I watched a knife slice into my finger to carve out a f Ing diamond.

Yeah, I prefer the frost. I already told this dermatologist in Bangkok if she’s slicing I’m dicing I gotta get the f out that office so fast. Man, I can’t even get this immune shot they are recommending because oh yeah of course I had Guillaine Barre Syndrome. Yeah, this all checks out as the most awesome mysterious ailment I’ve had in my life, diamonds that form in my feet.

Ideal flash diffuser setup for insect Macro?

I’m traveling indefinitely so I can really only DIY a setup that is easily foldable/transportable in my bag or suitcase. I’m considering acquiring a Canon 100mm macro IS for my 7d mkii. I am currently in Bangkok and see a few ready options on Shoppe, like the bounce cover, a flat fabric, domed fabric, I’m familiar with the highly regarded custom fabbed one from AUS.

What are some starter alternatives people have tried out before going to that one?

I have a Speedlite 430 ex ii as my flash.

Thx

Bangsaen Grand Prix (2026)

This was such an awesome event they’ve held every year for 20 years. I shoot for hobby and I’m traveling through Thailand following the car scene in different areas. Bangsaen itself is really cool, it felt like a Miami Beach vibe to me as an American and the event something like straight out of Forza. Everyone was super friendly and I met some really nice locals & foreigners during the evenings. Highly recommend for anyone into car culture, Thailand rivals Japan and does it well.

Southern Thailand

Did not disappoint and the Hala-Bala region was my favorite.

Hat yai fried chicken is delicious and I tried chicken feet for the first time and it was great.

I love taking wildlife, nature, and car photography, I’m learning video, and Thailand is epic.

Yala / Betong

Headed that way in 2 days and I can’t seem to find anything on Maps.

About to pass through Hat Yai so I think I might just stock up for the Hala-Bala expedition before I get down there, or does anyone know of a spot not on Maps?

Found the best sungrown I’ve ever had randomly in deep Khao Sok a few days ago and now I’m on a mission lol

Thailand Car Culture 🔥

Bangkok Drag Ave is VALID!

Bangkok is special to me since it’s where I bought my first digital camera October 2025 and this city is where I would first run around just trying to learn as much about photo as possible. I’ve been to Thailand for a total of 4 times now. This time I picked up the Osmo Action 6 and I couldn’t be more excited to learn video.

I’ll be at Bangsaen if anyone else is going later today! Then it’s off to southern Thailand via train all the way to Malaysia. Gonna keep spinning the globe till I get dizzy lol

Southern Thailand

I’m about to take the train all the way south, before eventually crossing into Malaysia. I’m solo, shoot photo for hobby, and have been in Bangkok for about a week (this is my 4th visit to Thailand since my first in March 2025. If you could go anywhere along the way right now where would you go and why?

Hard plans:
- I’m taking the train from BKK to Surat Thani, and then taking the bus to Khao Sok for 3d/2n to hike the park/shoot wildlife and left myself a day for probably just hiring a boat to go far out on the lake, not staying on the lake (didn’t interest me solo but I’ll do it if I ever go back with someone).

- eventually I’m going to Hala Bala for 4d/3n most likely, maybe an extra, to shoot the wildlife sanctuary and see everything I can while down there. I was thinking of going to Betong as well but I might skip on this run

Ideas:
- right after Khao Sok I could go to Koh Samui and explore more of the island (I only stayed in chaweng area when I went for my first trip to Thailand but I did the boat trip to Ang Thong which was so cool, enjoyed the hikes, ride, and monkeys) — this time rent a bike and go all over the island to see everything I can over 2-3 days
- I can stay in Hat Yai on the way to Hala Bala and go to Patthalung / Thale Noi for the lotus/boats early morning
- I can see about visiting Tham Le Stegodon
- I could visit Koh Lipe as I know it’s entering its downturn season, came across comments talking about the group of islands it’s around being awesome but I know it’s monsoon on this side now
- could go to Betong for the tree and the skywalk view

Not sure if I’m missing anything else. I’m aware not to do any water caves right now. But I also do enjoy a bit of risk, might get into journalism photography / non profit work as that’s what I’m being drawn to / going into the unknown excites me!

Thank you!

I can go anywhere I want now

I sold my car yesterday, most of my materials except sentimentals, and tomorrow night I’ll be leaving the states to travel the world & then relocate to a somewhere in Asia.

I quit my self-employed career in an area of entertainment almost exactly a year ago, and due to my contractual agreement with my former source of income—they have to pay me even while I no longer work. Couple that with the market, and I’ve been able to build a port that would last me years not working in Asia (I do plan to work) so I can really go figure out the next chapter in my life. I picked up shooting photo for hobby and that’s how I connect with people.

I’m incredibly grateful to have gotten to this moment, as that work initially took me around the world, which lead me to question everything I wanted for myself and believed about life. I met amazing people along the way, began self-teaching another language, and developed the desire to continue helping people as I did in my previous career, but for non-profit. I took time to work on trauma I endured as a kid via EMDR and it was life changing. I am much happier with less. I want to find community I can add value, because again, people I met along the way who had so little gave so much of themselves to me. That is now my purpose.

The road is long and full of adventure :)

Edit: typo

Strikes missing between dates

Why is it that when I look at the options for e.g. RKLB, that some strikes are missing between dates on Robinhood?

July 17 highest call option strike is 210
July 24 highest call option strike is 175
July 31 highest call option strike is 165
And then for August 21 it shoots back up to 210

Obviously I understand the strikes available will change with the movement of the stock, but why is it that there’s this curvature in max price. Does it have something to do with when a company has earnings?

Budweiser Camera !

Picked up this 35mm a few months back in Yokohama, Japan for a little under $20 and finally shot the first roll through it. It was listed as junk due to the flash not operating but it just required some contact cleaning. Attached my favorite photo from the bunch and just really happy it’s not junk! It’s definitely a conversation starter lol, and I’ll be taking it with me as the 35mm of choice when I soon leave the states and travel the world again :)

PV-DC252D & DCR-PC110

Panasonic - this one has been sitting forever, ordered a battery for it and it’s giving the “Press reset button” when it turns on, which then turns into “needs to be serviced” after pressing — and the tape mechanism is winding the entire time this is happening. Camcorder shop said this would run me more than the camera is worth ($250) to fix given the tape mechanism is broken, and even though it takes SD it won’t stay on. Cooked?

Sony Handycam - this I found at a hardoff in Yokohama Japan a few months back, it worked with AC power and records/playback with AC power, but it won’t stay on with a fresh battery. Shop said battery terminal board is shot and it’s so hard to find this model for parts. Salvageable?

Thx in advance!
